Can we get a poll on this one? I’m genuinely interested to see where the fanbase would land on this one.

Southgate is better than Ten Hag as getting punched in the stomach is better than getting punched in the face.

ETH has had a decent top flight career even if he leaves United tonight.

Southgate has literally done nothing of note domestically and with England always goes out as soon as he meets a top 5 or so team.

Gun to my head I'd choose Southgate.

Oh my g... suddenly INEOS' plan is clear. Make us desperate enough that Southgate would be accepted. Well played.

Would rather Potter over Southgate to be honest. Southgate has like a 50% loss rate as a Premier League manager.
Happy to keep Erik until someone better becomes viable.

ETH has failed. Southgate will fail. It’s an impossible choice really. Nightmare.

Why do ETH fans believe Southgate is the only other manager in the world?

Ten Hag has failed here but is still a top coach with a good record behind him, including multiple cup wins. When he leaves here he will likely go on to have a successful career.

Southgate has never done anything at this level and probably never will.

The two are miles apart.

Rather Southgate. The performances would be as bad, but at least there wouldn't be some insufferable weird cult like backing of him, and he isn't an insufferable blame shifting knob head like Ten Hag

How about neither? You can't place ETH next to an undesirable manager and then place any stock on the results of said poll.

I’d honestly rather a fan lottery of “be a manager for the week” for the rest of the season than to endure Gareth Southgate.

And that’s bearing in mind most of the fanbase is mental. And it’s possibly the worst idea ever. And it STILL is preferable to Gareth.

Honestly I’d take Southgate on an interim basis with both parties knowing it’s until a full time manager is hired, he’d be better than what we have now.

We need to decide our style of play. ETH seems keen on this vertical Tikatak where everyone plays a long way up the pitch. So buying Ugarte and de Ligt both seem like bad ideas since neither seem very quick or pass well. The disconnect seems to be between players and playing style and it might just be ETH's ideas will never work in the EPL because it's too fast and too well organised to be vulnerable to his desired pattern of play.

Southgate's boring reductionist football would never see us make top four either. We are going to end up trying to copy Arsenal with a conservative high press.

Having watched England under Southgate and United under ETH, I really don’t think there is much difference between them. Southgate is probably the more tactically astute and a better judge of players but neither is anywhere near the level I want at United. Both of them look incapable of changing a game in match to turn around a match which is going badly.

Ten Hag.

Because if we're going to have a manager who obviously isn't good enough, we might as well save on hiring/firing costs.

Southgate changed the England national team culture from direr straits than where United find themselves now. He might not win you the league but he sure as feck won’t be losing back to back home games 3-0 and will leave the club in a better place for a manager who might win you the league on his foundations.

That does not rule out Southgate being a contender. It says he has not yet heard that he is.
He said he wasn't a contender over the summer when every man and his dog we're linking us to Southgate. I think we can safely rule him out. He's a long shot.

I have absolutely no faith in ten Hag turning this around, he's out of his depth its season 3 and the best we played was in his first season. It's only deteriorated and most of the signings look like deadwood already. But I would rather keep him than Southgate, thats how low I rate Southgate.

Should be a thread

'I'd rather.........than Southgate become United manager
