FA Youth Cup

Predictably enough, it's in the Reserve/Youth Forum.

I think Tunnicliffe was awesome, just looked like he didn't want to lose so he ran hard put in his challenges and this is epitomised in how he got the penalty.

Larnell continues to impress and grew into the game, him vs Sterling on the winglooked like battle of the 10 year olds! Had a hand in all 3 of our goals and deserves praise looking at his form this year.

Johnstone was important today has had an easy time but today will do a lot for him.

Pogba wasn't brilliant thought he was going to erupt when he touched it over wisdom's head and went to volley but lucky for them Wisdom recovered. Yellow was very harsh, the pen wasn't a yellow card offence so I wonder what he said if it was because of his protesting.

They had a load of thugs on their team Wisdom could have seen red for his scuffle with McGinty and Coady as good a player as he is was totally at fault for his flare up with Blackett (shouldn't have lost his rag as much as he did)

Was a quality game, now to look forward to Chelsea!

Missed today's match anyways, but is there anywhere you can watch these online? Legally or otherwise?

Would very much like to see the ones against Chelsea (two-legged tie, right?)

I thought Sterling was MOTM. Suso looked good too but not great. Morrison done well and so did Tunnicliffe. I thought Cole was our best player.

Sterling showed flashes of brilliance, (the pass for the first goal) especially before United settled into the game. He wasn't all that great in the second half. Don't get me wrong he has good skill and a lot of pace but I think he is a little over-hyped.
Cole was hit and miss, but he did a lot better than Lingard.

Morrison was great throughout. Skill, vision, passing, great movement, shooting (including 2 goals) and defensive work, but yet people seem to think Sterling had a better game. Its a strange one.

Can anyone explain this booking that lead to Pogba being sent off?

I have read through this thread and it's a difficult one to picture. I take it he feinted the pen and then stuck it in. Never seen a player booked for this, although I see it does appear to be a bookable offence.

It seems like the dippers sending off(first one) was also harsh. Did this lead to the game turning ugly late on?

Going watch the game now on LFC tv but would appreciate if anyone could fill us in on the above.

You describe it as it happened. It's unbelievable. It might be a rule but for the love of God, it's absurd. He made one tackle all game (first minutes) and gets sent off and to be honest? His reaction was not bad at all. I think he restrained himself well because it's beyond stupid. One minute you think you've scored the next it's disallowed and your sent off....it's a joke

I don't know if their first sending off was harsh or not. He was the last man and there was no brilliant angle to view contact BUT Tunnicliffe had a shot on goal with the goalkeeper out of his goal, so I don't think he dived

I think liverpools frustration was because of the way we fought back. We were brilliant considering we had no 'forwards'. I think the ref was at fault for some of what went on. The other sendings off were silly but didn't effect the game so much

Yeah he runs ROM.

The usual crap about how while munich and hillsborough are off limits it's all cool to have a go at Liverpool for Heysel for various flimsy reasons that just amount to using innocent deaths to score points against Liverpool fans.

He's a prize bell end to be honest, more than half his stuff these days is either 'LOLZ City had empty seats at their last match' or various hate pieces on Beckham

Just watched the whole game on Sky+.

Was a great match, Liverpool probably deserved their lead at half time but we came back very well.

The ref was a bit of a nut for sending off Pogba, if he actually realised that he had been booked before I really doubt he would've sent him off.

Was unnerving. Muddled my way through and found myself stuck in the middle of the home support and didn't dare to take any pictures when the second half started.

Yup, think the ref was as surprised as anyone that it turned out to be a sending off offence.

Not sure what those Liverpool fans were watching to say they played much the better football, both sides played some good stuff.

Sterling reminds me a lot of Lennon, Morrison was excellent and never has it been truer to say that someone should bulk up than it is for van Velzen.

Can anyone confirm if both Pogba and Blackett are suspended for the final or can we use this up in a prior game?

First time I've watched a game on TV live instead of a poor stream but I have to say that Pogba is a beast of a kid:devil:

Very impressed with him, Morrison and Tunnicliffe as were the Liverpool summarisers

It will depend on when the chelsea game is scheduled for.

