F1 2010

i hated korea, bendy as feck. abu dhabi was good apart from the sun on some of the corners. going into turn 11 was a pain in the arse, couldnt see a damn thing half the time

Yeah Korea is a horrible little track.

Abu Dhabi I initially struggled at before changing a bit of the car setup and then went on to win .

In my 2nd race I just won at China. I continue to stay top for now. Messed up big time in this race. Was comfortable leading and then went in the pits and by mistake I'd changed the option to Intermediates so the next 2 laps were like hell for me. I was dropping 4-6 seconds a lap on intermediates on a dry track. I have no idea how I managed to keep Vettel, Webber and Rosberg behind me.

I've done Silverstone on so many games but I cannot hook it up on F1 at the moment.

Some tracks I'm up with the pace setters in quali and others I am 3 seconds off 23rd.

Getting there though, loving the challenge.

fecking hell, so i started my new season at mclaren first off the paddock looks great, the mclaren motorhome looks top notch. would love it if we could go into the motorhome in the next game for the stuff like the agent, next race, standings, helmet ect. instead of it just being there but its still good. but the car is incredible, the grip into the corners, the responsiveness of the brakes and steering. i mean you would expect it of course coming from a lotus into a mclaren but its just great that you can feel it instantly in the game.

I went from Lotus to Red Bull and had the same, I'm now starting my 3rd season at Ferrari partnering Alonso and their car is also very nice. Not as fast but definitely better on the corners.

You people are driving McLaren's, Red Bulls and Ferarri's and I'm yet stuck in my Sauber
Came 4th with my Torro Rosso and had a rep of 18.5. Needed 19 for an Offer from Mercedes. So close :(
Anyway hope to win or compete for the title this year with Sauber and then go to one of the top 3 and play on legendary.

i had an epic battle with vettel in malaysia, actually being in a car that can keep up with him now is sweet:D started on pole and then fecked up my pit stop, overshot the pit box as i forgot i was at the start of the pit lane, spent the next few laps catching up with vettel and then racing wheel to wheel around turn 5, 6, 7 and 8 ! we were choping and chageing for 1st place and then it started to rain, he was still in front a bit and i thought feck it i will go in early and grab intermediates before he does but he pitted at the exact same time for intermediates to! we both came back out he was in front and then 2 laps from the end i finally overtook him on turn 9 with a great out breaking move, was well chuffed. was fecking ace:D

So I bought this today, and I find it quite a bit harder than when I first tried playing it.

My biggest problem is with the oversteer. The snap oversteer is a massive load of bollocks, and so far that is ruining the game for me entirely. Literally as soon as I hit the throttle (even when I feather it like a mofo) in the apex or after the most tiny of brushes with the edges of the track I get massive, uncontrollable oversteer that you can't even feel coming. The back end just whips round and it's frustrating as hell. I've adjusted the car etc and I'll be ok for 9/10 bends and then BOOM. Random shit.

Are you playing on a wheel? If so it helps a bit if you change the sensitivity of the pedals. However overall, the wheel controls are very amateurish.

That's the worst thing about this game, you can't feel the back end. However the more you get used to it, you can start to guess how the back will behave depending on how you hit the curbs/angle of the car heading into a straight. It's not perfect, but you'll get the hang of it. Just remember to try to be as light-footed and smooth as possible.

No wheel, just normal controller. I think me being very tired and pissed off trying to fix my ps3 connection for about an hour prior to playing it last night didn't help. I will give it a go later but it depends on my mood after todays result!

I've just had my saved game corrupted, and apparently the new patch will only be released in a couple of weeks. feck that.

What was you doing before other than playing it? Just watching the pretty colours?

The whole oversteer and spinning thing is just automated bollocks. Sometimes it's like the physics engine just decides 'whoa, think we better make him spin here for no reason at all'. So you spin the exact same way every time. Also the AI times are just made up. You can overtake them all in qualifying but they'll still be faster than you.

Yeah that's a big fail in the game, the worst is when you qualify pole, start the race, finish the first lap in pole yet someone in 4th set a lap 3 seconds faster than you. When you started the race and finished the lap first and held up everyone behind you but they were faster than you and are still 4th on the first lap.

