Barcelona will reportedly bid £17m for Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra, who is said to be keen on a move.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, Pep Guardiola has indentified the 29-year-old Frenchman as the man to give balance to right-back Dani Alves.

Evra has previously been the subject of bids from Italian clubs, but is said to be more tempted by a move to the Nou Camp.

Real Madrid have previously been linked with Evra, but new boss Jose Mourinho is more likely to move for Chelsea's Ashley Cole.

Evra will have plenty of time to mull over an offer as Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly given him a month off to recover from a long season followed by France's World Cup debacle.

Cheers for the service Evra. Loved you, but as it's Barca I guess we know where he'll be next season. Gods speed and good luck.

Since when? Who apart from Ronaldo who wanted to leave have we sold recently?

Hysteria is unbelievable.

It's more the feeling that's growing at the club IMO. No we haven't sold many, but attracting the top players to the club and making them want to stay seems a difficult task for us. Everyone dreams of fecking Real Madrid.

We aren't a selling club but honestly any player who we buy cheap and becomes brilliant I have no confidence in us keeping. Vidic will go, Ronaldo went and even Heinze, HEINZE! wanted to leave us for Liverpool. :nervous:

Think I'm damaged goods after Ronaldo left :p

Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanic!

But thats wrong isn't it? Its been 2 season since we splashed 30 million on a top player. Since then, we've never really tried to buy a big name and hence a question of attracting them has never come to the fore. Add to that players from Europe and Americas wanting to go to Spanish clubs isn't a new phenomenon. It has always been that way and we have been successful despite that.

As far as retaining top players. You're really falling for all the doom theories. Out of the 3 names you mentioned, Ronaldo is the only one who wanted to leave. Vidic hasn't left yet. Hienze left not because he'd become a world beater but because he wasn't getting first team football.

Calm down. This 'feeling' you're getting is because SAF doesn't think we need to splurge to be successful right now. Trust him

I do trust him, just pisses me off when every player in the world seems to want to go to Barcelona or Real. You are right though it's just mass unease at the thought of one or more of our better players jumping ship for the oh so wonderful Spanish football.

Can't believe anyone's actually made a thread out of this, but that gave me a good laugh.

I tell you what would be worse: if we didn't have any players who the press deemed good enough to make up stories about linking them to barca and real.

I think the whole of football know we sell our players cheap.

They can feck off! Who do they think they are? manchester united or something....feck em. feck em all...

Over my dead body!!!

£17m oh lord, that kind of money will certainly be tempting for SAF. I'm already drooling thinking about what kind of players we could line up for that. Perhaps we could get a co owning deal on James Milner with some other club?

Well Ronaldo deal aside we do tend to sell our players a little cheap.

Ruud for just 10m was so stupid. As was Pique for just 5m. We could have got so much.

Pique was a young, very unproven yet talented defender. Let's be optimistic and say he was worth maybe £15m at that point. Sunderland offered £10m for Jonny Evans at the same stage.

Pique was on the last year of his contract - halves the asking price at least. He wanted to leave - drops a couple of million.

Selling Pique for £7m was by no means a bad deal.

With the squad that Barca are building i'm sure more then a few players will consider an offer from them. I don't think Evra will leave, or that we will sell (especially since we don't have anyone ready to replace him), but lets face it. Evra has won everything he can with United...so it's not beyond the realm of possibility that he will listen to opportunities to play at the Nou camp.

feck the hell off barca or anyone else that want to snatch evra away from us....oh its a complete lies that claim evra want out. :boring:

hmm world cup almost over, and united players not involved, the press want to stir things up for us as always...
