Europa League 2018/19 | The Noble Wulf Edition

Controversial opinion but I look at the team you put out in both legs and to me it simply isn't that good.

Coates and Ilori were both seen as joke defenders in England, is Mathieu still at your club or did he leave with the rest in the summer? Bruno Fernandes sounds a player but can't say I've heard of anyone else in midfield like Guedjl and that Macedonia guy, just read Acuna was suspended so not ideal to lose an experienced head like that.

It's not a team that really should be challenging for europa league compared to the obvious teams. More arguably whether you should be 4th in domestic league but after the summer you had...

Just lost too much quality in one go. Just 18 months ago you had Nani on one side and Gelson on the other so big difference to now.
Like I said if it was up to me sell the whole team. Literally not joking they are horrible. Only player they should keep is Bruno Fernandes he is top quality. I know exactly what I would do. Secondly this president this coach and mostly at fault the stupid mother feckin 71% of fans who made the decision to set this club back 10 years and to throw us in a gutter to rot. They are at fault. In this order 1. president 2. fans 3. coach Bas Dost comes back saying " I missed the club it is my home" BULLSHIT you get paid by a fecking interim President a nice sum of money and this whole season you manage 7 goals from open play. Diary 5.5M HORRIBLE PLAYER I would retire if I was the bad. Midfield Gudelj can go back to china defense Acuna can go back to Argentina Coates is a mistake waiting to happen the word right back does not exist in our team the word goalkeeper does not exist in our team. The only good defender we have is Mathieu and he is 35 Years old and made of glass. You look at the bench and all you see is SHET. Youth academy ? gave up on It completely. Nani the only player who lived and breathed this club was run out of the club Montero decent back up run out the club both of them left on a FREE with the January window closed. Who makes these decisions? how stupid must one be?

This club has no cure we lost the best thing to ever happen to this fecking club because they got yelled at and judged for being a bunch of losers.

2 years Ago we were going toe to toe with madrid losing in the final minute of the game. Losing to an own goal to Barca and losing to a last minute goal vs Juve in Turin. We competed now we lose to a relegation team in Spain.

Why are Sporting fans so upset, if they go through on luck this time, they will get knocked out by any half decent team anyways. Villareal is fighting relegation.

He is fantastic. Shouldn't stay much longer, and I think he'll do very well wherever he goes. His numbers are absurd, particularly considering that there really aren't that many good players around him.

You could say he's their Messi to Bas Dost's Luis Suárez but I'm sure the irony would be lost on some in here...
Don't take it too seriously.

We aren’t rich. Every round we go further we get important money that allows us to improve the team.

We aren’t English, an extra million or two actually makes a difference.

If besides getting all the money, the teams from the top leagues end up knocking us out of Europe via shit ref decisions then how the hell are we supposed to compete?

Its not just about this game or this loss its a multitude of things. This dated way back to the summer.

Chelsea - Malmo is something else. literally no football, only long balls and fouls.

Kovacic done ok after early jitters in Jorginho position. Can see clearly why Kante definitley doesn't suit this system in Jorginho position, and probably not in any position.

Few nice touches from CHO, not any really clear chances either team, bit of a yawnfest.

Years and years and years and it's always the same. We are the "ALMOST" club the "Unlucky" club this club has no cure.

It’s hilarious how every single year we lose an important game after an open goal miss in the final minutes.

I made this comment on the 20th of May, 2018 after the cup final.

Bas Dost misses the easiest goal in football history too, it's a Sporting tradition by now. Montero in the last minute against Atletico misses an open goal and eliminates us from the Europa League. Rafael Leão in the last minute against Porto threw the league away and now this. A treble of lost competitions due to missing goals my dead grandma would score. This club is cursed. I mean, look at this:

How the hell does this keep happening? It's always us. This isn't a one time event, look through the years at our biggest games and it always happens. Different managers, different players... it doesn't matter.

And once again...

We’re cursed. There’s no other explanation. How many times have we been eliminated from the title race, from the cup or Europe after open goal misses in the last minutes? It happens every year ffs.

That flare has been the most exciting thing in the Chelsea game so far.

90& of the goal was made with that brilliant cross from Bruno Fernandes and I cant even understand why Dost did not head the fecking ball!!

You forgot to mention the worst of them all. Bryan Ruiz miss vs Benfica.

Leverkusen, like clockwork

Yes, but like this there is no extra time and they are fresh for the match against Dortmund at Sunday. And having lost probably better motivated that with a win.

Okay... Or with a draw...

We got the job done without conceding, albeit we still didn't look that good. But we will never look good with the current squad so let's just get as many wins as we can.

Surprised by Betis and Leverkusen eliminations.

You’re only missing one point. Decades of chronical mismanagement of our professional football. Even at youth level we were caught sleeping while the lamps were investing a lot on infrastructure and recruitment. I already said our competence is on the Athletics or Futsal department where they know what they actually have to do to compete. The rest I give up and have to laugh at our level of shitness to make me feel better.

Even if a team doesn't have a realistic chance of winning a competition it's still great to get as far as you can. For most people it does matter if a team get to the last 16, quarters or semi. Even if United realistically doesn't have a big chance of winning the CL, I'm sure you'd be upset if PSG won because of a referee decision.

Bruno fernandes is now the portuguse player with most goal this season ( for now) and the midfielder wirh the most goals in Europe. 22 goals and 10 assists for a CAM is absurd. He is having a ridiculous season. Imagine if he actually had good players around him. I hope we can keep him this summer but I am 95% sure he is gone.

If Chelsea or Arsenal win this and finish in the top 4, does the 5th placed team in the league qualify for the European Cup (apologies if this has already been answered)?
The fifth place team would qualify for EL like normal, Only way to have 5 teams in the CL from the same league is for a team to win EL or CL and finish outside the top 4.

Cheers. Hopefully, Chelsea and Arsenal go far and tire themselves out in the league, United cruise to 4th and one of them loses in the final. Lovely jubbly.*

*apologies to Arsenal and Chelsea fans - it’s just football.

Arsenal are playing against us (Manchester United) during their next both Europa League games.....hopefully they get a draw against Zenit or Krasnodar and the first game will be in Russia :D

Not for me because....

Rennes have an very interesting and very good coach with Julien Stephan + Rennes have few very good players + The squad of Real Betis aren't good enough for so many games.

Leverkusen are Leverkusen (Bosz isn't a great coach) + Okay Krasnodar haven't played a league game since November but they are playing a great season.

I'd love to see Arsenal v Chelsea if I'm honest.

Same. I'd fancy Chelsea over two legs, as they're not much weaker offensively but are stronger defensively (& just as anonymous in midfield). How about you?

Tough one to call, but I think Arsenal would win it due to the current situation at Chelsea. Chelsea don't seem to believe in what they are doing and are very low on confidence. I'd predict 65% possession Chelsea and Arsenal to nick it through Aubameyang and Lacazette on the counter.

I could see that. It would be a very good game, so let's hope it happens.

(If either of them meet a Napoli/Sevilla/Inter, they're screwed, though )
