Lovely.

Now let's get selling players please. And provide some sort of a positive statement on the manager.

Not really right? You need to arrive at a principled decision. Not sack before the cup final because fan sentiment wanted it and extend after fa cup win because vibes.

Do a full review and understand how much of the failure is on the manager and how much on the squad issues and injuries.

Going to be fun looking back at this decision in 4 months, when we find out we still can't properly control games, or do anything but play on the counter.
Unless we get this massive clearout that we've been hearing about for 3 years running now, I think the football will be even worse tbh

Imagine getting a shiny new contract for finishing 8th with Manchester United! Mind bending. If you'd said that 20 years ago...

Wonder how much it'll cost us to pay him off in a few months when he continues to be rubbish.
Not any 8th place finish either, horrible GD too.
Oh well, hoping for the best I guess

Not convinced it’ll work out after the clusterfeck of last season, but we know what’s what now and can focus on next season

Welcome to Manchester, Brian Brobbey

fecking cowardly decision and talks of a new contract to boot, why reward failure? Why make it more expensive to sack him if he wets the bed again. Should have sacked him and brought in Tuchel as a transitional manager until we are more settled and then move on to the one we actually want. Ten steps backwards this.

If we are still getting battered in league game to league game in the first 5-10 games, he will be under serious pressure.

Huge gamble from INEOS. Think they’ve fecked it by not sacking and rewarding gross negligence but hopefully ETH proves us wrong.
There were no real options to replace him. If we sacked him who were we getting in? Talks with Tuchel hit an impasse so it was only Poch, Frank and De Zerbi.

Now that we can draw a line under all the speculation, let’s talk likely outcomes. Which trophy will Erik win this year?

No way ETH can be allowed to go into the season without a contract extension. It has nothing to do with rewarding him for finishing 8th.

Yes, let's always remain in transition. That would be good, worked thus far.

You can’t have a manager in his final year. It completely undermines their position. We spoke to Tuchel and got no where.

So there you go.

Probably the best decision. Although, should have been made Monday after the FA Cup final to stop all this bollocks.

Chances are he'll be sacked in October and we go on the merry-go-round again.

Nothing better on the market so sticking is the right thing to do. Especially after the cup win.

That said, he gets 10 games into the new season to turn it around.

I am guessing the new Contract will be to remove his transfer signing veto.

The only decent manager that could've replaced him had a chat with Brexit Jim and then said he was going to take a year off from coaching.

All the people having a moan about this just want him sacked and don't care about whom would be the next manager. They just want to bitch.

Content with the decision that’s been made. It’s become ever apparent over the past few weeks that keeping him was the sensible option when we didn’t have a particular desire for a particular alternative coach.

Now we can move on from this saga and focus on getting the summer transfer window right.

Think it was a gamble either way and clearly other candidates did not inspire confidence.

Top 4 next season, attractive football with a clearer identity and the ability to dominate games needs to be the expectation including an improved performance and results against the top 8, especially away from home.

Why extend the contract?

It just means having to pay out a lot more if by December things don't improve and they decide to sack him.

Surely you would wait and see how the seaosn progresses, THEN offer a contract?
Because they are quite obviously backing him long term

Ultimately I think this is the result of Ineos not having the confidence to make such a big decision without the new recruitment team in place. He'll be under huge pressure as soon as Berrada and Ashworth get here.
