F1 2022 Season

Sky f1 said during commentary that a FIA change maybe coming very soon this season. Noone knows what it is though. Maybe a mandatory minimum ride height raise or allowing active suspension next season. The drivers have been complaining so much that its becoming a health and saftey issue.
For this season? I can imagine something being in place for next season that's unfair on teams like RBR as they have managed to work around this issue.

Think Hamilton laying it in a bit thick with the back pain? Russell walking around like nothing wrong.

yeah. my mum is 20 odd years older than lewis and she spends her weekends getting bounced around in a variety of cars like that and she doesn’t complain.

Hamilton was running a different floor to Russell which made the bumps even worse.

The W13 is a dumpster fire of a Mercedes.

Yes this season for a interim solution, i.e. minimum ride height before reintroducing a technology for next season. We dont know details yet. RBR are also getting some porposing. I didnt think they were but when you see max onboard his head is bouncing up and down on the straight. Obviously the least porposing on the grid, but still the long term damage of the brain being shaken like that is unknown. Mercedes boys were apparently experiencing 6G worth of porposing at 200mph. Thats gotta do some serious damage to your brain, your spine and your internal organs.

Yeh apparently lewis is the test mule for the team. Which makes sense as hes the most experienced driver in the team.

The way Mercedes are going you might as well add packer to random bits of the floor to see what happens. Couldnt be any worse.

This thread never fails to disappoint, screaming team orders when one driver was a second quicker

Pretending Lec would dominate without any issues is just embarrassing, Max would be further ahead without any issues too

Both Max and Lec have 2 DNFs each, Max has fought back and now its Lec turn. At the moment, only thing Lec has over Max is qualifying pace

Another solid weekend from Russell, If Mercedes can deliver a competitive car next year he will have a shot at the WDC.
Russell is the future of Mecedes, Lewis has 2 maybe 3 season left MAYBE.
Agreed he needs the car under him to get results, the 2 podiums have been only because of DNF's in from of him, but that not taking anything away from him, he has adapted better to the car well.

Team orders has always been in F1 , Max taking Perez today was just not a fight, the no fighting comment proved that.
Perez was better than the 20 seconds behind today, but it is what it is, team orders will always be in F1.

Truth/facts hurt, got it.

I know they are in F1 but using today as proof to suggest "Perez isn't allowed to fight for CS" is just absurd. RB had a 1-2 on their cards, where one of the driver was significantly faster. It's logical to suggest the much slower driver to not cock that up.

Perez didn't fight with Max today because he simply didn't have the pace, but that's too simplistic for many. He's trailing Max by just 21 points, they haven't picked a winner.... not yet anyway. It's all premature to claim it's a big conspiracy against Perez.

You can't be serious. Max pulled away 3 secs a lap from Perez after he passed him

Verstappentjuhhhhh another world championship for him coming up. How you feeling guys?

gloating hard here.

Valteri it’s James - yessss F1 is a team sport

No fighting - ItS a COnSPiRACy

first one tended to happen when bottas was clearly not going to win the wdc in the second half of the season. the second happened about 5 races into the season with perez the only likely contender for the crown.

i’m sure it’ll feel a bit more special when it’s not handed to him.

Verstappen is gonna get so many records wow what a driver.

Because why would they chance a fight with Leclerc closing behind on both of them?

the same leclerc that was falling behind and then retired less than a third of the way through the race, with pit stops still remaining?

it’s a team sport, it’s fine to have a clear number one and number two driver, it’s their prerogative. to suggest they are equal and allowed to race is clearly rubbish though.

agreed. already dominating the ‘most wins handed to him’ standings so early on in his career.

But Perez had done his tyres in lap 1. Ferrari were talking about his complaining about lack of traction on lap 6/7 on the radio - Verstappen had made up huge amounts of time on him prior to overtaking and within 2 laps had opened a ~3 second gap.

Why would Red Bull compromise their race strategy hoping for a CLC DNF? That seems hugely illogical and based solely on hindsight. At the time, Leclerc was closing in on both of them on fresher tyres; getting the faster car out in front to limit the delta was obviously the right strategic move.

leclerc flat spotted a tyre on the first corner too.

to me it was a fairly easy red bull 1-2 as long as nothing majorly went wrong for them. which is the same for any race when you’re 1-2. red bull decided on about lap 10 the order that 1-2 should be. the message to perez was clear “no fighting” it wasn’t “don’t do anything stupid” it wasn’t “max looks faster, we have a 1-2 here. we don’t throw that away” it was clear he wasn’t allowed to do anything that constituted making max work for it. like i say, fine to have a number two driver, just don’t pretend it’s a fair fight.

Irrelevant because he pitted onto fresher tyres? And Checo hadn't?

It wasn't a fairly easy RB 1-2 once it was clear Leclerc had a major pace advantage on his fresh hards. He was closing in on both Perez and Verstappen; the difference was Verstappen was faster given the wear on Checo's tyres from the first lap. In that situation it's clear that getting the faster car in front is the better decision.

If you want to argue that Red Bull wouldn't have done that with the order flipped I won't contest that - no way of knowing really. I personally detest team orders and of the two RB drivers I prefer Perez, but in this situation I don't think they did anything wrong in the slightest.