I'm more annoyed about the contract side, you can't decline an offer from your rival and I just finished season 3, won the WDC and constructors 2 seasons in a row (narrowly to Vettel) with Ferrari after moving from Red Bull, I wanted to remain with Ferrari and take the number 1 seat but they didn't offer it me at all despite winning the WDC and the constructors, I had to move to McLaren after they offered me Buttons seat for beating Hamilton as my rival. I was holding out for the 1 seat from Ferrari but the offer never came, how does that make sense? Not being given a renewed contract at even number 2 driver still after winning most of the races and winning both the titles.

at last they have submitted their patch to sony and MS, about time!

Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since we last updated on the forthcoming F1 2010 patch so here is where things are at currently…

The team are hard at work, and have been since launch, building the patch. We’ve focussed on both fixes to the game and a number of gameplay improvements based on your feedback. Once the process has finished, we can then release the patch for submission which will take an additional couple of weeks until it is available for release. Here is a quick overview of the main issues which we’re addressing:

1. Corrupt Save Games - We have identified an over-zealous anti-cheating check that manifested as falsely identified corrupt saves, specifically the ones relating to practice and R&D upgrades, the save-games should now load without issue. However if any of you are experiencing corrupt saves outside of this then please continue to send your PS3 save game files to us (Xbox360 & PC saves aren’t of any use to us) and we can test these against the latest patch to see whether all instances of this issue have now been fixed

2. AI not pitting in dry races where a mandatory pit stop was required (20% or more) – This has been fixed.

3. Player held in pit-stop too long – We’ve improved exit logic so that it isn’t too cautious in holding players during a pit-stop.

4. Puncture frequency reduced – The likelihood of players suffering punctures has been reduced.

5. Pit-stop lock-ups - Fixed several instances which caused the pit crew to lock-up and not be able to service the cars.

6. Automatically updating race strategy – Selecting prime tyres from the tyre menu (over default option) now updates the strategy so that the pit-crew assign options during the pit stop as opposed to re-attaching another set of primes (in a dry race of 20% or more).

7. First lap calculates correctly – The lap time for the first lap of the race now calculates correctly, from the lights going out as opposed to the cars crossing the start line.

In addition to these fixes we’ve also made improvements to the game based on your forum feedback:-

1. OSD changes – showing split times rather than gap to leader – We’ve changed how the OSD timing information functions so that split times are now displayed on the OSD, showing race time and race time differences to the other cars – I.e. how far ahead/behind are at a sector boundary.

2. AI affected more by damage received – Damage sustained by an AI’s car will have a greater effect their handling characteristics, effectively slowing damaged AI down more. AI cars that cannot maintain a racing speed will naturally yield to faster cars & come into the pits for repairs. As before, If they receive too much damage, they will retire from the race.

3. AI yielding to other cars when not on flying lap in qualifying - Improved AI behaviour to move off the racing line or out of the player’s way when the player is on a flying lap.

4. Increased wheel support – Increased wheel support and force feedback tweaks (where applicable) for the following wheels; Thrustmaster Ferrari F430 Force Feedback (officially supported), Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience (officially supported), Thrustmaster RGT Force Feedback Pro Clutch (not officially supported but will work), Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S & GT3 RS2 (both officially supported).

5. Wet weather improvements - Rebalanced graphical and handling effect of cars driving on a wet track - the level of wetness has been increased as well as tyre trails being made more prominent.

6. Improved Damage Modelling – Tweaks to the damage system so that more damage is visible / received during lesser impacts.

7. Next lap invalidated time trial logic - In time trial the next lap is no longer invalidated for any offence committed in the 3rd sector. It is calculated per track and is predominantly based on the final corner.

8. AI: Driver Behaviours - Addressed some issues in driver behaviour balancing that were causing occasionally unrealistic finishing positions.

There have also been several PC specific improvements as well:-

1. PC 'replay saving' and playback – You will be able to save out the files to replay them later or share them with others.

2. DX11 – The F1 2010 patch will enable the game to run on DX11. All of the graphical improvements are configurable from graphical options when in DX11. Specifically, "ultra" settings for 'shadows' and 'postprocess'. (These options require a lot of processing power, and are only recommended for high-end graphics cards.

3. Eyefinity Support – F1 2010 now supports 3 x 1 or 3 x 2 monitor display setups (minimum requirement of 3 x monitors)

4. Optimisations – We have made better use of multi-core processors in general, which will lead to better framerates on higher end machines.

