Your anti-Norway bias is strong and very evident. It’s getting boring
Not anti-Norway. Read my posts regarding Kristoffer Olsson. Who is very Swedish. So maybe I am anti-Scandinavian except for being one myself.
Feck me I guess...
I actually like Haaland as a player. IMO he is not right at that investment for United now. When the money can be better invested elsewhere.
And I have no idea how posts about "top-speed" has anything to do with being xenophobic or whatever you are accusing me of. Its something that is being branded all over media when its just a crap stat.

One thing I thought was quite important, when ole was asked the question about Haaland coming to united, he answered then immediately looked across to the press officer, and gave her a look like “is this right? Has something changed?” Almost like he wasn’t sure if something had been given away a bit.

might not mean anything but it seemed an odd thing to do mid question like that, why would cath the press officer know any better? Unless...

Personally, I think he's doing a better job of recruitment than any of the previous 3 and I like how he's trying to rebuild the culture at the club that his predecessors did so much to destroy. I don't see too many risks to giving him another year and backing him in the transfer market a bit. There are very legitimate doubts over his coaching ability, although I for one would absolutely love to see him succeed. If nothing else, I think when he does go he'll leave the club in a better state than when he arrived and I think that he's the first manager since Sir Alex to do that.
Agreed. Maybe he could be an excellent DOF here.

Posts like this is whats wrong with the Caf now.
There are plenty of arguments for why Haaland should not be a target for us now. Has nothing to do with his nationality or whatever.
Grow up mate.

I knew that you are Swedish, and I wasn’t replying specifically to that post about speed (which I agree is a load of cack). I just felt that throughout this thread you’ve come across a little bit like you don’t want him because he’s Norwegian. I know how you scandis get :)

20 million is nothing for a club like ManUtd.

I think one of the most fascinating questions here is if Haaland has a release clause or not. No one seems to know.
Especially with what happened with Odegaard and his dad being paid the shit for coaching the Reals under 6 or something. And Raiola getting involved....

Going by how he is talking to every club, its safe to assume he has low release clause. Otherwise Dortmund won't try to sign him.

My thinking also. That is why i don't know what are we waiting for. Submit offer, give him contract and that is it. If we want him we should have advantage against Dortmund.
Not saying that we need to give him 250k and 10mil to Raiola of course but this should be easy transfer to make.

We are not waiting though, player is taking time to make decision which is normal.

Also not really, Dortmund is very interesting club for player development. He is just 18/19, so plenty of time to make a big jump.

I can't see him going to a club that isn't playing the CL next season.

With a release clause, should have been over one way or another. Like Liverpool did with Minamino, but they are a big club not a former big club.

Worst post of the year.

Well done mate, looks like you snatched it at the last.

I know, like we can just strong arm anyone to join us.

For all you know this deal might be done, and just waiting to announce it, but because life it is waiting to be announced.

Maybe you should just PM George in future before posting.

Just the daily check in!

how are all the muppets getting on?
Any flights or insta/Twitter goodness?

I can’t muppet hard anymore. Thiago and Vidal sagas broke me.

Nothing is happening for a while I reckon. He's on his Xmas break with family.

Sometimes they happen. Pogba happened with 800+ pages on here! The muppetry was huge in that thread. Remember Pogs red shoes instagram photo.? You just have to believe my friend!

I believe Haaland will be ours come January. Not hopefull, just confident.

At the age of 19, this isnt the most important thing at all. He have time to play cl football later. And it's still possible United will play in champions league next season. Not likely but possible.

When a player like Haaland becomes available you just buy them if they want to join.

Any selection headaches are good problems are a club since you then have a strong squad.

Mods: Can we allow the posting of youtube links and not make youtube play-window automatically appear? It makes the formatting of the posts SO bad.

You're missing the context of the stat. The speed was measured over a very short distance, like most top speeds are. The point you have to view this in reference to, is that Haaland is the same height as Zlatan. That is outrageous pace for someone that tall over that distance. He's able to create so much downwards push with his feet despite his height over a short distance. Ie. he has world class acceleration. To put this into sporting context, tall sprinters are "slow" in the start and faster in the end. It's just a trait of being tall. And no I'm not saying Haaland is a world class sprinter, I'm putting his height into context with his speed and acceleration on the football field.

Haaland is not a good investment? We don't exactly have a lot of options when Martial is injured do we? We need a solid quad that can rotate. And Haaland is cheap, he barely dents the transfer budget.

But just take a look at any of the readily available highlight clip to see examples of his acceleration. For example this one: where he just outpaces absolutely everyone. The start of the compilation also has many examples of the same:

There are things that you can knock Haaland for, but to even go there with his speed or acceleration is just meaningless.

Ole's interviews, plus how long it takes the player to decide. They're all showing he's milking out the United attention, while he already decides to go somewhere else.

Said it before, it reeks Griezman and Hazard's saga.

I think Haaland is a wrong signing. I think Ole will end up having a bias towards Norwegian players and I think it will end up been detrimental... Norway rarely produces world class players, and when it does they are mostly hard working defenders.

His dexterity and touches around players with the ball at his feet reminds me of Pogba's style probably due to the height of both. Pogba is a bit more languid though.

Fair enough. I don't really care if we sign Håland or not due to not knowing how good he is/will be myself, but I want the club to get another couple of attackers with scoring and extremely good creating abilities while i also think the squad needs another great dm, cb and lb.

The reported price on Håland and his numbers makes him a good budget option that makes it possible to find other good signings for the other spots we need upgrades in. I think that's a big reason as to why people want him.

Far between world class players from Norway, but the best ones have been players from all over the pitch. Martin Ødegård, John Carew, Tore André Flo and Ole himself are examples of offensive players who have made a mark internationally and who play high up the pitch.

I am pretty sure I read a credible source (cant remember which, but it was Norwegian) that they wanted to make the decision before Christmas.

But that doesnt mean it will be announced before ofcourse.

Who are all these world class defenders Norway produced?
We had Rune Bratseth and Ronny Johnsen who were absolutely good, but world class?
I don’t think so, imo they’re at the same level as Solskjær was, a great player for club and country, but never world class.

But, all those three were / could’ve been good enough for Manchester United though, and maybe Haaland will be as well. It would be stupid dropping him as a transfer target because Norway only produces world class defenders, that’s for sure.

You’re right. I was being polite. Norway don’t produce any world class players.

What a stupid thing to say. Just because a nation hasn’t had a world class player before doesn’t mean they won’t in the future.

Northern Ireland are hardly regular churners of high quality players, yet shat out a generational talent in Georgie best.

more established countries might make them more regularly, but to use that as an excuse not to sign somebody? How pathetic

Seems like a De Ligt scenario big holiday and then disappointment for the many. Not too surprising considering the only thing De Ligt and Haland have in common is Raiola.
