Put yourself in Haaland's shoes.

you have the choice of any big club in europe. Juventus, Bayern, Man C, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Liverpool etc

would United be on top of that list?

can we guarantee him the trophies? league titles next season?

Funny that list as only 2 sides on it look set to win their titles this season.

Juventus and Real are skint.
Bayern wouldn’t pay what he costs, neither could Liverpool.
City are a bad fit for him.
Its between United, Chelsea and PSG.

do you think he and his fat prick of an agent will choose United over the others?

His agent won’t be choosing his next club. And he may well choose us over them, if we can pay. We’re a huge club with great prestige, and on the pitch - we are one of the best teams in England.

The only teams that can ‘guarantee’ titles are those in shite leagues he likely doesn’t want to play in (anymore).

I am curious why City will be a bad fit for him. Pep had worked with Lewandowski before so i don't think tactic is an issue if Pep wants him. City pays well, has a world class head coach, a good team that create lots of chance for him and challenges for trophies every season, and he may even play with Messi in the same team for a few years. Why it is a bad fit except Manchester is not London, Paris, Madrid and Barcelona kind of big cities?

Honestly - yes!

We're a team on the up. The right signings next season and we will challenge.

Juve are third in a poor league

Bayern have Lewandowki

Chelsea are not as good as us

Real Madrid are an aging squad and need a massive rebuild

The only realistic rivals are City and Liverpool but we've got as good a chance as any, in my opinion.

Our history, the fact that, as I said before, we're a team who seems to be growing, and the obvious connection he has with Ole. No brainer if I'm Haaland.

Why would the history benefit United in this race? He was a Leeds and a City fan. Also, there is the injury. If anything, United should hope that he would disregard the past and focus on the current state.

I am not sure if Chelsea is not as good as Man Utd player for player. Chelsea has an opening for CF, just like Man Utd/City/Real Madrid, and it is located in London. If Chelsea makes it to Top 4 then its chance is as good as other contenders. If I were Haaland I will pick City. It is no brainer like you said.

Mino Raiola works for Haaland, not the other way around. Raiola and his father will give him advice, and Raiola will get the best deal for his client.

They are very likely to have finished behind us two seasons in a row come summertime, with a real chance that this one will include not qualifying for the CL. There is tangible evidence to them not being as good as us - although there isn’t loads in it of course.

City bad fit? De nile isn't just a river in Egypt.

I'm not sure people outside Manchester United are looking at us thinking that we are on the up and are going to be great.

Haaland could have joined us before and while we tried to sell the idea we turned it down because of Raiola's demands, I'm sure he just looked around and thought Dortmund would be a better place for him to develop. Could easily happen again.

City are almost perfect for him. They need a striker, Pep would make a system work with him in it, clear favourites for the league, champions league contenders, big money. Hope he doesn’t do it, of course. If they go for Messi, we have a better chance.

A question, if we have $150m to spend next year and he is available around that price, will you take him over other positions? I will put all other position on hold, we have good midfield and a decent defence....

My answer is YES, the amount of points we have missed bcoz of lack of proper striker is amazing.....Will we become world beaters? No, will be get a crack at PL, 100% yes.... all it’s required is 1 player to turn things around ... remember Suarez?

Get him on a long term contract 5+1 when transfer window open ... Sell Martial...(he will never be a 30-40 goals a year stricter, anything around $50m for him I will take... stop hyping him, he doesn’t have the mentality to be a world class player)...Build a team around him....net spend $100m...

I would still pick Sancho at a likely 75m or so. Mainly because I don't think Haaland will stay anywhere for more than 3-5 years. So I'd prefer to miss out on Haaland this time around and sort out the right wing and possibly defence while still getting elite players like Sancho, and then potentially having Greenwood develop into an elite striker himself. One that would stay his whole career.

I will take 3-5 years of Haaland in a heartbeat. It would be nice to win a PL sometimes this decade.

What’s the point in filling the midfield or RW when we can’t finish the chances, we have enough players (assuming Pogba stays) to create chances in a game.... we need a lethal striker to finish it off..... this guy has everything.... If a chance is there, just don’t miss even if he is here for 5 years.... it will be well worth it.....

We don't create chances

We still following the ‘position sorted for the next 10 years’ caf philosophy I see.

We definitely need to sort out the striker situation, don't get me wrong, it's just I think Greenwood can develop into that. And no, our problems are still creativity. Our finishing is quite good for the chances we create, as evidenced by us being well above our xG in terms of actual goals this season. Of course a better striker gets in more chances as it is, but anyway. Our right wing is the biggest hole in our team, sorting that out would fix a whole lot of issues and put a platform for the striker to get the best out of him. Sancho is an elite young player, and will sort out our right wing for years to come.

Well it's no secret that Haaland will only want to stay for a few years max regardless of team success. He's a guy who wants to win in every league and has no issues jumping between leagues and teams. He's a great player, but you know who is also a great player? Sancho, who is English, 20 years old, and likely would be set on the right wing at United for the foreseeable future. Greenwood also has elite potential. So forgive me for dreaming of a very realistic Rashford-Greenwood-Sancho front 3.

