Europa League 2011/2012

We're wasting our time pursuing Modric. We should be going for Munain. He's fantastic and only 19.

what a great game this was

kuddos to athletic, i want them to win this cup

Me too...they deserve to win. They beat us all ends up and on the basis of this display, it'll take some effort to beat them on their way to the finals.

Salvio scored a beauty late on to give Atletico a 2-1 lead over Hannover then Diego almost made it 3 with an acrobatic overhead kick. He is some player that Diego, so enjoyable to watch.

God I really hope we get over the line and into this next year. Bloody great competition.

:D I hope you do too. Do it justice, something the last 9 English entrants have failed to do.

Many have had good moments, but the last 9 English exists have ultimately been whimpers, Man City's exit to Sporting possibly aside.

I was just looking the other day to see our coefficient has completely expired. Can't believe 06-07 was the last time we got in. Seasons since then have been one big blur.

A little harsh on Hodgson's Fulham maybe, but generally this is spot on. I fear Newcastle would get sucked into the usual 'league-before-Europa' stance that the rest have (ourselves included, though that's no excuse for the Athletic Club games).

I really regret not watching tonight's game :(

When Raúl retires so will my fanboy days.

Tonight, so far:
Athletic Bilbao 0 - 0 Schalke 04
Met'st Kharkiv 0 - 0 Sporting
Hannover 96 0 - 0 Atl Madrid
Valencia 0 - 0 AZ Alkmaar

1st leg:
Atl Madrid 2 - 1 Hannover 96
AZ Alkmaar 2 - 1 Valencia
Schalke 04 2 - 4 Athletic Bilbao
Sporting 2 - 1 Met'st Kharkiv

The 2-4 is too big a climb for Schalke - at least it should be.

True, Athletic should win the competition. Only Valencia look capable of taking it from them. Maybe Atletico at a push, no matter what it'll go to a Spanish side this year anyway.

You never know with Spanish sides... For all their talent, they are oh so prone to feck-ups. Also see Valencia (under Emery anyway) and Atléti.

Losing 3-0 to Schalke at home would be a pretty monumental feck up.

What about them?
