F1 2023 Season

Agreed. Im with Max in that it kind of kills the magic of grand prix Sunday. Next they ll introduce a Spring WDC as well. Or different jerseys like in cycling.
Totally, the race weekend was perfect before. They are just greedy yanks.

If they’re experimenting, I’d do reverse championship grid with no drs, or differing fuel loads as a handicap.

Better to just scrap the whole thing though

If they are desperate for more intrigue, just skim some of the cost cap from each team to build a default/spec car. Make it an open 1-hour qualy then a 1-hr or however many laps race. Make the points count solely towards the WDC. 5 times a season on the crown jewel tracks (Monaco, Spa, Monza, Silverstone, Suzuka).

sprint race stays but they have to race their reserve driver, who must be under 23.

Just came across this old clip. Has to be up there with the best rain driver in F1 ever.

There are 9 better wet weather drives in F1 history than this. According to this article:

https://www.planetf1.com/features/top-10-formula-1-wet-weather-performances

9.Jenson Button, Canada 2011
8.Lewis Hamilton, Great Britain 2008
7.Ayrton Senna, Europe 1993
6.Damon Hill, Japan 1994

5.Michael Schumacher, Spain 1996
4.Ayrton Senna, Portugal 1985
3.Sebastian Vettel, Italy 2008
2.Jim Clark, Belgium 1963
1.Jackie Stewart, Germany 1968

Statistically Senna is the rain king:
His overall win rate in Formula 1 is 25.3 per cent, but of the races he raced in the rain, he won more than half of them (55 per cent).

Followed by Hamilton and Schmacher:
Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher have both won 36 per cent of their races in the rain. For both drivers, that number is higher than their overall win percentage.

Max is 4th. Verstappen has a 26 per cent win rate in the rain.

Followed by Button in 5th: With 18 per cent followed by Prost in 6th with 12 per cent.

These lists are subjective of course, for example Senna himself downplayed his 1993 performance because in that race only a few cars had traction control and of those his had the best system by far so he said his 1985 performance was far better. But all are great drives of course.

Don't think win percentages really say much in this case, perhaps better to look at where they finished in rain races compared to dry ones. Not all of them had championship winning cars.

Generally considered one of the best F1 drives, and typically the race that others point to as an example of when they knew this guy was going to be special. He just had it

Just had a thought there has been a Hurrican in Mexico, could this affect the race ? Not even sure if its in the same area has the race.
Apparently temps will be down to 25 degrees on sunday. But the GP should miss the worst of the weather, but we might have a wet GP. Which maybe good especially if RB mega DRS is negated.

One of the best wet races for me was Senna 93 it was amazing, the list above I watched them all apart from the top two and I cant comment on those.

I would have Senna 93 and Lewis 08 much higher and Button 11, if I remember right was he not dead last at one stage.
Max 16 would make my list and yes It would be high.

It true, Max did not want it.
I can see his reception being far worse than anything Lewis has seen in Holland, where Lewis is not really liked.
Personally I think its over kill, its some booing.

I dunno. It's a part of the world where people kill each other over results in amateur sports, not to mention the organized crime aspect, so perhaps the extra precautions aren't unwarranted. I also remember a lot of the drivers saying they felt unsafe about the invasion of the paddock and pits last year.

Yeah you make fair points and TBH only take one nut with a gun or worse.

Red Bull get away with track limits infractions, what a shock.
It seems as though rules are rules doesn't apply to Red Bull.
Oh well.

Well why not? Season is over anyway. 2nd or 20th doesn't matter anymore. Wins stay forever.

This guy...

Thing that kills me with that is that the same Merc fans who defend what he said would slam another principal for it. Only credit ill give him for it is that he s basically saying teams other than RB/McLaren/Merc and Ferrari potentially got away with the plank thing last week. Or I presume that's where he s going with it.