As far as I know, it is a secret, unless he has come out and said otherwise. And so what if he doesn’t stay until 33? That isn’t a reason to not sign players. A very small number of players spend their careers at a club.

Sancho is also a great player, yes. But the idea of our front 3 being all English means nothing to me. And there is no guarantee at all that Sancho will be our right winger for many years anyway. For a start, he’s more left-sided, and secondly, we have Amad who is naturally right sided and is just coming into the squad. There’s nothing to say that HE won’t be in our front three for years to come.

Regarding Greenwood, I felt similarly about signing Haaland a year or so ago - but it’s clear that Haaland is a superior centre forward, and not even clear that Mase is a striker at all. He looks less and less of one everytime he plays there.

I’m a big Sancho fan, but it’s a no-brainer between him and Haaland if it were a choice. I’d happily have both though, although I’m less sure whether Sancho is needed until I’ve had a proper look at Amad now.

Break the phucking bank.

But if our bank isn’t large enough, it isn’t going to happen anyway. Talk of all other needs is subordinate to bringing in a great striker...and yes, I am aware we put 9 past Southampton and thus have scored more goals than anyone else in the PL.

However, we have scored exactly 1 goal against all other Big 6 opponents.

There is a big difference in quality between Greenwood (not to say Greenwoods isn't good) and Haaland....He is only one years old than Greenwood and already one of the best strikers in the world. And what's the problem in having both? Move Cavani and Martial.

Its the same argument, why can't Amad be developed into RW and why bother going for Sancho.

The only team I think can challenge us is City but to be honest I haven't seen City paying over the top sums recently....What was the last time they bought at 70+m player? The other is Chelsea (They just bought a new Stricker this year at decent money so doubt they will go for him and they have back issues to resolve as a priority).

If Liverpool miss top 4 this year, with their finances they are definitely not in the picture
...
Its about taking advantage of the current environment, we are financially better off vs pretty much anyone ... Real and Barca don't have money, and seriously why would you join Italian league?

He will win us the league sooner than later.....If we can get him any where near 120m...or even higher and if we can financially...JUST DO IT

I'd be delighted if Amad can step in pretty quickly. My feeling with him is he will be a top player, but a few years away and it's best to develop him as a squad player for a bit. He'll force his way in. Disagree with Greenwood. I think he looks more and more like a striker who is being played out on the wing generally. And it's a hard position to learn so it just takes time to adapt to it at the highest level. We just have to persist with Greenwood top IMO. Not saying he'll reach Haaland level, and if Haaland is actually possible of course go for him, but I just think Sancho is such a perfect fit for our right wing, both to compliment Wan Bissaka, but also the other 2 in our front 3 with Rashford on the left, along with Greenwoods potential. It's a position we've neglected for ages and it's a perfect player for it (disagree him being more of a left sided player, he plays 90% of games on the right), while Greenwood I am convinced will make it, just not at all on the wing. I don't care about them all being English, I meant it more like they're less likely to push to leave, but also 2 of the 3 would be United products.

Would happily see him as our only marquee signing this summer but certain he either won't leave until next year or we will get completely blown away by either Chelsea or City

I’m almost certain he’s coming to the premier league. Barca, Real, Juve not good enough. PSG no real competition. Bayern already have Lewandowski. Inter are in financial ruin.

The four prem options are United, City, Liverpool and Chelsea. But if Liverpool and/or Chelsea fail to make top 4, their chances would be doubtful too. United have got a very strong chance as a team on the rise and if he’d be accepting the more challenging role and lifting that team up even further. You also need a player of his qualities.

I think we are equally as confident in getting his signature. We have the advantage of the manager and the already world class team where he’d be guaranteed success. But I don’t know, his attitude strikes me as one that would thrive in a more rigid environment such as United.

All bias aside, I’m confident we’ll get him;)

I doubt he will leave this summer unless BVB doesn't make CL next season, or BVB tell him he is not needed for next season. He has more time to develop technically and also physically in a familiar environment, and the financial benefit for leaving at release clause is a lot more attractive. Move club during pandemic when all clubs are in financial difficulty is also not the best idea.

I think we would be one of the clubs with the biggest chance to sign Haaland.

Number 1. He has clearly said that the PL is the league he wants to dominate. Right now the La Liga looks like a shop full of left overs - Haaland going there and playing with Rodrygo and Isco or Griezmann and braithwaite isnt going to happen. Considering he has done well in the German league today and has probably felt like he can do all he can do as an individual (not winning German trophies) - then I hardly see him joining Bayern Munich unless he is in love with Germany. I see him moving to La Liga or Serie A when the league itself is strong with a strong team.

Number 2. Who will he pick out the of the PL clubs?

* City - has family history, the club can afford him. Some argue that City need a striker replacing Aguero (they do) but arguably at times City also play well without a striker. Pep clearly values gabriel jesus in my opinion. Possession football and Haaland isnt the most well linked in my opinion but Haaland may value the opportunity to grow his understanding of the game with the management of Pep Guardiola.