5. Additional Support - Support for SandyBridge processors, which also adds support for currently available 'modern' processors, like Core i7, which wasn't correctly detected previously.

This list is not exhaustive of the issues being addressed in the patch but a snap shot of the key improvements. Please keep your feedback coming though as it is invaluable both for the work on the patch and for the design of F1 2011.

Once the patch goes into submission, we’ll try to give you guys a heads up as to when it will be live and ready to download as soon as we know.

Thanks for your continued support & feedback.

The F1 2010 Development Team.

3 beautiful fixes there, the first lap time I posted above, the being held in the pits too long and the AI not pitting.

and this, great news.

If they could only now fix the contract system. If they make the immersion better in next years this game would be amazing for me. They need to alter all the out of race sides i.e better questions in the interviews, interviewing the other drivers on the podium as well, not always the same woman asking questions, the paddock to be better, changing teams change the pit crew rather than the same geordie every time, make the team coaches more unique rather than just different colours, to stop that aspect being so repetitive so it's not just a different car when you change teams. Make it so you actually change teams.

Sit down after races, let the team tell you what was good/bad could have been better etc, more than just practice, qualify, race, go to trailer and check if the team were pleased with answers to the press, practice, qualify, race, go to trailer and cehck if the team were pleased with answers to the press... etc, use the team radio more and make the comments better not 'Vettel is 5 seconds behind you' when he is clearly 15-20, or 'Vettel is 5 seconds ahead' when you are up his arse.

I daren't start my second season until the patch is out. Finished second behind Hamilton.

I think I'll turn into a bit of an arse and try and hook up a place with Renault this time. The team just isn't big enough for my ambition or ego.

Halfway through the 2nd season and Red Bull offered me a contract :D

I'm replacing Vettel

Next season with all assists off and on legendary now.

What does the patch do btw?

If I apply the patch when does it come into effect? New season? Or do I need to start a new career?

Yeah it fixes the issues it had, im now in my fourth season and have joined Ferrari alongside Alonso, incidently I was at McLaren last season and won the title with 17 wins (yes 17) and still didn't get a contract renewal from them (just shit logic in the game). And no you the patch will work with current career I think.

To be honest im just plodding along now trying to get the 3 time world champion, Schuperb and 7 seasons trophies.

the patch comes into effect straight away, no need to start new career

just started my 3rd season, driving with ferrari. won the WDC second season with mclaren but just missed out to red bull in constructors

Well thanks everyone!

Patch looks great. Can't wait to play tomorrow with the patch applied :D

Those new lap timings look great. Always wanted that. And now that we can pit without being held up it's another great thing.

I think I had chosen a 3 year career though which is a shame because I don't want to start all over again!

really want a red bull drive next season

I resigned with them for next season, McLaren haven't renewed. The rep system is so shit that if you move to rival but then don't have enough rep at the end of next year to have been offered a deal with them they let you go even if you have won the WDC so I've now gone Lotus/Red Bull/Ferrari/McLaren/Red Bull.

I'm with Red Bull now :D

This is not marketing in any way shape or form.

got my red bull seat, that car is the fecking shit i have to say, the pace of it is unreal. but the south korea track i must say has one part that gets right on my tits. from turn 11 into 12 is a pain in the hole because you have a nice positive camber on turn 11 and then all of a sudden that changes to a negative camber at turn 12 over such a short distance between the turns, its fecking hard to carry any decent speed through there as the negative camber is just trying to pull you off the track:mad:

 monte carlo is annoying me now, i keep just lightly clipping the barriers, and the car acts like it hit a brick hall, then i get a drive through penalty when someone comes through the back of me

Take it to HMV, they'll give you GT5 for 5 quid.

Why would they do that, when you've already posted the following earlier in the thread:

This game (F1 2010) is more about an accurate simulation of an F1 season. GT5 will have F1 cars, but you will not be able to take it through a season with everything that goes along with that, it won't have an F1 season campaign.

;)

Any of you still playing F1 2010? I tried it for the first time last night and was blown away, I haven't bought an F1 game since F1 95 on the PlayStation One. I was addicted to that game

For those of you who remember it:

IIRC, didn't it come on the demo disk that was bundled with the PS1? I remember spending hours on that demo
