Yeah he is the one we should have signed - we had better go for him next summer. As for Newcastle - they are off to an awful start

We're not about to pay £100m+ on another thing striker, especially when CB, RB and possibly a long term replacement for Casemiro are higher up the list of priorities.

It's not like they didn't try, to be fair.

I didn't really see any credible information reporting that we tried to get Ferguson. As for Bellingham, the impression I got was that we also didn't really go for him in the recent transfer window. I know we had previously tried to sign him, but that was when Ole Gunnar Solskjær was manager. I believe that Erik ten Hag was more focussed on trying to get Harry Kane as the marquee signing. And then turned to Mason Mount when that didn't materialise.

We are not getting him, Brighton will ask for ridiculous amount of money.

No one rejected him, he picked Brighton for his development.

I read that the trial at United was a year before that, but I found some quotes from him about the trial and I think you're correct

At 18 there's no rush for him to leave Brighton anyway. With De Zerbi there and the football they play, it's a good place to keep developing for a few seasons.

We pulled out all the stops to sign him from Birmingham. We couldn't afford to spend nearly £100m on one player this summer, not unless the Glazers had actually sold up.

If he'd stayed at Dortmund another season when maybe it could have happened, but to be honest he seemed set on Madrid at the end.

Hope we never sign him or go for him as that would mean that Hojlund is also a hit. But he's class no doubt. City won't get him unless Haaland leaves in a few years... So sadly it'll probably be one of Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal in a few years.

We are allowed to have more than one good striker!

Less explosive but he reminds me of when Rooney broke out. Built like a brick shit-house at 18 and plays like he’s 10 years older. Sadly I think he’ll end up at one of our rivals.

Go old school 4-4-2 and play both Rasmus and Ferguson.:devil:

Or any sort of formation that allows for those two. 4-4-2 is due a comeback.

Sure but if Hojlund is tearing it up the odds of us opting to spend the ludicrous money Ferguson would cost on that other striker are slim.

Nobody plays with 2 central strikers who are worth 100m each. Even in the past, 2 striker formations never had 2 big center forwards. It's just common sense and knowing you can't hoard everyone.

Even old school 442's had one guy dropping and floating, not 2 central strikers like hojlund or Ferguson.

I'm not disputing that we didn't try to sign him when he was leaving Birmingham. We had made it clear to him at that point though that he wouldn't be playing first team football right away, hence why he chose to go to Dortmund. The FFP stuff also, might be legit but is also a convenient excuse for the Glazers.

He wouldn't have been 100m before his new contract. I couldn't believe we weren't looking for him. Not just his goals but his overall play is really good.
We were, he turned us down.

Wiki claims he grew up as United supporter (Ferguson, not Wiki). We should try to sign him next summer. And of course we can use 2 good strikers. United play so many games every season anyway.

Few goals for Brighton and he’s worth £100m. That’s the way it is nowadays.

He’s the one. Will probably be fighting Arsenal and Chelsea for him if we even found ourselves in a situation where we needed him.

Going all in next summer starting to look like a necessity.

Todays performance is exactly why I wanted him over Hojlund, that’s no slight on Hojlund BUT Ferguson showed more than enough last season to show he’s going to be a superstar and he’s doing it in the Premier League already whereas Hojlund may well have to adapt and settle.

Young CF who shows some elite traits and yeah it's 100m. It's why we spent so much on Hojlund. There aren't many big CFs who are young and talented. Lack of options make them all crazy expensive.

Says who? I can't find one single article that says we had a big accepted by Brighton & that he turned us down.

Bid was never made. We asked and so did a couple of other clubs and both the player and the club said they had no interest. He is very level headed and has a good idea of what is best for his career and right now he is certain that is staying at Brighton. Can’t really argue with that.

He’s as guaranteed as they come IMO. His strengths are not as obvious as an 18 year old Rooney, but it’s starting to feel like when an older Kane started scoring for Spurs.

The one thing that I count against him is the Brighton factor - how many of the players they’ve sold have lived up to their assumed potential when they were at Brighton?

To be fair, there aren't a massive amount of players that have signed for United in recent years who have improved. Brighton is definitely the place to be.

You havent seen Hojlund yet.

also, if Brighton sold a midfielder for 115m, how much do you think they would want for an even younger British (pretty much) player? i think 130m plus?
