Time to update that Feeder club t-shirt that has some gaps?

10m Does anybody know if he is worth that? I would doubt it and Fergie has stated no more transfers this season

From what I've seen he isn't worth 10m but I have only seen him play twice a he is supposed to be quite highly rated. I heard we were supposed to sign him in January a couple of months ago but thought nothing of it.

Have to remember that like the Serbian pair havent actually costed £17 million up front, from the rumours we wouldnt be paying £10 million up front for Delph either.

So the real questions are, is he worth £6 million and are we actually interested anyway?

You need more than a youtube clip to make that assessment.

It's one thing to have a general impression of a player but to be any more specific; transfer value, potential progress, I'd leave that to the pros.

Marching who is a Leeds fan has probably seen this player more than any here, and he basically says he's got a lot of potential.
This is the point where the professional scouts and recruiters make their living, they are paid to make these assessments.
United has one of the best scouting networks around, it can't be 100% accurate, but pretty damn good.

They gather a lot of information before they make their judgment and they are 'on the ground' making it.

.

Gibson to Leeds on loan?

Thought he played for a, er, bigger club in Wolves on loan previously. Must be wrong.

He was a failure at Leeds.

He's not good enough for United yet, although he might well be just like Fletcher matured later than most, and a move to Leeds would do him good IMO.

Are you talking about Gibson? IMHO he is easily a decent Championship player, could do a job for a relegation-threatened Premier League side as well. An Irish international won't join a League One team, it would be a huge step down.
The likes of Possebon and Gibson should never go to anywhere below the Championship, their quality is much better than that and they are not something like 17 years old.

Preston North end were in the 4th division when Beckham went on loan there in 94/95

Thought I'd give this a bump as a Leeds mate of mine just told me that Delph's details have been removed from their official site, possibly meaning he's been sold.

I'd imagine Arsenal before us to be honest... Unless we really are offering 2 loanees in his stead..

I can't see us putting a bid in anymore to be honest. What with Tosic signing, and Ljajic following in a year combined with youngster already at the club.

Its more likely Arsenal and Spurs, they seem to buy up alot of youngsters between them

His price has just gone up again after scoring another cracking goal on Saturday.

Fab swerves Old Trafford talk

Manchester United, 13:47, January 22, 2009

Leeds United midfielder Fabian Delph says he is paying no attention to speculation linking him to Man Utd and Arsenal.
United are among a clutch of Premier League clubs who have been keeping tabs on the teenage talent this season - with Leeds reportedly turning down two bids for their prize asset already this month.

But Delph - who scored a brilliant goal in Leeds' 2-0 win at Brighton last week - says he is concentrating on the job in hand at Elland Road.

The 19-year-old told Leeds Guide Magazine: "It's just what people tell me.

"I don't read the newspapers - I don't take any notice. I just stay level-headed. My family keeps me focused and I have good friends and good people around the club who help me a lot."

Delph was unknown outside Yorkshire football circles this time last year, but his meteoric rise could earn him a place in Stuart Pearce's England Under-21 squad for the summer Uefa Championships in Sweden, which he admits has surprised him.

"It's been unbelievable for me and my family.

"Last season I wasn't playing and this year I've played 20 games and got an England (U21) call-up.

"It's all happened really fast, to be honest, but I'm coping with it and I enjoy it."

In Betfair you can either make a back bet (bet on who's going to win) or place a lay bet (bet against something happening). Betfair matches people on either side of the bet with the odds they agree. Simple. Use this £10 free bet and give it a try.

Nice way to round off the piece.

"Speculation is mounting over the future of Fabian Delph amid reports Aston Villa are poised to make a £6million bid for the Leeds United youngster."
Quote from Sky Sports

Not seen much of him myself but reports from last season sounded good.

Would he be a good buy for us?

Delph off to City? Rumours are that they will win the race for him.

Surely his family and advisors have more sense?

City are not right at this time for a youngster trying to make a career.

Not a peep from United or Arsenal about this kid for months and it's usually these two who are linked to the nation's top talents. I assume those who watched him didn't think he was cut out for it.

Agree with Sultan, he should move to a Villa/Everton if he has the chance rather than City.

Villa set for Delph swoop

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5470978,00.html

Sky Sports News understands that Aston Villa have agreed a fee with Leeds United for talented young midfielder Fabian Delph.

A number clubs had been credited with an interest in the highly-rated England Under 21 international following his impressive displays at Elland Road.

Whites boss Simon Grayson confirmed at the weekend that two bids from Premier League teams had been received, but both were rejected as they did not meet the League One club's valuation.

Manchester City, Tottenham and Everton were believed to be monitoring his progress, but Villa now appear to have jumped to the head of the queue.

With an accord reached between the two clubs, Delph is now expected to travel to the Midlands to discuss personal terms with Martin O'Neill's men.

O'Neill is determined to improve his squad ahead of the new season as he looks to build on last term's sixth-placed finish.

A good fit, as losing Barry and Petrov has dislocated his shoulder hasn't he, so he has a good chance to play a fair amount, maybe even start. You couldn't have said that for any other club he was linked with, so it seems a sensible move

Aye, he's made a good choice if he goes there or Spurs.

There's a gap for him in Villa's team in the short-medium term and the manager clearly feels it's important to have an English spine.

Glad to see he's not gone to City. Plus I have a soft spot for O'Neill's Villa, and would love to see them finish above City this season (above Liverpool would be nice but not very likely)

Well done Martin O'Neill, and Fabian Delph for making a good decision.

Man City is not the right place for a young player to be at the moment. Aston Villa are signing a talented English player who should fit right in with their other home grown players. It is the right club for him to continue his footballing education and there should surely be an opportunity for him to break into the first team. Aston Villa have a fairly small squad and he will be needed sooner rather than later.

Redknapp doesn't have a great record of late of giving players time to develop, the turnover of players at his clubs is ridiculous.

Does he play centrally or wide left?
