Europa League 2018/19 | The Noble Wulf Edition

To be fair to Mourinho, the final against Ajax was one of the very rare times as Utd manager that his tactics for a big game worked perfectly.

First European final in Utd's history where we had no drama and won easily.
I remember everyone saying we were going to get shocked because of their youthful, fast paced, attacking style and we completely nullified it. They did nothing. Have to applaud Mourinho for that.

I think that and the 2-0 home win against Chelsea in 17/18 were the only big games in his 2.5 years here where I thought ah right ok so that's what it feels like to be on the other side of it when Mourinho completely shuts down the opposition and you win easily.

the only great player we have Bruno Fernandes.

He is fantastic. Shouldn't stay much longer, and I think he'll do very well wherever he goes. His numbers are absurd, particularly considering that there really aren't that many good players around him.

Liverpool at Old Trafford last year.

We sat back too much in that game I thought.

Very very nervy ending

They created zero chances. The 2 goals we scored were a result of tactics and exploiting Liverpool's weakness. It was a fantastic performance.

We won, we deserved to win and against Liverpool that's the important thing.

I don't think we were fantastic though.

First half was a masterclass in exploiting their defence. Second half we completely shut them down. The only reason someone would be nervous was because it was 2-1, but that was because Bailly stuck the ball in his own net, not because of the tactics. Both halves were different but it's a fantastic performance.

We made it needlessly nervy by completely sitting back and not even trying to attack. Liverpool were dreadful that day.

We'll have to agree to disagree, and get back on topic.

We made Liverpool look dreadful. We were also missing Pogba that day, the man responsible for most of our build up and transitions, but yes, agree to disagree.

Fellaini’s greatest ever match for us.
It literally looked like he was playing against 10 year olds, he absolutely destroyed them.

Ajax had no chance against us regardless of who our manager was. We had far more quality in our squad than them.

BATE getting schooled, should be 3 or 4 already for Arsenal.

Interested to see which position each of our midfielders are in. Barkley seems in the middle on team sheet which is odd.

fecking unreal this... Jefferson sent off for two wrong yellows with a 1-1 draw in the tie.

Year after year of getting knocked out of Europe after insane ref mistakes.

We’re shit though and it already got to a point I feel sorry for Bruno Fernandes that he has to play next to a pile of mediocrity.

He has made up for the summer drama. The only one who earned the right to wear the shirt. carrying this team on his back,

Can you say you're surprised? this always happens to Sporting.

Tbf this doesn’t even compare to the Schalke robbery of a couple of years ago. That one still pisses me off.

Hopefully one of our playersBruno Fernandes can score out of nothing. Don’t think we can keep a clean sheet here

What a shit line-up from Chelsea. Are they even taking this competition seriously? This could be their hope to CL. A 2-1 away win is far from safe.

We are going to lose and then our fans and media will say it is a "moral" victory.

YES! Zenit Saint Petersburg just scored 3-1. Great pass from Dzyuba and Azmoun scores. As it stands, they are through.

Game over. Well done. Jesus Christ.

And there it is... what a complete joke.

They should be embarassed to celebrate this

I’d love to know how many millions we’ve lost in Europe over the past few years due to catastrophic refereeing decisions.

BAS DOST LEAVE THIS CLUB YOU FECKING LOSER ! AND THIS GUY IS THE HIGHEST PAID PLAYER ON THE TEAM??!! HE SHOULD HAVE NEVER CAME BACK ABSOLUTE DISGRACE !

What a full debut for Azmoun.

2 fantastic goals and an assist in a knock-out European match to get your club through to the next round in your first start.

I am literally disgusted right now. Why do I put myself through this and continue to watch the games.

Oh no the Sporting ultras are pitch forking back to the training ground. Stay safe Bas.

Schlager (21y) and Daka were great. Xaver scored and assisted. Daka scored twice. Rose learned from the first match and Salzburg dominated Brügge. Nice match to watch...

For what he get paid and what he produces he should go 3 rounds with Floyd Mayweather,

Controversial opinion but I look at the team you put out in both legs and to me it simply isn't that good.

Coates and Ilori were both seen as joke defenders in England, is Mathieu still at your club or did he leave with the rest in the summer? Bruno Fernandes sounds a player but can't say I've heard of anyone else in midfield like Guedjl and that Macedonia guy, just read Acuna was suspended so not ideal to lose an experienced head like that.

It's not a team that really should be challenging for europa league compared to the obvious teams. More arguably whether you should be 4th in domestic league but after the summer you had...

Just lost too much quality in one go. Just 18 months ago you had Nani on one side and Gelson on the other so big difference to now.

They are obviously saving players for final. Obvious selection when it's less than 72 hours away. Kante is back as DM anyway which will please vast majority of Chelsea fans anyway.
