Weird, I always think of Swindon when I think of Fjortoft. Totally forgot he played for Boro.
Think he played at Sheffield utd and Barnsley as well. And in the Bundesliga at the end of his career..

Who is this guy? Is he very reliable with all things Norway?

He's a former Norwegian international from the same generation as OSG. They are friends or at least friendly acquaintances. He's played in both England and Germany (Middlebrough, Swindon, Barnsley and Sheffield United) plus Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany. He's got some connections, but he's more of a pundit with opinions than a very reliable source. He is not someone who breaks news or has a lot of first hand information.

As good of an addition he'd be, we need a no.10/CAM first.
see, this is the kind of argument that I don't get. You don't pass up the opportunity to snap up a super-talented player who is available for a cheap price at this time just because you have other needs too. No doubt we need to invest in midfield, but that shouldn't even be a factor here. If you can get Haland, you do it.

That's fair enough as long as it doesn't get in the way of us making that much needed no.10/CAM signing. The club's fallen for the mistake of using up most of the budget signing expensive players in positions we're stocked up in the recent past, whilst neglecting weaker positions, leaving our team well out of balance for a long time. We have Martial, Rashford and Greenwood in the striker role vs Mata, Lingard and Pereira for the no.10 role, one position needs addressing more urgently than the other.

What do you know about the clubs budget spending?

Is he the guy Keane punched in the face and was red carded against?

EDIT- I just looked it up and it is. What's Keane got against Norwegians?

That's what you got out of that comment? Our average net spend over the last 5 seasons has been around £75 million per season so that's a good enough idea. I'm not sure if Haaland has a wacky clause in his contract or not, but if he doesn't then he'll easily cost around that. If the budget is big enough for him and a CAM then great.

Yes, thanks.

Due to how much I seem to watch these days I haven't actually seen an awful lot more of James. Who I would assess like this...

Not definitely gonna make it but has a chance due to the lightning first 5 yards, very good spirit and plays with his head up, nice first touch and doesn't over complicate. I'd be worried about him being so small and I don't like the diving, because I don't think it helps him, as much as anything. Might be very useful for 2-3 years then fade. I don't see how you don't really rate him though.

I have a reasonably good previous record, apart from DDG, who I categorically thought was never gonna make it.

I'm not saying Haaland wouldn't, I was just smashing out a speculative clueless opinion to see how hot we are for this guy.

At least it's interesting. I've seen us buy a lot worse, that's for sure.
Criminal.

Am not one for emojis but Leeds fan at work thinks he’s off to them in the summer...... good for a laugh!

Yeah, but Haaland wants to play EVERY match, and Ole shouldn’t guarantee that.
Don't change the narrative, "Want to be a starter" has different meaning with "Want to play every match".

Every footballer wants to be a starter, but none of them would play every match.

He might be a natural freak, but Haaland is not a cyborg. Who said Ole can't guarantee him as a starter?

He also played in Austria - he started his foreign career in Rapid Wien - where he scored 60+ goals in 120 matches

Did he sign a United shirt, just to hastily cover it up by pretending to sign a few other shirts?
Better than that.
Thiago was the man of the match when Spain won the u-21 euros.
David de Gea then signed Thiagos match ball with “nos vemos en Manchester”

Anyways, back to Haaland.

Anything related to Haaland is related to Roy Keane too, for some reason.

The way our club has been run post-2013 is a lesson on how not to do it.

What makes him a Lukaku type striker?

He seems more hungry and looks to have a better touch? We need a striker now not wait for 3/4 years and wait for him.

Ole has already managed him once, so he knows what kind of personality he has and Ole got rid of Lukaku.

I am pretty sure Ole would not sign him if he thought he will be like Lukaku.

Check some video of Lukaku 6 - 7 years ago and you will se exactly the same type of the player. Lukaku wasnt huge like he is today, he was quick, he was hungry (and he still is btw), they are both classic number 9s, very tall, very strong, like to shoot from every angle, calm in 1 on 1 situations. Lukaku was maybe better, because when he was 19, he already played in PL for WHU and proved himself.

I have no idea who is Lukaku as a person and I dont really care. I just dont see any sense right now - selling Lukaku (with loss) and buying similar type of the player with no experience at top level.

No new news in Norwegian papers this morning, so I guess it’s as much on as it was yesterday and the day before.
Wtf? So we are just left with that Ole quote in the subject line and we have to get through whole day with that only? I demand more quotes and inside scoops from 'reliable sources.'
