FA Cup 5th round: 28/2/25 - 3/3/25

What's the point of the auto offside if we aren't shown anything - and I could see Sher was offside with the naked eye first time

Stupid offside, this rule is stupid.

It’s natural that the attackers chest will be leaning forwards because he’s going in the direction of the goal.
Here, both of Newcastle’s player feet were behind the defender, how does that constitue gaining an unfair advantage?

Why does the ref have a microphone? Even if there are numpties in the crowd who don't know what the ref's hand signal mean, there are massive screens showing the decision.

Because he's ahead of the Brighton player. You can control or even score with your chest.

Offside is pretty simple.

Think it was decided to add that recently. Feel like I read about it few days ago but thought it would only be added from July 1st.

What's the point of it though? It's just one more technical thing that can go wrong and nobody needs to hear from the ref when there are big feck off screens to tell the crowd what is happening.

It's any part of the body that can play the ball. Simple really.

He has a microphone to communicate with the other refs. They are trialing a new "feature" where ref explains the decision to the crowd, like it is in American sports. I think its intended audience is in the scouse areas.

Wait till they bring in NFL microphones and such. It’s gonna get annoying.

Handball rules are so random.

That Wieffer shot clearly hit a sort of out stretched arm doesnt it? Not even checked.

I have no idea how that's not a pen. Clearly stops a shot on target with an out stretched arm.

Yeah, I mean, I don't care whether it's a pen in this case, but why it's not even looked at...

They must just flip a coin I guess.
