What about his decision to move from McLaren to Mercedes.

Big decision that many thought was a silly risk.

He is in the best car and team simply because he is the best driver.

Anyway. You are entitled to your views and I mine.
But his record is not in dispute.

And also not in dispute is the amount of time he spends perfecting his car. Engineers have commented that they think he understand the car better than they do.

Show me a driver who doesn't have a strop when the car fails them.

This guys hate is completely irrational.
 
Where does it say they, they said with the last hour no team member has been quarrentred or tested.

I dislike Hamilton because he's a whining twat who complains about everything despite having the best car on the field for the majority of his career. From the way he's complaining, you'll think he's driving a shit car that breaks half the time when in reality he's winning races by a huge margin most of the time.

Max is just an arrogant prick and his fans make him even more insufferable.

This is probably a big factor in why he's not more liked and the thing I dislike the most about him well. It's a bit like Klopp whining about anything and everything when they lose but Lewis is doing it when he's more often than not 1min in front of 2nd placed Bottas and has a 159 point lead in the championship. It's kind of hard to feel any sympathy for the man in those cases, and those cases tend to happen every 20 laps in every single race.

And your point about Lewis Hamilton work at the factory is a significant one.

Toto Wolf has mentioned that Hamilton spends a huge amount of time talking with the engineers of the various systems.
And yes. He not only tries to understand how the systems work, he is very proactive in challenging them all to deliver better performance and strategy.

In my opinion he is the best all round package I have ever seen in F1.
And that is why he is 6 times World Champion.

All drivers do it, they'll always play the audio from guys at the front. If a Williams in 20th radio's in an issue they won't play on live tv. If Lewis tyres are getting old or something might sound be going wrong people consider minor of course he has to radio in to do it. F1 has very fine margins and is a very dangerous sport.

I’m a big fan of Lando and obviously McLaren as Sainz seems like a decent guy too. The two of them actually seem like good mates. I’m curious though that if their car is even more competitive/reliable this year how their relationship will change if at all. The competitiveness of F1 is probably one of the craziest amounts in any sport. Surely only a matter of time before the pressure starts building and they start to crack.

Hopefully Renault make the midfield battle interesting as well. Two very talented drivers. Just need the car to go with the talent.

Obviously want the top three to be closer this year. F1 is way better entertainment when it goes down to at least the last 10 laps.

I didn't question his desire to improve. Whining about every little thing, more often than not something that's not even happening in reality, is not wanting to improve. I have no doubt he's the most dedicated driver on the grid and his drive to win is unquestionable, but whining for example about how his strategy is definitely the wrong one and how everyone else's strategy is so much better isn't a want for improvement, it's being insecure and whiny.
When he then goes on to win the race comfortably with a strategy that was, as usual, spot on it's kind of difficult to look back at what he said and credit him for wanting to improve.

There's a huge difference between wanting to improve and him moaning over feck all. He literally moans for the sake of it and not because there's any real issue with the car or his driving.

He deserves to drive in a shit car for him to realise how fecking lucky he is to drive in a championship quality car throughout his career.

Schumacher has been credited with literally turning around Ferrari's fortunes as he was relentless in the pursuit of perfection and there are numerous stories of him working closely with engineers and the guy won 7 championships, 2 of them not with a dominant Ferrari. Yet you think it's Lewis who is the best all round you have ever seen? That surely cannot be something you truly believe unless you weren't around watching F1 when Schumacher was driving.

So what if it is. It’s not a stupid opinion at all. If Buster had said Damon Hill I’d question it too but they didn’t. Lewis has 6 world titles and put on some of F1 greatest ever performances. He’s an all time great and is in that bracket of all timers. You just cannot argue that, even though you’ll try.If they think Lewis is the best for them it’s fine just as it is to say Schumacher.

He's British of course he thinks Hamilton is the GOAT. If I was, I'd think it too. I'd still be wrong

To say that Lewis is the best driver is different to say he is the best overall package ever to grace the sport, simply because the likes of Senna and Schumacher were known to have massive inputs with their own engineering team. Schumacher came at a time when Ferrari were meandering and made them a complete powerhouse, which definitely puts more shine to his performances compared to say Hamilton, who was beaten to a championship by his own teammate who really isn't a great racer compared to the elites. That puts a lot of things into perspective especially when one claims Hamilton is the best ever.

