F1 2024 Season

Mclaren were last in Azerbeijan last year, right? What an improvement!

Holy crap have McLaren actually gone and got good again? I'd stopped believing. Delighted for Norris after coming close before.

YES! Well done Lando. Finally. Brilliant result. That upgraded Mclaren Lando look good.

Interesting to find out what exactly caused the RedBulls to struggle so much with front turn in.

Max's 4d chess move of taking out the bollard was next level.

Piastri unlucky with Sainz being a twat and ruining his race.

Delighted for Lando, fully deserved. Great to see everyone being delighted for him.

I thought the bollard was dealt with under virtual safety car? The safety car which allowed Norris the cheaper stop was from something else, can’t remember who - Sargeant and ?

Happy for Lando, been a few podiums now without getting it over the line. Made even sweeter by bit having to see another Verstappen victory which has gotten fairy old. I'll take a few more races like that this year.

Kinda curious about the truth of the Trump visit to McLaren. They are claiming he asked to come to them, I call bs considering how delighted Zac was to see him. Really wish politicians would stay far away from F1.

Carlos Sainz has been hit with a five-second time penalty – along with one penalty point on his licence – after being deemed to have caused a collision with Oscar Piastri during the Miami Grand Prix.

Sainz had been attempting to overtake the McLaren into Turn 17 during the latter stages of the race when he slightly lost the rear of his Ferrari and made contact with the Australian’s car. This resulted in Piastri picking up damage on his front wing, forcing him to make a pit stop which dropped him down the order.

After a stewards’ hearing attended by both drivers and their respective team representatives, it was decided that Sainz was to blame for the incident, with the Spaniard having missed the apex after braking late, which then caused him to lose the rear. The stewards stated that Piastri had given “sufficient room” for Sainz.

However, it was also taken into account that, without Sainz slightly losing the rear, the collision would “likely not have happened”, meaning that the standard penalty of 10 seconds and two penalty points was changed to a five-second penalty and one penalty point.

Sainz had originally crossed the line in fourth, but the penalty will drop him down to fifth, subsequently promoting Sergio Perez up into P4.

Andrea Stella calls for race bans for ‘completely unacceptable’ Kevin Magnussen behaviour
The Haas driver was further investigated by the stewards after the Sprint for alleged unsportsmanlike behaviour in Miami, but they took no further action as a result.

Magnussen admitted after the Sprint that his penalties were likely deserved, with a total of 25 seconds having been added to his race time and a subsequent punishment being sent his way by the FIA of three penalty points on his Super Licence.

That punishment puts him to within four penalty points of a race ban, but McLaren team boss Stella believes deliberately driving in such a way to keep another car behind should result in an immediate ban.

“For me, it’s actually relatively simple, this case, because we have a case of a behaviour being intentional in terms of damaging another competitor,” Stella explained to media in Miami.

“This behaviour is perpetuated within the same race and repeated over the same season. How can penalties be cumulative? They should be exponential.

Selfishly I think that grabs me an extra point in Superbru as before the penalty I had Perez and Sainz the wrong way!
