Erik ten Hag vs Sancho | Sancho back in full training

If I'm Ten Hag & see Sancho make 82 appearances to be nothing more than straight up dogshite and require mid-season holidays due to his fragility I'm probably going to find it difficult to muster up the willpower to not slap the shit out of him as clearly nothing matters.
"Fragility"? What if he had real personal/psychological issues?

I stand with ETH fully. We have pampered these overpaid big babies for long.
as much as we can agree, coming in front of the media and throwing a single player under the bus is never good for keeping the group cohesive.
it is a quite big switch of behavior if we compare with few months ago when he was protecting De Gea after his mistakes.
Not sure, but the atmosphere in the dressing room seems no longer being a honey moon with the players have lost confidence in ETH.
hope I am wrong

Once a sap, always a sap.

So nothing really improved in 4 years then. He still thinks he is being scapegoated. Time to leave Sancho. You can be a scapegoat somewhere at 1/4th of the salary you are earning now. And then you'll understand what every manager was trying to drill into your thick skull.

Continue to fight for the badge, eh? He surely means serving up utterly shite, gutless performances week in, week out while robbing the club blind with that salary.

Not to mention being the biggest coward on the pitch, constantly dodging challenges like his pal Rashy did today.

The sooner he fecks off the better. Perhaps he needs one of his mental break holidays to be a permanent one.

Feck Sancho. Been obvious since he got here that he has attitude problems. He's delusional if he thinks anyone is backing him over ETH.

He didn't specifically name drop him. He was asked about why McT and Sancho were absent for today's match and he gave an honest answer about them both. Honestly it was a nothing statement only made bigger because Sancho felt he needed to release a stupid PR statement instead of trying to prove ETH wrong.
You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices. So for this game he [Sancho] wasn't selected'

I don’t want to get into semantics.
Sancho had 2 years before Antony came in.

If he was any good on the right, Antony wouldn't be at the club.
Yea, we’re done here.
When has that ever happened? It hasn’t. You’re the one moaning and making things up to bash the manager. He didn’t name drop him. He was asked about Mctominay and Sancho and he answered.
I touched on semantics in my previous reply, you’ve either A) chosen to ignore it or B) Lack comprehension.

I am not ‘bashing the manager’. Jog on.

Is this the same Erik judging Martial's performance today as "very good" judging Sancho's training this week as subpar?

You can flip that around you know. Erik, the one who rarely calls his players out in public has decided enough is enough. Now, to add some context, consider the fact that Sancho was given an extended time off last season to sort himself out, has constantly under performed and is one of the highest paid players in the club.

Let's face it, the moment Sancho signed for us he thought he had made it and stopped trying. Was about time he was called out about it.

Flashbacks to Lingard doing the same thing

Yep. And where is Lingard now?

Sancho is basically throwing his toys out of the pram because he can't take criticism like a man and because his ego is more fragile than a house of cards. All of that comes now after Ten Hag pulled him out of the spotlight in order to focus on training and fitness. What else can any sane manager do until he decides that enough is enough? Personally I hope more players will be thrown under the bus if they can't put up the work on a daily basis in Carrington.

Someone better remind Sancho one very one thing: I don't want to know where he would be if there was no football as a way out for him because he is clearly pissing that opportunity away.

Confirming what we all knew. Another terrible big money signing.

If you want to depress yourself, look up online how much Sancho earns per year and then work out how much he's earned in total since being here.

It's maddening.

So long as Antony goes with him.

I’m not the guy to quote in defence of Sancho, I’m more than aware of his shortcomings. The point is it’s particularly hard for EtH to talk about standards when our no.21 & his marquee signing sets new lows in standards weekly.

Mid-season holiday/mental fragility comments from a man posting on an internet forum is ironic. None of us are hard men lad, we guys up late tapping away at keyboards, relax.

Sack Ten Hag sell Sancho and Antony as we're into it.

Problem solved.

I'm talking seriously by the way.

Get out.

And for as long as the leeches are still around, I have zero trust in them for finding a new manager capable to taking the job where he should be.

Did anyone even notice he wasn't in the squad today? I mean I'm so non-chalant about this guy being at the club I forget him until I see him coming on as a sub and doing nothing.
Total waste of 350k a week. I've only just remembered he plays for us cause of the whole ETH vs Sancho thing

Oh, it was a year. Who cares.

I still stand by it.

If Sancho was performing and was any good on the right, Antony wouldn't be here.

Sancho has (in all competitions) :-

5 goals, 3 assists in 38 games in 2021/22
7 goals, 3 assists in 41 games in 2022/23
0 goals, 0 assists in 3 games in 2023/24

That's 12 goals, 6 assists in 82 games overall!

That's absolutely garbage. This mofo is playing his ass on autopilot. He don't press, even if his teammates are busting ass. He don't track back and defend. He doesn't take anyone on. He hardly makes forward passes. This dude has been straight up garbage for 82 games and has the nerve to talk about playing with a smile?

Hell, Antony in his first season had :-

10 goals, 5 assists in 47 games in 2022/23!

Only two goals and one assist short of what Sancho has done in two seasons already. Add to that the fact that Antony absolutely works his ass off more than almost anyone in the side, and at least helps us retain the ball in difficult periods.

Feck me. Another one. Where are you getting this idea from that he said Sancho isn’t trying in training?

Point I was trying to make is that there are other ways to say what he said, more diplomatic ways. If he wants to rattle the cage a bit I'm all for it, I'm no Sancho fan.