Two teams could throw yet another cloud over the 2020 season opener in Melbourne, according to Germany's Auto Bild.
Correspondent Ralf Bach said there is a very real possibility that Red Bull will lodge an official protest against the legality of Mercedes' new 'DAS' steering system.

"From our perspective, the system does not comply with the rules," Dr Helmut Marko confirmed.


"So we will protest when Mercedes uses the system in Melbourne."

The Red Bull official also told Auto Motor und Sport: "Our lawyers are checking whether the DAS system is legal."




The second team that may be preparing a protest in Australia is Renault. Bach reports that the French outfit suspects that Racing Point copied some of Mercedes' technical solutions 1-1, which is not allowed.

Meanwhile, Mercedes had to alter the design of its rear brake ducts after winter testing. According to Auto Motor und Sport, the FIA told the world champions that an air intake, whilst technically legal, was against the 'spirit' of the rules.

Racing Point may also have been affected by the same new technical directive, the report added.

It is also believed that, prior to Melbourne, Mercedes managed to rectify the engine problems that were encountered in winter testing.
 
he Vietnam Grand Prix is under threat because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Vietnam's first Formula 1 race is scheduled to be held on 5 April but the country has said it will refuse entry to anyone who has been to Italy in the previous 14 days.

That would mean Alfa Romeo's Antonio Giovinazzi and personnel from Ferrari and Alpha Tauri and tyre supplier Pirelli could not enter the country.

F1 boss Chase Carey is in Vietnam, trying to ensure the race goes ahead.

But if the Vietnamese government refuses to waive restrictions then the race will have to be postponed as F1 has made it clear no grand prix can happen if personnel from any team cannot get there.

Vietnam has said that anyone who has visited Italy, China, Iran or Daegu city and Gyeongsangbuk province in South Korea in the previous 14 days will be refused entry to the country.

The only exceptions are for people with "specific agreement travelling on official government business".

If Vietnam has to be called off, F1 will probably look to reschedule the event later in the year.

But the practicalities involved and the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus outbreak could make that impossible.

There remains uncertainty about the rest of the calendar as countries seek to slow down the progress of the virus outbreak, which on Wednesday was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation.

There are questions over the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne this weekend after a total of five team personnel - four from the Haas team and one from McLaren - were advised to go into isolation in their hotels after developing symptoms that could be related to coronavirus.

It remains to be seen what officials and local government will do if any of the three test positive for Covid-19, and whether the race will still be able to go ahead.

Results are expected at some point on Thursday.

Dr Brett Sutton, the chief health officer for the state of Victoria, said: "I'm aware that there's a crew who are unwell and in isolation who have tests pending. It'll depend on those tests.

"If they are negative and haven't exposed other crew, then I can say that they can carry on. But if there are positive crew and they've exposed a number of others then all of those contacts need to be in quarantine and so it'll be a question of whether they've got the operational staff to continue.

"I've spoken to my team about getting those test results as soon as possible. It's really contingent on that.

"If there are positive tests, then I'll be directly involved with the (Australian Grand Prix) CEO, with the organisers around what next steps need to be taken, what the implications are."

As increasing numbers of sporting events are postponed or cancelled as a result of coronavirus, F1 has come under increasing pressure over the way it has handled the situation.

But Williams deputy team principal Claire Williams said that she believed F1 and governing body the FIA had so far "done the best job to act responsibly" over the coronavirus.

Both organisations are having daily meetings and are taking their lead from local governments in countries where races are due to be held.

Williams said that, in the event of a positive test for Covid-19 from anyone in the paddock, the ultimate decision as to whether the race proceeded this weekend would rest with the Australian government.

Does anyone care what Marko says? He's just a talking windbag. His own team had wings that bent to the floor but couldn't be banned as they passed FIA tests and he works for a team that shares practically identical cars with a sister outfit.

I don't really mind too much about the fun and games in this sport, it's part of the fun but Marko is a hypocrite and hugely unlikeable.

Got to be cancelled...I am well aware there are things bigger than sport - but it really would have kept me sane for the next month.
 
I has to be cancelled, its the only thing they can do, the next race will have no crowd, but McLaren wont be there, will they, I think that my go, the Vietnam race is in major doubt.
The next race is Holland 3rd May, will there be any European races ?
My gut feeling is this season wont happen, could put some F1 teams in real trouble.
