ETH Out Thread

I still cannot figure out why he subbed Rashford off at half time, just seems like a completely baffling decision.

His rotation excuse just does not add up, must have been some kind of argument at half time, which again seems odd because he had a good first half.

He said we didn't defend well on the left side and Rashford was a part of that, then backtracked into rotation excuse

I was a willing backer of his on the presumption that the new structure, new signings and better environment would translate itself in more time dedicated to coaching and improvement in performance. It’s the performance more than the results which gets to me - if we could see a defined way of playing that wasn’t so focused on exposing our every weakness, then you’d let a few bad results slide.

Unfortunately, we’ve remained static, players either don’t understand, can’t execute or aren’t good enough to play how he is trying to get them to. That should be rectified on the training pitch, but there’s some blind belief in the system which is consistently producing terrible football and fairly shocking results. Changes to the system need to be made and we need to be harder to play against, to build up a base and work from there. Midfield cannot be an afterthought.

Villa will be on a high and will smell blood. I’d be amazed if we get anything out of the game and expect us to get pumped.

It feels like a matter of when and not if. Who comes in next, I’ve no idea. Tuchel, for all his flaws, is probably the stand out available candidate. Whatever happens, it won’t be until the international break at the earliest. I do fear we might have a few more months before the club acts - they’ve publicly backed him so not sure they’d want to be seen as knee jerk, from a PR perspective more than anything else. Let’s see.

Villa game needs to be his last with us.

I certainly hope so because the Porto game was the perfect example why he needs to be sacked.

If you are a team playing in Europe, you cannot go away and play basketball football.

If you are under the eye of the hierarchy for playing better football and getting results, that is not the way you want to play.

He has to go, there is nothing he can do now that will change my mind certainly.

If we are going to go nuts on a playing style I might as well look at Potter now. At least there is some comfort that things can click in the Premier League and he's aligned with a game model under Ashworth.

I'm not sure why we expect that to be any better.
The only reason could be that a caretaker doesn't have to play beautiful football but practical.

Maybe all our players are sh*t but the way we defend is abysmal...

Be spanked by Villa 0-3 and you'll be a goner, ETH.

Waiting for the spanking.

We are just hoping then, it might be a worse situation.

Almost all our issues are tactical, and have been for a year now.

Yes, there are players with limitations, in bad form and so on, but by and large, it is how we set up that highlights the problems rather than hides them.

He hasn't changed it in a year, and I don't know why when it is so obvious, but it appears he won't change things in the next year either.

In an ideal world, I'd want him to take the hint and set us up properly, because I have a feeling we are going to be stuck with southgate if he leaves, but I think the reality is we won;t improve with him here, so whatever comes after, he has to go.

We still need to give him one more season and 1B for transfers to cement his style of play?

I was one of those wanting him to stay (even before the final) because I had this sense of “what if”

Eg, what if we didn’t have an injury crisis, what if he was given the opportunity to work with a proper footballing hierarchy, what if we can plug those gaps in our squad

That “if” has been answered and we’re still shocking.

For me the most damning is the number of heavy defeats we’ve had, you can’t argue with that size of data, even if you don’t believe it’s tactical (which it most certainly is) then what sort of mentality and motivation has he instilled to allow us to get battered so often?

Judge us at the end of the season, it's a process... He thinks he has all the time in the world and I'm afraid he might be right!

I was the same, but I would say I was deluded and was just hoping it turns out to be good because I didnt want this situation where we waste another season.. its a shame we will be wasting another season now.

He has shown that he is not capable of producing consistent performances, that is shown by number of times we conceded 3+, that is jut so poor, you cannot excuse that.

Its the same football he played in his first game, nothing has changed, nothing will change.

EtH is a terrible tactician and his player choices are mainly not good. De ligt is overweight, slow and cumbersome. Ugarte took virtually the full summer to recruit, is not good enough for the Prem and cost too much. Zirkzee is a headless chicken and no where near being a striker in the Prem. Even Diallo is looking completely lost in games and last night spent more time passing backwards than going forwards. Most of the team appear out of sorts and totally confused by our tactics. Heaven help us if we don’t sort this lot out soon.

