Erik ten Hag | Currently unemployed

3rd time in a row Ajax is eliminated in Europe by an inferior defensive team. No adaptability and no plan B.

I like Ten Hag's style of play, but like Van Gaal he will try to play a possession game without having the players to do it which will turn out the way United played under Van Gaal. It's the Dutch disease. There is only 1 proper way to play the game.

I think the term is pointless, but does he classify as a bottler?

I mean, he was knocked out by Tottenham (throwing away a great position), who was managed by a 'so-called' bottler in Pochettino. And now, they fail to knock out Benfica. It seems the bottler levels are on the rise.

He is managing a team who probably have less of a budget than 80% of the premier league. The fact he has consistently gotten them as far as he has in Champions League is fecking miraculous.

Try and wrap this up ASAP now he's out of Europe, the only thing more depressing than our season ending in March is having Poch announced next month.

Seriously? It would be a coup to get Poch, or Ten Hag, like turning your nose up at a Bentley when you could have got a Porsche when you drive a Ford Fiesta.

No he wouldn't. He's not actually from Ajax. He was an outsider for them too.

Think the league is still a bit tight. Hes not exactly walking it.

yes this is true. 3 weeks is definitely premature, Ajax are Up 2 points with 8 games left. No more distractions of the CL, PSV has a conference league game this week.
But i can’t be bothered by that, get a deal in place and he can go ahead and focus on the league in the interim.

He saw Pochettino making an aggressive play at the United job by going out with PSG and is now trying to get in on it too.

Ohhh here they come ETH fans watching the Dutch league week in week out...give it a rest

Watched 90 mins tops
My comment was aimed at tonights match. If you would have watched you wouldn't be posting snarky remarks

Aargh that old chestnut “hipsters choice”. The same was probably said about most other managers who ended up being successful.

I'm pretty sure most current top managers were at some point described as the hipster choice here. Pep, Klopp, Tuchel, Nagelsmann, etc.

In this context "hipster manager" means "manager I didn't know about until other people started talking about them".

Here we go, the excuses to keep the status quo come rolling in.

Hipsters choice. Truth is 99% of the people wanting ETH haven’t watched more than 5 games at Ajax and even that’s being generous.

ajax were really really good tonight, just wasn’t their night.

16 shots to benficas 4. 70% possession.

really unlucky

Ten Hag = Pep Guardiola is my idol
Poch = tubby fraud
Who’s left?

Not sure about that. He’s been constantly knocked out by teams on similar budgets to his in the last 3 seasons. Twice out of the group stage and getting KO of EL by Getafe(who the deck loses to Getafe) and Roma (7th of Serie A). Again this season Ajax was clear favourite against Benfica and they bottled it.

Yes because even the GOAT SAF hadn't had his fair share of embarrassing defeats in Europe. Oh and when was the last time Pep won a CL? It's a cup competition ffs, not always does the best team win. Ajax were clearly much better than Benfica, they were just unlucky.

Is he a bottler now? Quite sure Poch was called one from equally frivolous measures.
Poch With a miles better team, and being ahead on the first leg and halve time in the second leg… not quite sure it’s the same.

The more I see this phrase, the more I am convinced that people don't understand what it means.

They played well tonight, as has been outlined above, most of the ball, lions share of the chances. If the players haven't converted then so be it but it can not be said that the managers system and tactics did not put them in the best position to perform.