It was supposed to be played this week, 16th - but I don't think it will happen. Firstly it is too soon, secondly Chelsea play Copnhagen at SB that night (so the game would have to be 17th). We have a game vs Derby County this weekend, when 1 game of the bans could be used up, (Blackett will have a 3 game ban, Pogba 1) but I think that game may come too soon. I know Brady got sent off for the reserves vs Wolves on the 3rd but was still able to play for the reserves vs Blackpool on the 9th as his suspension had not kicked in. So it doesn't seem that suspensions are automatic - don't know if it is 7 or 14 days.

I reckon Blackett is certain to miss both games vs Chelsea, Pogba may get his suspension out of the way before hand, but if the game is scheduled for next week I reckon he will miss it.

Cheers Mitch. Unlucky for Blackett, thought it was harshly dealt with...not a game you thought there#d be 4 sendings off

Jumping the gun a bit there, mate. The Chelsea games are semis, should we progress we'll face Villa or Sheff Utd in the finals.

Opps my bad...did mean semis of course, though the Liverpool game felt like a semi

I actually thought two more liverpool players could and possibly should have got red carded late in the game. One for a 'tackle' and kick at Morrison, the other for an altercation with McGinty (i think) in injury time.

Some comments after the reporting that United were overly aggressive and Liverpool played all the football. Also that Liverpool had all the ball players with Sterling MOM. Other reports today stated that it was feisty game???

For my part the referee ruined the game by booking Pogba so early for a routine foul for his first offence in a United v Liverpool cup-tie. I would have thought a more experienced referee would have taken this context into account.

It wasn't a particularly dirty game and Liverpool clearly were the better team in the first half and deservedly led at the break. I was impressed by their two central defenders who were big lads, Conor Coady and Morgon their centre forward. Sterling was ok and showed glimpses but I wasn't that impressed. He set up Morgan's first goal well and has good control but nothing that special.

In the second half Liverpool were pushed back but caught us and scored the second. With nothing to lose we went at them and had more urgency which unsettled their defence. Cole began to get more into the game as did Morrison and Tunnicliffe showed more desire.

This led to the penalty and a complete farce of sending off's by the referee. Not even sure after watching the re-run on MUTV whether the Liverpool defender should have gone. Pogba's was a joke!

We then equalised and Liverpool completely lost the plot. They lost their shape and all their 'stars' went missing. Tunnicliffe showed a desire to win that set the example for us and both teams had a couple of chances before Morrison scored the winner.

That was in the 86th minute and I can't remember a really bad tackle up to that point.

Then Coady kicked out at Blackett and put his head towards teh United defender resulting in both players being sent off when a yellow would have sufficed. A couple further late challenges on McGinty and Morrison led to more bookings...something the referee brought on himself.

Liverpool were clearly the instigators of the harsh tackling NOT United.

Further, how anyone (John Aldridge you are a joke!) can call Cole, Lingard, Mike Keane, Morrison, Van Velzen, Thorpe or Blackett physical players beggars belief.

All are ball players!

Clearly Pogba, Tunnicliffe and Fornasier have that aggressive edge but you would expect that from two central midfielders and a central defender.

In the end I thought Morrison was MOM given his two goals although Johnstone was the busier keeper (notably in the first period) and Tunnicliffe showed real leadership.

A case of bitterness because they let a two goal led slip, lost momentum and didn't have the energy to lift themselves. Coady for all his captaincy, showed none of the desire that Tunnicliffe had.

I thought this was a game Liverpool had in control as we couldn't get in our stride...the penalty changed that and we got our momentum back.

All in all an excellent comeback and hopefully we will have Cofie and Keane back for the semi-final and Pogba should have served his one match ban. Blackett will get three games and may miss the first leg at Stamford Bridge.

It will be two cracking games!

Nice summary Mujac.

I really think if we'd Cofie fit for that match we would have scored a few more. His pace and power against that defense in the last 20 mins would caused serious problems.

Sterling reminds me of Lennon when he was in leeds academy. Not as selfish though

Tbf to Coady, Blackett provoked him by....how should I describe this....tugging at his neck as he went past him prior to Coady kicking out. Neither player should've gone though.

So both Will Keane and Cofie are expected to be back for Chelsea, right?

No, it usually takes a few days. Meanwhile, you've got something to look forward to.
