Eva Carneiro leaves Chelsea

I wish I was a business consultant and an explorer, let alone getting to go home to that every evening... when i'm not busy exploring of course.

Seems like she's won the legal case because Chelsea forgot to submit a defence.

Pretty typical of their season really.

I don't think they had much of a defence.
Who is running the show at Chelsea? Kenyon is gone, isnt he?

Speculation on that yesterday suggests it leaves the door open for her returning to the club.

Yeah, I was being a bit flippant.

They chose not to submit a defence because they didn't have a case and didn't want the internal dealings of the club played out in court.

Wait, what? I thought that bridge was burnt.
It was just speculation I think, someone trying to find a reason as to why no one had put a defence case in. You never know though.

If she won, does she get a huge amount of money?

According to The Times re-instatement was one of the demands she made, if the club don't agree to that her financial compensation will increase by 25%.

That's ridiculous.

That's ridiculous.

Not really, it was part of the claim, a claim which Chelsea chose not to contest. Which means that they will be required to adhere to the terms of the settlement as set out by the court.

So they can either A) agree with the court mandated order to re-employ her or B) pay extra in-lieu of rehiring her.

How is that 'ridiculous' exactly Gol?
Just a ridiculous situation. She quits, sues the club and forces them to rehire her. You would have thought her position was untenable after all that has happened. I certainly wouldn't want to work for a company I just sued nor would I want a worker who just sued me.

She sued the club AND Jose. With Chelsea not entering a defence does that leave Jose open to proceedings or was that part of Chelsea not contesting it? Could still get messy for JM.

Is it fair to speculate that this is really how/where Jose lost the dressing room and his job?

No. That would be the most ridiculous reason ever.

What, that players properly began to get disillusioned with Jose when he harshly and unfairly singled out for criicism two non-playing and popular staff members? Not that ridiculous...

Things seemed to get worse as a result of this. Also Hazard in particular has been nothing short of shite.

If the players are so affected by the departure of a Physio, that they completely lose faith in the manager who just won the league with them and play like a relegation side then there is something fundamentally wrong with them.

True enough, but we keep falling into the trap that these are not overpaid, egotistically fragile spoilt wankers too.

It's probably a combination of a lot of things that has led to the discord between manager and players some of which being:

- Handling of the medical staff
- Blaming individuals players publically, questioning their commitment etc
- Dropping Costa and Hazard
- Ranting at referees and getting bans/fines
- Dropping Terry
- His confrontational nature

i imagine she was very popular with the players and to see her treated so badly probably reinforced an impression anong the players that their manager was a prick. Even worse, the Carneiro situation made him look ridiculous and it's very hard to recover from that.

Whys thats so hard so believe?

He acted like a complete twat and if she was a fairly popular member of the staff then wouldn't you as a player be pissed off / dislike the Manager for doing it? Winning the title doesn't mean anything if you have to work for a man you dislike/hate.

FWIW The Times have removed the story from their website and it appears Chelsea are defending themselves.