Sancho should do his talking on the pitch. It's not a good show when he refutes the manager in public. If a manager feels its ok to criticize a players poor performance in training, then I assume its been a problem for a long time. The manager making it public as a last ditch effort in hopes the player will get the message. Given how poor Sancho has been on the field it makes sense if he's not a good trainer.

It's not that deep and it very rarely ever is. Banishing players to the reserves is petty and doesn't help anyone.
It is that deep. He's basically calling the manager a liar and painting himself as some victim that's being treated unfairly. I have no time for that crap.

Sancho will need to be moved on now. Shame really.

It's good that ETH does not lie about players but he could have maybe been less direct and said he's not been feeling good this week in training and been a bit nicer about it. That he chose not to suggests he's done with him.

So if he's not showing anything or working hard and the manager doesn't want him. Sell him then. Don't wait until right after the window is closed and then decide to completely alienate a player you're stuck with.

If you want to motivate him, then figure out the best way to do that, but it's not likely to be by publicly embarrassing him. If you want him gone then make that clear when he can actually go. Now we have a player in the dressing room for half a season at least who will be bringing down the spirit of this squad even more than it already is.
What makes you think Sancho wasn't already stinking up the place? From my (non-football) managerial experience these lazy, victim-complex types are usually trouble. This is out of character for ETH so what gives? And for Sancho to release a statement so quickly, and Rashford to publicly like it, suggests to me that something rotten has been brewing. Our performances seem to reflect that anyway. And I'd gladly back ETH over our rotten primadonnas.

Oh, it was a year. Who cares.

I still stand by it.

If Sancho was performing and was any good on the right, Antony wouldn't be here.
So you stand by him having ‘2 years’ at the club before Antony under OgS who by the time he left has changed to a wingerless 3 at the back formation & Ralf who was. . . Ralf.

Sancho has been horrid mate but Antony isn’t the hill to die on in this one, interchangeably crap comes to mind with them both yet Antony has certainly been given more rope.

This is important. Makes you wonder if people actually watch football properly, or they go to sleep when we're out of possession. There was a moment in that second half when AWB was dragged out of position and Antony tracked Martinelli until our goal and basically made a goal saving challenge.

Basically their arguments are a player who's not that good at scoring or assisting but works his socks off or a player who is pretty much not good at anything. Antony over Sancho any day of the week. I'm actually a fan of Sancho and I believe he has immense ability and potential but he hasn't shown it consistently enough for it to be worth it for us to play him in a big game and take all of his negative defensive effort with it...

This is not good. He is directly defying the manager. We know from Sir Alex, nobody can be allowed to do that. Not even Beckham at the top of his form, let alone Sancho who wasn't necessarily impressing.

This is also extremely messed up from Sancho, considering EtH treated him with kid gloves last year and allowed him unprecedented 3 months of mental break or whatever. This is starting to resemble Dele Alli meltdown territory. Would suck this to be the end of Sancho, but looks like it may be.

I don't take anyone side on this, but I find it hilarious that ten Hag chastised Sancho for not applying himself to Manchester United standard after his selected players put out the most spineless performance from a United team I've ever saw post Fergie

I said 2 years, but I was wrong. He's been here 2 years and has shown nothing but the odd glimpse of what he's capable of.

ETH gave him all the time he needed to train and do whatever it was last year and he's still done nothing.

Antony hasn't pulled up any trees, but aye, I'd have Antony over him every week, I'd also play Pellestri and Amad before I'd give Sancho another minute.

This game ?

Get out of here.

This probably runs through Sancho's mind of not having enough time.. The right manager etc. Keep in mind though that even Garnacho took his spot, and Sancho has objectively been mostly shite for us. He and his mates can bitch about it all they want, if he doesn't train well much less perform on the pitch for 3 managers over 2 years then prove it at another club. None of us will miss him.

I think ETH would replace Antony if he had a viable alternative. He played Bruno RW a few times last season

Also when hes talking about standards hes also including application and effort which Antony never lacks and Sancho last season nearly always did

 what?

Can this club get any deeper in the mud. Sadly I think some of the players are struggling with the managers ways and I dont think its only Sancho irrespective of whether he is shit or not. The vibe on the pitch doesnt look right.

Not quite 'not playing for the manager' but I do think there is division in the camp...
It is rinse and repeat. Players morale go down and things crumble and manager gets the sack. Then we start again with new false hope.

Yet another reminder of how bad our player recruitment was under Woodward. We renewed so much shit under him too. Jones got a four year contract in 2019. Martial got a £250k a week contract at the same time. It’s laughably shit business. Most of us on this forum could do a better job than that idiot. I swear at some points he‘s a scouse agent or something. I’ve never seen so many shit decisions taken by one man and never got sacked, until he was forced to fall on the sword for the ESL debacle.

Speaks volumes that DDG and Lingard are still free agents. Two fecking internationals who played at the highest level and wanted by no-one :wenger:

Frame this paragraph and stick it in the Louvre.

A lot of people don't consciously watch football, which sounds absurd to say but it's true. It could be habitual and subconscious by nature, but observing defensive actions isn't always going to happen since it's just not exciting. It's like defending. You can miss details of defensive duels because defending in general isn't fun. More people will remember a winger dribbling or playing a through ball than one being a stellar team playing on both sides of the field. More people will remember defenders making impressive switches and passes through lines than observing their anticipatory skill.
