Right. So city announce the much anticipated, and totally expected, moving on of Aguero at the end of the season and your first thought is to log on to the Caf and tell as many people as possible that Haaland is a done deal and United can't compete with city.

Well we can't compete with them over a season due to their unlimited resources, may feel differently if there was any sense of us buying the CB, CDM, RW & ST we so badly need this summer but as usual we are cutting corners

Not really. Out of all the big clubs, we'd have been the most financially competitive and sound club, but if you add clubs like City and PSG they could just drop 500m for a player (with no FFP) and be fine with it. City were rumoured to have made some such bid for Messi in his heyday.

The speculations that City were willing to break their usual ceiling of 60m to go after a striker were true. This transfer will inject a large chunk of money into the market that had been frozen and start the rounds of musical chairs. Now that United has appointed a director of football, he will keep track of the trends in the market and become an active participant. This summer should be replete with opportunities to upgrade the squad. I am looking forward to the transfer news to come.

Well, as expected, we're in March and the summer transfer window is shaping up to be a shit show already. So messy before it's begun. Pogba, Bailly, Lingard - all going in to their final year with no sign of a renewal. I can see all three staying and seeing out their contracts - great work from the board on that. We need a CB, CDM, RW and CF. We'll be lucky to get one of those of the required calibre. I can see a Donny-type signing in one of those positions - maybe Dembele, who is essentially a squad player. The rest will be fluff like last summer. Add in the Euros, which leaves little time to get business done and it's a grim summer.

You're right though Cooper's interview on Utd stand was as grim as it can be if he's even remotely right our focus will be on a CB, cost effective ST or RW and perhaps a back up GK(he mentioned we'll look to move on De Gea as Henderson will likely be 1st choice GK)as Haaland/Sancho won't happen, no DM being looked at, no RB with Dalot likely to come back to be back up to AWB and our budget at best will be £100m. He also did mention Pogba has a higher chance of staying but it looks like an ordinary summer coming up

I don't see it as you being negative at all just realistic and I'm still praying that the ultimate nightmare of City totally eclipsing our treble with a quadruple doesn't become a reality either, that would just make me think they will have basically turned our great game into glorified football manager on cheat mode and that is a really sad thing to see

For all the talk of Chelsea and City paying exorbitant fees for players and how easy it would be for them to drop £150m for Haaland, United still hold the record for paying biggest transfer fees in English football though not much to show for those outlays maybe it would change for Haaland but let's wait and see before hitting the panic button.

Stylistically, Kane suits City better than Haaland.
That makes sense. In the early 10's they bought many players around 20-25M (Silva, Toure, Milner, Balo, Lescott, etc), Aguero was the exception (£38M).
Playstyle wise as well, at least as long as Guardiola is their manager.

For anyone who thinks there's even the slightest chance of Haaland coming here, you need to have your head checked. That's regardless of Aguero leaving City or not.
We simply don't have the cash to be in for the biggest signings right now. It's clear that the pandemic has hit some clubs harder than others, and of the "big" clubs, we're probably one of hardest hit.

Haaland is actually great with his back to the goal. And his first touch is solid. The only real comparison to Lukaku is that they are both big and powerful.

Disagree with this, from the very beginning him and his family were only going for where it was best suited for his development. And for all the discussion BL is an easier league than PL.

Well, seeing as we won't be able to get anywhere near the price it will take to pry him away from Dortmund, Ole is hardly going to factor in at all.
And if he's wanting to take the next step up and be guaranteed of success and career progression, why would he choose us over City right now?
Ole would only have been a bonus if he was still looking to develop, as that's the role Ole had previously played in his career. If Ole couldn't lure Haaland into him choosing us over Dortmund 2 years ago, he's hardly going to be the deciding factor in him choosing us over City/Pep.
But as mentioned, it's sort of immaterial as we won't be able to afford him anyhow.