So we just accept this current manager, as we might not another that can improve our level?

Manchester United accepting their fate as a mid table club, wonderful times.

I'm not sure why we expect that to be any better.
Because they might try something different that carries less risk of conceding 2 or 3 goals against opposition of any half decent level of quality?

De ligt is overweight, slow and cumbersome - he is none of those things really

Ugarte took virtually the full summer to recruit, is not good enough for the Prem and cost too much - that's down to ETH tactics?

Zirkzee is a headless chicken and no where near being a striker in the Prem - quite obviously very interesting player to develop

Diallo is looking completely lost in games - I'd say he was one of our best players so fr this season

I'm not sure why we expect that to be any better.

It irrelevant if it is or not it worth trying to change. ETH is terrible we know that. Can't reward failure and allow him to keep his job because he will inevitably have a good run at some point and potentially be kept on again

De ligt moved like a snail to cover the striker who stepped in front of him for the 3rd Porto goal.
Correct, Ugarte purchase and his form is down to ETH. Didn’t play him last night. Doesn’t trust him.
Zirkzee has scored one fluke goal and last night (again) produced nothing in front of goal.
Diallo is slowly being worn down by ETH by being used too deep in most games, especially last night. I feel sorry for him as he has lots of potential.

We are just hoping then, it might be a worse situation.
Yeah sure but lost hope in ETH…
I had highest hope for him to turn it around this season but there is no progress and same shite as last season

Surely, death man walking?
If Woodward and Murtough were still here, he would have been sacked. I hope Ineos Team prove to us soon that they are more competent than the previous regime.

Feels like they're allowing this to continue so when they present Gareth any marginal improvement on tactics is going to feel like a wonder.

Smart play Ineos, smart play we gonna start begging for Southgate soon

Nevermind title challengers. We're not even mid table challengers on this kind of form. It wasn't even this bad when Ole was here. I just want this nightmare to end.
Me too it’s the worst I can remember as a supporter, I was young at the end of Big Ron’s time.

He’s shifting the blame as usual, everyone else’s fault but his own. I can’t wait to see the back of this joker.
He should be relentlessly grilled about Antony, 90m, his old team, he managed him. Just on repeat until he absolutely melts down.

Yep, that one was criminal. Easily one of, if not the worst transfer we’ve ever made!
The fact we'd have a really competitive argument between Di Maria, Sanchez, Maguire, Antony, DVB, Mount and no doubt many others is really disturbing.

He was shifting through blame before playing a game? Interesting.

I want him out but no need to just make stuff up is there. This is the way it should be, we should be making long term signings that can help us now but aren't dictated precisely by the manager or we end up in a massive mess. The squad is pretty decent really, a new manager will get a way better tune out of them.

To say they weren’t his signings is shifting the blame if he had a big hand in signing them. He clearly likes signing Dutch/former players given his track record here, just because the board are also keen on the signing doesn’t mean the manager wasn’t pushing for them as well. I agree the manager shouldn’t have full control on transfers and I also think a new manager would get much more out of this group of players.

His signings have been awful and overpriced

His tactics are shockingly bad

His lineups and substitutions make no sense.

He has to go......he should probably have been gone last summer before we bought more players for him.

The issue now will be who replaces him. It's too early in the season I think to go for an interim or caretaker.

So once again when the system is not working he makes like for like substitutions and keeps the same system. I really despise this clown now.
Who is replacement him though? I really want rid of him but this won't help without a plan.
At this point I don't care. We could replace him and his 4kin 'process' with a 4kin traffic cone for all I care at the moment.

I'm pretty much done after last night. So many unwanted firsts with this Cloggy fraud, he should've been sacked immediately after the 7-0 loss to the Dippers. His 4fkin process and his "judge us at the end of rhe season" shtick has run it's course, now while should just 4ck off.
