FA Premier League - 25/02/25 to 27/02/25

If we decide to replace Amorim, Glasner is in my top 3 picks to replace him alongside Frank and Iraola. He'll be cheaper and more gettable than those two.
Wasn't he one of the managers Bayern tried to get last year and got priced out by Palace?

It's not the system, because the players have been poor in other systems, although we did well under ten Hag during his first season, finishing 3rd and winning a cup.

For me, I'd argue that if the answer to whether Palace and Wolves have a better team or squad than us is no, then the issue has to be the manager. In my opinion, he should be getting more out of our current squad. That said, the players also need to take some responsibility.

Palace have a better team than us 100%. Mateta, Eze and Sarr are way more dynamic in attack than anything we have - they were even stronger last year with Olise. Mateta is an actual goal scorer. And Wharton in midfield is better than anything we have.

We have 35 mins to get Palmer a goal. Preferably two. He looks completely out of sorts these days.

He looks like he needs a break.

Is there any English player who's had a fantastic season so far? Rice, Foden, Saka, Palmer... I think the lack of a summer break is catching up

Villa being 10th is a surprise. I know it’s tight in the top half but still, assumed they were in the top 6 just from perception

Add to that Guehi, Henderson, and Munoz would probably walk in to our team.. So that is at least 7 palace players in a combined 11.. And this is palace we're talking about, 12th place palace.

Maybe it’s that. I just think he’s going through a rut. He started the season in great form but fell off completely from December onwards. He’s finishing has completely deserted him and all the little tricks and delicate touches that used to work haven’t for a while. Seems more of a confidence thing than a fatigue issue.

It's very tight. Anyone from 10th can still finish 3rd. Even Brentford, in 11th will only be 7 points off 3rd if they beat us tomorrow. Crazy really.

Some that weren't involved like Rogers perhaps.

yep. and people think our squad is capable of spots 8-10 or so - naive to the extreme.

Saka was excellent prior to his injury. I'd argue Palmer has had a great season, overall, despite going off the boil of late.

Week by week Aaron Ramsdale edges his way to a third Premier League relegation of his career.

Sure but the virtue of being 10th means you have to turn things around and 7 other teams above you need to perform worse.

Southampton play aesthetically pleasing football at times but they’re honestly one of the worst teams I’ve ever seen in the league defensively.

It's possible. We have seen teams go on crazy end of season runs before.

Villa really struggling this season. But of a dent to the Emery reputation. I considered him the dream candidate for the United post, but it goes to show how fine the margins are in this league. The addition of high pressure CL football, a couple of injuries and fatigue and their disciplined football has disintegrated somewhat.

It genuinely goes to show how massive the impact of almost unlimited funds and alleged financial cheating City had on the league by being able to build a deep squad beyond the permissible financial constraints.

Southampton could well concede over 100 this season, like Sheffield last season. Awful.

Emery has been always a cup competition coach.. he is not made for a championship marathons..

Saka was excellent before his injury wasnt he?

My impression was that he had dropped a level from last season until the injury. Only based on a few games of Arsenal I've seen this season
I think he was on the same track as last season tbh, 21 games played (pl and cl) 9 goals and 12 assists, averages a goal involvement every game.

Is this shaping up to be the dullest season ever? Title race looks basically sorted. Bottom 3 need a miracle to stay up. Only really top 4/5 which is up in the air now.

Pretty sure the same post was made last season too.

The title was decided on the last match day last season? It even was a three horse race up until April or something.

It does, however, seem to be a trend that promoted sides cannot really compete. The only reason it looked close last season was due to the Nottingham points deduction.

There is a theme on here where each season gets called the worst or dullest season yet due to most of the factors included in the post with things getting tied up relatively early.

It depends how you view it though, there are still stories and narratives in the league this year that are interesting, and I think there have been good games to watch.

Bit annoying there’s 2 good games on tonight besides the United one I’m going to be watching. Why couldn’t they have one of these yesterday or tomorrow?

Spurs v City, Forest v Arsenal, and Liverpool v Newcastle will all be much better viewing than watching us struggling to string 2 passes together against Ipswich.

The three more interesting games probably couldn't be played yesterday because it would give Forest, City, Newcastle and Liverpool only 48 hours between games - the other two could've been played yesterday indeed yeah.

Was just watching NBA this morning Lakers vs Dallas as it should be good game with Doncic first time back to face Dallas since the trade. And it again hit me. NBA regular season nobody gives a flying f... about results and performance. Everybody shooting lots of 35-40% success rate no defense all they need is to get to the playoffs where the real games happen. So different from football where each game is scrutinized each position on the standings matter and you cannot under perform for 3/4 of the season to only turn up for the playoffs.
