Excitement

Excitement is the last thing I feel right now. I can understand why some are, especially the older supporters, but I'd take a u-turn immediately right now!
 
I think Moyes will be a good appointment if he comes. I guess I'm the only one. He's loyal and has consistently delivered at Everton on a tiny budget. We shouldn't judge him on his playing style. He did what he needed to do to survive. Given a better squad who knows what he can achieve. Plus he's got the added bonus of being an Evertonian, which will just enrage RAWK further.
 
I feel like there is a hollow pit in my stomach with no emotion present at all.

Sir Alex will still be at the club. Do you think the players are going to share your attitude? That attitude leads to relegation. Sir Alex will be saying it's business as usual. This was always going to happen. I'm content personally knowing Sir Alex leaves on his terms, in reasonable health and won't have to put up with any more shite from incompetent officials.

The ability to look further than just today?

Obviously I would hoped for Fergie staying on for another decade, but as a supporter in my mid-early twenties I've never experienced anything other than the success Fergie brought to the club. Granted, the appointment of Moyes is probably nearly as anti-climatic as Pulis being our next manager, but the sense of excitement comes from not knowing how things are going to pan out.

I'm sure he'll be put under immense pressure as soon as a sign of weakness is shown, and we'll see plenty of overreactions on this forum. It's all part of whats to come though, and though change is scary, it's also exciting.
 
Klopp was exciting. Mourinho was intriguing. Moyes is underwhelming.
 
I'm definitely not excited, the most positive way I can spin it is that I'm anxious to see what happens (how the team will line up now, who we try to bring in, etc...).

Sir Alex just brings confidence, it didn't really matter what happened you just always assumed things would turn out well. No new manager other than Mourinho can bring that.
 
I was feeling just as excited as I was devastated.

But with the increasing likelihood of Moyes becoming manager im just devastated now.

Klopp would have been excitement, Mourinho would have been a safe option.

Bloody hell people get a grip, I cannot believe for a second Fergie would leave if he didn't think everything was in place for his successor.

The next few years are guarenteed to be an exciting time for the club one way or another and I'm looking forward to seeing how times change. Today should be about celebrating fergie and his achievements rather than mourning him moving upstairs. This club has always been bigger than the individual and fergie has been perhaps the biggest advocate of that train of thought.

I am excited and I look forward to seeing how we get on. We've played some tumescent football under fergie at times this year and no doubt we will under a future manager too but we'll also play some of the great stuff which fergie has engrained into the club too. This is an evolution not the end.
 
I'd probably be somewhat excited for a new era if David Moyes wasn't odds on. He's one of the least exciting people in the Premier League.

Ferguson retiring isn't depressing, but his successor has the potential to push me towards depression. I'd be excited if I knew there was a manager who could actually build upon Sir Alex's most recent work, David Moyes' name just doesn't provide me (or the majority of others) with that feeling. That being said if he is appointed he deserves all the time we can afford and all our support to get it right.
 
He might even be a success lads. We have to have some confidence in the fact that the people choosing our next manager have put a lot of work into the decision.

Exactly the same here.

Moyes is just the most bland yet terrifying appointment we could possibly make. I'd take Ole over Moyes then at least there'd be a sense of excitement.

A success for the Glazer's is a manager that won't cost them much, won't need big transfer budgets and can guarantee a CL spot every season, they don't care about trophies.

I disagree. A success for Glazers would be a manager who keeps the stockprice high, competes for trophies every single season and keeps the team in as many competitions as possible. Any signs of weakness will hurt the club, thus the Glazers wanting to compete for the major trophies all the time.

It's understandable that we go to the most negative of scenarios at this time though, and we have no idea of knowing that the Glazers themselves think of as success but I'm sure they've been as spoilt as we all have during all these years and would want to keep the club at the very highest level, even if it means spending some cash.

Why would Fergie want Moyes as his replacement? Because he's cheap? Is Fergie paying his wages? Get a grip.

Why would the Glazer's give a shit about trophies though?

We'll see, it's all speculation of course, the amount the club spends on transfers this Summer will be telling.

Speculation? It's retarded and doesn't make any sense. Why would they cut down on what they pay their manager if it was the difference between winning trophies + millions of pounds, and not doing?
 
Why is everyone so damn negative towards David Moyes?

He has better players at his disposal at Manchester United, his idol Sir Alex Ferguson, who he can turn to if he is in any doubt and has performed wonders at Everton, where he had to work with a ridicolously low budget.
 
And this is not the thread to discuss Glazers view of success / on trophies anyway.

But yeah, the signings will obviously be deciding in terms of excitement. If we're to believe Fergie/Gill, this decision hasnt been taken over night though, and any transfers being made should've been discussed with Moyes if we've been monitoring targets for the last 4 months.
 
I was slightly excited, despite obviously being devastated, but the more and more likely it is that Moyes will become manager the more that small feeling of excitement is turning to sheer terror.

Moyes is great at doing well with modest budgets, whilst never actually winning anything. if he could guarantee us passage to the CL every year then the Glazers would be laughing from a financial point of view.

Like I said, let's just see, I probably am completely wrong, but hey, SAF did just retire, and we look set to hire Moyes in his place, so I'm a little annoyed today!

It was a very unique signing for us though. They could have easily said "sorry he's too expensive and we can't afford his wages". Wouldn't have been the first time we couldn't afford a player.

No it wont. We have a strong squad, and we'll probably add 2 or 3 additions just as we would if Ferguson was still in charge.

No CL Group Stage experience
No Experience Handling Big Budgets / Signings
No Experience Managing world class players / big egos
Terrible Away record against big teams
No Experience at a top level club

He's a nice guy but this is the biggest Job in football. If he's the best we can get then it's a sad day for our club.

Nah RvP wasn't outside our transfer budget and his wages were no higher than Rooney's.

Look, we'll see, this isnt really the thread for this discussion and I'm getting completely carried away anyway, I think i'm just venting, cause SAF is retiring and we're getting Moyes, fecking Moyes.
