Erling Haaland

Liverpool make far to much sense.
They are saving money already for a big deal.
Imagine them with a real Striker...p

Ronaldo isn't an ordinary 36/37 yr old though. He's still super super fit, scoring goals at a high rate and still capable of playing 40-50 games a season. Unless God forbid he gets a bad injury or flops hard at some point it's extremely wishful thinking imagining Ronaldo with his GOAT status and massively gigantic ego accepting a bench role to Haaland who's just 21/22 with both of them on similar wages. If Mbappe can want to ditch PSG even with Messi there there's every chance Haaland won't want to come here too knowing he'd have an everyday battle with Ronaldo trying to be the main man
Signing Ronaldo on a 2 year contract was never a longterm solution. Ole and Ronaldo knows this and it should not stand in the way of signing a longterm solution.

What is up with Insta and Twitter handles and constant linking of Haaland with Barcelona.
Is it just fantasy of some weirdos in social media, with them trying to revive a rivalry in the ilk of Messi/Ronaldo, with Mbappe going to Real Madrid, so they are sure Haaland will go to Barcelona.

You said yourself. The social media internet fan who cannot watch a 90 minute without looking at his phone 10 times and writing something about their favourite player

Are you an old man? You're speaking as if you're living in the early 2000's. Life has moved on, old timer. Social media and phones are here and they're the equivalent of talking to others during a match. Do you sit in silence for the whole 90 when there are others with you?

News flash: people like to discuss and talk with others about things. Social media makes it possible. Stop talking down upon it.

How is that different to people on redcafe posting on a matchday forum during the game?

No I thought there must be something, did Laporte promised something about Haaland?
At one point Laporta talked to Raiola when he was travelling around Europe offering his wares. But obviously Barcelona has no way of being able to afford Haaland’s wages or transfer fee.

Sorry I triggered you so bad. I’ll try to be kinder in the future.

Redcafe is social media. Most of the match day forum posters focus on the thread more than the actual game involving United.

I really don’t think Haaland would mind sharing the spotlight and striker position for a season. He wants to be the best he could possibly be, why would he not be interested in working alongside someone who can be mentioned as an all-time GOAT?

Maybe not the case, but I don’t think it’s as open-shut as people in here seem to think it is.

We should send Ronaldo to talk to him inform him that he's signing for us. Who would say no to a goat? It's not a thing.

Haaland is likely one of the best players of the coming decade.
He's not some 14 year old fanboy.

Ronaldo talking to him isn't going to make him drooling over United.

This is absolutely outrageous.

How'd he manage that?

Ok it's a great finish but that is absolutely laughably wank defending. I really hope we get to see the lad in a proper league soon.

Kind of maks sense? He's covering the 'sweeper' area. Or must Gk's stick to their goalline when the ball is al the other side of the pitch?
It absolutely makes sense. The defender puts pressure on Haaland, so he has to directly finish the attack otherwise he would be running to the end of the pitch besides the goal, and the GKs movement forces him to do this artistic finish. If he would stay on the line, a powerful shot on the goal out of reach of the GK would have been difficult but possible, with him standing so close to Haaland there would not have been a chance to do it that way.

no it doesn't make sense as he got chipped....he never allowed the defender to actually defend and he was in a decent defensive position plus the ball was bouncing. if he comes a couple yards off his line to cut down the angle for the shot that would make way more sense

The thing is, he's made for Liverpool's constant high and long direct balls. It's bad enough with Mane and Salah running onto a long raking ball but imagine Haaland on the end of them. It'd be chaos.

It really doesn't.

if he stays on his line the defender forces Haaland wide or at least puts him under pressure enough to not get an easy shot away. The goalkeeper is a lot more likely to save it from a tigher angle.

Instead he runs out and leaves a huge gap for Haaland to take a much easier lob shot. It's a goalkeeper error 100%

This guys progression has not stalled once since he arrived into professional football.

An utter machine , his next move will be so interesting as this guy will win it all for you and for certain will be winning more than 1 Balon d'OR in his career, him and Mbappe will be the next generation of Ronaldo vs Messi (not in terms of talent as those two are in another stratosphere, i mean two current biggest players in football) but I think Haaland will come out on top,,

The only sensible move i feel he can make imo if he is to leave Dortmund next year will be in England or to Bayern, I can't see either Barca or Madrid winning the UCL for a few years yet until they both rebuild. I think personally it will be between Us, City, Chelsea, Bayern & Madrid. PSG will try and throw the world at him with Mbappe leaving but no way he goes to play in France.