* Liverpool- cant afford, their forwards doesnt seem their weakness and they just bought Jota. Playing Haaland in the middle of Salah and Mane doesn't seem balanced and is arguably a team that presses more than creating chances for their number 9.

* Chelsea - Tuchel may value that type of striker and arguably Giroud and Ambraham are either not good enough or ageing. There must be significant pressure on players like Ziyech, Werner, Pulisc and Havertz performing - buying Haaland may help with it just as much as it adds to the problem.

* Manchester United- a team that are looking like they are slowly but steadily improving to be the 2nd, 3rd best team in England but need a striker since Martial, Greenwood and Cavani have not produced and or ageing. He has worked with Ole before which could be a benefit aswell as a problem. He may feel that knowing Ole will settle him as a valuable player - likewise it might be a negative where he has felt he has learnt as much as he can already (especially since the fans say that Ole is an individual player type coach and wont coach him furthermore ). Haaland valued that Dortmund felt like they wanted him more than United- when he moves this time, knowing Ole wanted him before may be useful. There is rumours that Pogba may sign a contract which if he does may help Raiola agreeing with United. If he leaves it might become slightly harder from an agents recommendations etc. Dad has said it's okay if Haaland plays for United. The 4231 tactics suit Haaland and the Creativity within United is increasing to promote a traditional number 9 (Shaw, Bruno, Pogba, etc). The ex history of a legendary Norwegian player for us may also help as he enjoys the hype.

I personally think we have a very good go. Chelsea and City are the alternatives in my mind in that order.

Not all players need the instant guarantee for titles. Some of them choose based on the project, playing time etc. Bringing the title back to Utd and being one of the players mainly responsible is an attractive proposition id think. Haaland will be the main man here, he'll be paid well, he will get champions league football and he'll be playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world. We're not a bad place to be for the top players.

Well we are a club on the up. At least we arent in need of a major rebuild like Juve, Madrid and Barca are.
Where can he go outside of England that can afford him?

He might not want to go to a club like PSG, Bayern, City who are almost as good as they can get. Him and his team might see United as a club who are improving, where he can help them improve a lot too, while earning a lot of money and getting even bigger global exposure and playing in the PL. Then see how things go in a few years and then decide to another big money move.

There absolutely no reason why he wouldn't choose United. He's not making a long lasting career move.

Love him as a player but think the team would benefit from Sancho more.

We have improved. Doesn't mean people look at us as a team that can really win the league or the champions league.

As for where can he go, doesn't he have a not too high release clause? I know Barca are in trouble, but possibly Real or Juventus can handle it. Add Bayern and clubs in England, and he'll not be lacking options.

Not many outside of City or Bayern look strong, even Bayern have dropped levels from where they were.
Its a weak period for elite sides. Put Haaland up top for us and we leap right to the head of the queue for where European football is at the minute.
There is no clause this summer so its 100m plus to even get Dortmund to consider it.
Its just a weird sentiment to have. When an elite player like Sancho wanted to move to us it was reasoned away as having a free run or other such nonsense but a top player did want to join United. Now top clubs can find ways to buy elite players when theyre in a worse financial situation 12 months later and a top player would never see us as a possible destination?
Its just plucking reasons out of thin air.

No, we reject Haaland. It's well known Raiola wanted a release clause of around £68M within 2 years. Woodward may get a bad rap around here, but I'm glad that he said no to that ridiculous clause. 1 because it's within 2 years and 2 how ridiculously cheap it is!

The level of disrespect shown to Manchester United on this forum by supposed fans of the club never ceases to amaze me. Why would Haaland join us? Get fecked you utter sour puss cretins.

...& then bitch and moan when he joins a rival and starts banging in the goals that Ole/Woodward didn't do enough and our owners are tight. This forum loves to be upset mate haha

A lot of it will come down to how strong his relationship is with Ole. Football wise you'd have to say that he'd score an avalanche of goals playing for City, but I suspect United will know exactly where we stand in terms of our chances of a future transfer, and for me the signing of Cavani as an effective 'placeholder' could be a crucial piece of evidence that we have some kind of emotional commitment from him that he would seriously consider coming to United.

History shows (even recent history) that United are prepared to flex our muscles when it comes to a player that we really want. We did with Sanchez, and Lukaku, and Pogba and Maguire and so on and so on, so I'm not overly concerned that we will have any reluctance in going all in on this one if needs be.

Ultimately it comes down to what the player wants to do, and for all of these embarrassing fans that love to be a downer on the club and claim that United have no drawing power these days, seriously give your heads a wobble. We are a global giant of a football club, we have an exciting young team that will definitely improve, we have the financial power to get this done, and (crucially for me) we have a manager that has a personal relationship with the player.

I think we’re as likely a destination as any, but he’ll absolutely have his pick of Europe when he does decide to move. Real, Barca, Bayern, Chelsea, City and PSG will all surely be in for him.

ok we're getting him with sancho for a £180million dollar deal martial goes the other way. we get koulibaly and the next virgil van dijk and trippier also de gea finally goes to madrid we use that cash for Oblak or donnaruma and pogba stays or goes depending if you like him or not. we win the title next season, then the double a year later.

It will happen. happy now?
