Everton 2017/2018 thread

Unsworth is having a laugh if he thinks he should get a chance, awful. Why would any professional want to take advice from a sumo?

They have conceded at least 2 in every game unsworth has managed them. It’s gone worse. Plus he says stuff like ‘I’m sorry for the Everton fans who had to see it. It was really bad’.

Is Van Gaal off again? Would be a pretty decent signing when struggling like that.

Unsworth always changes the front 4 way too much from game to game. Bolasie and Sigurdson scoring goals are needed badly.

How funny. And now he has them over a barrel knowing how desperate they are at the moment.

Merseyside derby. Everton win 1-0 courtesy of a scrappy offside goal after parking the bus for 90 minutes. Kloppo goes ballistic while Sam works his jaws calmly like a cow chewing cud.

If anyone can make it happen, its' Fat Sam. Great choice.

I honestly don't think it's a bad decision at this point as long as he's only there until the end of the season. They need a manager that's going to keep them up and the likes of Silva and Dyche aren't moving clubs until the end of the season. Everton are better off appointing an experienced manager like big Sam than sticking with a clueless inexperienced coach in Unsworth. Then in the summer they can look at getting somebody in that's going to take the club forward.

Big Sam stabilising for a couple of years (taking them to 10th like he did at WHU) may not be a bad choice

So where’s the people who were saying we should have signed Keane?

And were blasting Lindelof. Keane has been diabolical despite being “prem proven”

Some fans on Grand Old team say they would much rather get relegated than get him as manager.

How can they look a gift horse in the mouth. Should be thanking their stars he's available.

For all the laughs, Allardici is still a better manager than Moyes, Martinez or Koeman. He is the only one who could probably engineer a win against big teams even with that squad they have.

I'd go as far as saying he's a very good manager. I think he could do very well with them. Obviously he's had a lot of "Sam to the rescue" relegation jobs of late, but he was on to something at West Ham and kept Sunderland up ffs. Forget about replacing him at the end of the season though, that's just silly.

I'm in the minority but I'm more than happy if it's allardyce. Most fans are delusional when it comes to their own club/ too good for big Sam?? We are currently a steaming turd

I hope they do go down if that’s their attitude. He’s a good manager is Allardyce and whilst his teams may not play with the most flair he gets results. Surely gritting your teeth and winning through any means is better than getting hammered each week.

I still find it absolutely ridiculous that Bog Sam can get a job after the shit that went down with the English NT.

Why? He got greedy.

There’s a lot of managers and players who have done worse who have got jobs. Just look at Malky Malkay.

There’s tons of players who have been charged with drink driving. Is that worse than what Big Sam did? No.

He didn't actually break any rules if I remember rightly. He was advising people how to do stuff without breaking the rules.

Should he not be allowed to work now?

Sure but his contract wasn't terminated for no reason.

For me, yeah, same applies to managers/players who were involved in anything that smells 'corruption', I'm incredibly strict like that and for that reason I dislike many Polish coaches and even our NT right back Piszczek.

Why is Big Sam's stock rising whilst he is out the game?? Talking about Pulis walking straight into the Swansea job. The recycling of these managers??? Wow!

What did he do?

What did he do?

Piszczek? Match fixing back in Poland.

It's generally speaking ridiculous, Smuda, the inept cnut, who was our NT coach was also involved in match fixing, Michniewicz, who is Polish U21 coach, was never sentenced for match fixing iirc but it didn't stop him from having made over 700 calls to the guy who was responsible for all the match-fixing scandal in Poland that happened/was happening around 2007 or so.

Forget about their manager situation, Gazidis should be on the phone with Bill Kenwright every week trying to convince him to take the likes of Walcott, Welbeck, Coquelin and El Neny off our hands in the January window. If Allardyce does end up Everton manager then it shouldn't be too hard to convince him to buy two English, premiership proven forwards at the very least.

On a serious note, Everton won't be relegated, too many poor teams down at the bottom of the table. I'm not sure what's happened to them that things have gotten this bad. Even if their defenders are past their sell by date and summer buys are overrated, they shouldn't be getting hammered every week.

(to the tune of 'Wig, Wam, Bam')

"Big, big Sam, he's gonna be your main man,,
Wam, bam, Sam, he'll play Wazza when he can!"

Really?! Our very own King Eric kicked a fan (and rightly so) and was back playing again.

Allardyce was stupid but he doesn't deserve to he left out of the game.

Will be a very good appointment for Everton. Will stabilise them and keep them in the league.

The issue with Everton was they were getting giddy because of that new co-owner but he's nowhere near as wealthy as PSG or City owners.

Everton supporters need to be realistic again.

Having put in excess of £10m on the table for Marco Silva and being knocked back, why wouldn't they do the same for Sean Dyche and give Burnley a decision to make?

Can only assume Dyche has no desire to take the Everton job, because they surely wouldn't appoint Allardyce if the former was attainable.

Allardyce will be good for Everton for 12 months. They'll steer clear of relegation, he'll be given a healthy budget in the summer but fans will soon get restless and they'll be calling for his sacking by Christmas 2018.

Rinse and repeat.

Not surprised at all. They are in a mess, desperate and Big Sam's got a good track record of getting teams out of the muck.

If Sam goes there and Everton get relegated would that be a double first?
Everton and Allardyce relegated together!

They were linked with LVG on the other day. Why not LVG? LVG isn't a bad manager and has a great CV. In fact they should consider themselves lucky enough to get a CL & La Liga winner manager.

LvG ruled himself out

Back end of his career and he's never won anything apart from promotion. What are Everton thinking, it's not even February.

Dyche does want the job. But Everton probably want to get Sam in for 1.5 years or so, pay him off and then go for Marco Silva or someone like that.

FWIW, I am not sure Dyche is currently the right man for them. He's certainly doing a fantastic job with Burnley and his stock should be high. But the situation at Everton is complicated. Not only do they have some utterly useless players, but some of them can't be arsed to care.

If Dyche joins, he will have to deal with these egos, organize their shambles of a defense, try to get their toothless forwards to score and bring in whatever reinforcements he can in January. It might be too much for him despite his work at Burnley as it is a lot of work to do in a short timeframe.

Whereas Sam has done this many times before, likes of Mirallas and Schneiderlin will likely buckle down and work harder for him.

I think Dyche deserves a bigger gig though. Goes overlooked in favor of Silva, but he's been outstanding. And I get the feeling he would be willing to adapt his footballing style.