He did something similar til Koulibaly and Van Dijk in previous games as well. He's an animal

Again it's Ronaldo not just any random ST. Him being on a short term deal doesn't automatically mean sharing a spot with Haaland is possible in practicality but only imagination when you factor in the status they hold in football and quality they have. As long as he's fit and in form there's no chance in hell Ronaldo and Haaland play in the same team.
Do you think Lewandowski at 33 or Messi at 34 will accept being rotated by anybody as long as their form and fitness is good? If the answer is no then it's ten times more applicable with Ronaldo who's winning mentality is maniacal

Mbappe wants to ditch PSG despite Messi being there because he wants to be the main man at Madrid not play alongside a Goat of football. These players care more about being dominant players than being fanboys. Haaland will want to go somewhere where he'll be the main man and start week in week out to boost his chances of winning the Ballon D'or and he's much more likely to get that status somewhere like City(who will be in the running to sign him) than us

Mbappe has been with PSG for four years already maybe he is looking for new challenge and he also realises a contract extension would make it almost impossible for him to leave in near future as well ,his desire to leave has nothing to do with Messi .
Though I agree with you Haaland won't be moving to a team where he isn't the main man long term but sharing spotlight with Ronaldo for a year shouldn't be a deal breaker either

You know they’re different people, yeah? Like I said, I might be wrong, but Norwegians get saturated coverage on our top players, and as indicated by Haaland’s club choices, I think he won’t mind "hurrying slowly", as we say in Norway. He’s in no rush, he wants to get as good as he can, and learning from Ronnie up close might be more appealing to him than you think.

Ronaldo is 36. While his fitness is freakish for his age one injury could be the end. He is the definition of a short term fix as much as we'd want him here for another 7 years.

Isn't that why we have Greenwood whom we plan to be our future No9? Him and Haaland in one team is counter productive as they're practically the same age and Greenwood is getting closer to the age where he'll want to start weekly as well but right now his status is much easier to share a spot with Ronaldo much more than Haaland

Unfortunately, it's just hard to see a way where we can have both Ronaldo and Haaland happy in the same team. This is why I was skeptical about a Ronaldo transfer long-term.

There's nothing long-term about the Ronaldo transfer though. Surely, in terms of squad dynamics and playing time, the two could coexist for a season.
If a player like Haaland can be signed, you sign him, and if he has to compete with Ronaldo for a while, so be it. He might as well love the opportunity to play in one team with such a legend, who knows.

If there's any negative impact of the Ronaldo transfer on your prospects of signing Haaland at all, it would conceivably be in terms of finances and wage bill, but I can't judge that.
Haaland is a strategic signing for 10, 15 years.

In the big scheme of things the club should sign him and the problems that are derived from that are secondary.
Exactly.

It's not a long-term move but Haaland will be on the move next summer with the release clause kicking in (when Ronaldo enters year 2 of his contract here). So Ronaldo will definitely be in the team as an automatic starter and if you're bringing a player like Haaland in, he's also expecting to start. So how are we going to play two #9s together? The other issue is that they're both pure goalscoring forwards and neither of them tend to drop deep to get involved in build up play much. That's not counting the other attacking talent we have, such as Sancho, Greenwood, Rashford who all expect to feature regularly (along with Bruno playing #10 also being an automatic starter). The squad is already unbalanced and it would become more unbalanced bringing Haaland in. I just don't see it as an appealing situation from Haaland's perspective.

Greenwood will top them both budy.

With Mino in charge, this guy will start looking for a Spain move in 3-4 years. He isn't going to be cheap either. The release clause is only to Dortmund. we still need to give him and his agent a nice brownie.

Haaland frequently drops deep to get involved in build up play. His assist to Marco Reus against Frankfurt in season opener is a prime example.

I love the optimism of people thinking even if we sign Haaland, he will be here for 10-15 years. Guys, his agent is Raiola. He will stay here for 5 years, and then leave on a free to Real Madrid.
