Erik ten Hag | Currently unemployed

Moyes was the true pioneer in that regard. Showing Rio videos of the legend that is Phil Jagielka. If only Rio was open to improving everyday!

That didnt actually happen, according to Rio himself.

I read somewhere that Ralf's role is essentially part time, only working 6 days a month. If true how could he possibly hope to establish a productive working relationship with him?
Ten Hag might want rangnick to have a more productive role.

The Rangnick bit is the most promising. Whatever you think of the guy, he's seen the dross we have up close and personal and hopefully we won't have to see too much of this dumb second chance, every player gets to try again with the new teacher.

It's also some much deserved karma for these clowns undermining Rangnick for months on end.

Yep.
Telling ETH who the underperformers and bad influences are would help him immensely.

I've said all along, Rangnick is key in making ten Hag a success as manager.

I've always thought it showed just how thick our players are that they have so willingly thrown someone under the bus that they know will continue to have an influence at the club after the season comes to a close.

Either that, or it's a way to get their move out of the club.

Maybe many think they are just indispensable or at least difficult to shift.

That to me this mentality is problematic and one of the reasons why United have failed in the last 10 years. The club has done what you are describing, every manager has done a clear out without much difference and that's because we have followed the logic that you are following which is to not expect or demand any sort of teaching competence from the new teacher, he can just buy new pupils.

For me the point of Rangnick is mainly to avoid that nonsense and help the new head coach understand what makes our current player tick, what are their strength and weaknesses. Then the head coach will have the ability to adapt his teaching methods, try to fix specific issues and in hopefully few cases determine that he isn't the right person to fix something and sell a player.

But we need to expect coaching and man-management from the members of our staff, their job isn't to just put names on a teamsheet.

I think Ralf saying he has no involvement in the manager hunt, was purely him avoiding having to be asked about who it will be. I find it very difficult to believe that Murtough would not seek an opinion from Ralf regarding all the candidates they considered. He's technically correct if he says he's not involved in the interviewing, but I bet he's given them his opinions.

I really hope those members of the squad who might have thought they can ride out Ralf's managerial reign and start afresh with the new manager will get a nasty shock when it becomes clear Ralf's main mission for 6 months was him marking the cards of every single member of the squad who isn't up to the task to save the new manager the hassle of having to waste any time trying to work with them in pre-season. If you think about it, there's really not going to be time to let Ten Hag see if the current squad can play his style of football before deciding who needs ot be moved on. Ragnick tried and failed to get these players to press for more than 5 minutes. He's hinted at their refusal to follow instructions numerous times.

I've another theory as well. There's been a lot of talk about why he keeps playing certain players despite them likely leaving or not being good enough. I think the plan is to be able to say - you're leaving the club and don't go crying that you weren't given the chance to prove yourself - you were.

WhatsApp is a thing in 2022.

Dunni bout key, but he gives a much better chance of success. Key suggests without Rangnick, ETH cannot be a success which isn't strictly true.

It’s happening this week isn’t it! Like the sound of ten Hag saying he believes he can bring the sleeping giant back to life../ if it’s true. Wanna start enjoying our games again. Want to have end to end games against the likes of city and being able to match the best teams in Europe. We need that back! It will take time but with ten hag and rangnick it’s a strong possibility! Roll on next season. #GGMU

Not until knvb final as Orny reported.

I believe the written offer is verbally agreed by ETH.

I hope this is happening, but I cannot see it happening until Ajax secure the league. I think it is only right and proper.

Reads like a journalist who doesn't know what Rangnick's role is talking shit. ETH isn't going to strike up an Overmars-like relationship with Rangnick because Rangnick isn't our DOF.

If he does come over here and is a great success we should be thankful of poch and spurs for preventing him in that ucl campaign as him getting to the final and winning it would have insured that he would end up elsewhere (barca , Madrid , bayern etc etc)

Neville is a cnut but to be fair where's the lie there? Players and managers should think twice about signing for Manchester United these days.

It is taken out of context, Neville was absolutely spot on, I suggest you people to listen the full interview.

While he is undoubtedly correct, I don't think he needs to paint that bleak a picture considering people seem to take his word so seriously. The flip side is that anyone who can take us back to the top or even thereabouts, will have achieved a lot of greatness (being the person who did what Jose, LVG etc could not) and United are making significant changes behind the scenes, whether they work out or not. If you can somehow make it at United, it can go from one of the hardest big jobs around, to one of the best.

Neville only told Ten Hag something in the sense that he said something out loud when asked. He didn't get on the blower. They weren't discussing United over a beer.

And, more to the point, who wouldn't call it a risky decision based on the situation the next manager will inherit?

I hope this isn’t true:

It’s ok, he loves the club and all that nonsense. It’s weird how he’s saying this now yet never calls for a manager to go when it’s clearly not working until it’s stupidly too late and completely stomps managers reputation into the dust.
All of those manager wouldn’t look as bad if they left when it was clear it wasn’t working anymore

Neville is right (if you read the article), but his comments won't be helping our cause at all.
It’s not really his job to help our cause, through, is it? He might be a fan but cheerleading doesn’t achieve much beyond eroding his credibility. On paper, far more qualified managers than ETH have wilted at United.
