F1 2019 season

Tbf I suspect that Lewis was just being emotional in view of the death of a friend. His emotions are frayed and was just probably letting off steam after a traumatic week.

Noticed how quiet he was even after being congratulated by his team? He normally would yell out loud etc if he had really had to grind out a tough victory. Not this time.
I am pretty sure, tears were shed.

It's true, frankly I was just a bit bitter and Lewis was an easy random target. I can understand why it was an emotional week for him, and on top of that Monaco hasn't always been an easy one for him either.

That is right.
From what we hear Lewis does like to communicate with the team and when he gets frustrated it is good that he can let off steam that way.
As he said he wasn't going to pit but the communication from his engineer was very calm and assured.
Lewis is Lewis and I am sure that Mercedes would have it any other way.
He is absolutely outstanding.

What are peoples thoughts on the rumours of Vettel retiring at the end of this season?

Stranger things have happened, probably just silly season rumours starting to start.

As soon as there is even a sniff of a top seat opening up you know Alonso will be circling.

He doesn't look like he's enjoying it anymore. Wouldn't be surprised. He's loaded and can do something he enjoys. Contrast him with Lewis, Alonso, who is grumpy sod, but who's heart is made of a mixture of petrol, rubber and carbon fibre.

He cant win as long as there's Lewis. But he doesnt looks like as passionate as last year though. Lewis might be break him completely way sooner this year.

Not in the same competition this year. If anyone is going to break him its going to be Leclerc, who he is expected to beat, but may struggle to actually do so consistently.

I read if Vettel was going to retire, Alonso is the man Ferrari would replace him with.
I'd like that, Alonso is getting on a bit, but he could give 2-3 high-quality seasons for sure. Even though he won nothing with Ferrari, I massively appreciate his time there. His 2012 season was the stuff of legends.

What is to say about the rest of F1's drivers if Alonso deemed as good replacement for Vettel?
Another alternative maybe Lewis jump ship?
Taking Ferrari to glory will surefire his position as GOAT of F1. I would love that to happen.

Hang on I would argue F1 is in a much better place than previous years in terms of talent vs pay drivers. Not everyone can be unique talents, how many drivers are actually probably only there because of money, Stroll and.........struggling.

The issue isn't the drivers in F1, its the domination of one team.

Question. If the FIA are on about saving teams money. Why do they go from Monaco to Canada, back to France then continue with the European schedule? The Canadian Grand Prix just seems out of place. Surely it should be in with the Mexican, USA and Brazilian schedule.

I suspect the weather in Montreal might play a part.

Canada has always been this time of year though, it's always stood out in the early European season.

Ah so setting a Grand Prix in Canada in their fall might not be the best idea. Makes sense when you put it like that.

this is silly, if Vettel has a better car he can beat Hamilton.
I am sure Hamilton was racing when Vettel won his titles.

Ferrari look good in practice. But we have been here so many times already this season. Fully expect Lewis to get pole. He loves Canada.

Forget the race, it will be the usual. Ferrari and Red Bull are leading the group of 9 teams who insist on Pirelli bringing back last years tyres. If that happens it's game on.

Glad to see he's ok. Scared me

Safety so much improved. Just walks away from such a big crash

lewis on provisional pole

Vettel two and a half tenths quicker than Hamilton in S3, don't always see that advantage carry over into the race but could make for an interesting first few laps if Vettel can't get the job done for pole.
