Evra To Barca?

To be quite honest, he has not been as good the past couple of years as he was the three years we won the league, he was amazing in all of them. If we get £20m for him, he is 30... We really might consider finding someone younger and letting him go. Ferguson will be able to find a replacement, if we don't already have the replacement in Fabio.

I love Evra though, I hope he decides to stay.

Our squad is already in transformation. Scholes, Giggs, Neville and van der Sar will leave sooner than later. Why the hell would we sell a full-back who's only second to Ashley Cole and who has no proper replacement? Good full-backs are expensive, so we would need to spend a huge part of the £20m to replace him and chances are that his replacement wouldn't be as good as him. That's madness and muppetry.

Because he wanted to leave.

I think there is something in these stories about Evra, there were talks about a new contract it seems like he delayed them or rejected the contract ...

I dare say that this is a whole load of bollocks again and people on here seem to get all caught up in the stories, to make it worse someone then states that Alves will be leaving Barca as soon as January - WTF!!!!

Admittedly, we are not seeing the best of Patrice at the moment and he is not looking anywhere near as good as he has in previous seasons but I doubt that is anything to do with him wanting to leave.

It is more likely to be that contract talks are either underway or imminent and little snippets are being linked out to the media in order to increase 'interest' in Evra and give him a stronger bargaining position when sitting down to get an extension.

I wholly expect Evra to sign another contract and stay for this season and next, at least.

Besides, with Barca in the position that they are in, are they going to want to buy a 30 year old LB for close to £20m

So he wants to leave and he wants to sign a new contract. That seems like a plausible story. It's not as though signing a new contract would reduce his options, reduce his future wages, and reduce his leverage, nope. Like Rooney, he wants to sign a new deal to make Ferguson happy, against his own interests.

Something i missed?

Rubbish rumors created by a British tabloid and dismissed by Alves and Barca.

And coming to Evra, why on earth do we wait so dam long to give our players contracts? His contract ends in 2012. Poor stuff by us.

That's only been one year.

Evra was asked by a BBC Journo about the rumours about Barca and he refused to answer saying that he does not want to talk about it at the moment

Is evra thinking of leaving us then? :nervous::nervous::nervous:

I actually wouldnt begrudge Evra if he were to leave. He has stated his pride at being a Man Utd player plenty of times, but has he actually said he would stay here forever like Rooney did on a countless number of occasions? I dont think so. He's given us great years of service and i'd love him to stay, but if he goes about things the right way, I wouldnt bear any grudges.

Of course, but if he leaves, well it's bad news really ain't it. Apart from a few rusty games these last couple of months, he's probably been our most consitent player of the last few years...

This history will end and the end of the season with Evra signing a new contract, no need to worry.
