Erik ten Hag | Currently unemployed

Yeah there is no doubt he needs a certain management structure in place to succeed much more than Pochettino

This is slightly why I’m beginning to lean more towards Pochettino than Ten Hag now

I’d love us to bring in VDS & Overmars with Ten Hag but pretty safe to say there is no way the Glazers will sanction moves for either of those two.

Yeah never gonna happen because we don't think about that stuff like City

but if we appoint the wrong man now it's another 2/3 years of waste, and another 2/300m spent

and who knows if we appoint the right man after that either

personally, if it means getting the best candidate I don't mind waiting
Same here, less haste less waste

take our time, proper interviews and give it to the best possible that we can get

there is of course risk with any new man but I’d rather we don’t just give it to friends, or people fergie knows, or people we’ve talked to before. Let’s do it right.

Alright boys, Ajax is playing Besiktas right now. They are without some of their key men(Blind and Haller), are a goal down and Besiktas is hitting them on the counter, but so far it's really nice to look at what a well organized team looks like.

I've also noticed the individual quality difference between the Ajax players and our own. Just imagining what he can do with our squad

That Besiktas forward though. Fecking hell he missed 2 clear chances one of them being a sitter. Those Ajax kits look mint though with the rasta colors.

What are Ajax fans views on this? Easy for us to think he needs the structure to be successful. But maybe that’s just us guessing. I’d love to get a closer perspective of someone who knows him better. I’m sure he’ll probably take more time to teach his ways because his tactics are more intricate than Poch. But he seems similar to Pep and most people agree that were he to be our manager we’d probably be challenging, so…

Timber, Antony, Alvarez as well.

I’m impressed by the amount of players Ajax commit to attack. Everytime they attack there are around 6 players in the opposition box.
I like David Neres. 17/18 season he had 14 goals and 11 assists and I thought he would improve by the years but he hasn't really been close to those numbers. Every time he gets the ball it feels like something can happen but he's just not crucial enough inside the box.

I think it's a lazy excuse, he became sporting/technical director and head coach at Utrecht which earned him his move to Ajax. At Ajax there is fantastic structure behind him.

But his coaching is just very very good, we don't need a new structure to get more out of fantastic players like Bruno, Pogba, Rashford, Sancho, Greenwood, Ronaldo.

One of his former teammates and good friends is a journo and basically confirmed he ain't leaving mid season.

If I were Newcastle I'd do a full transplant of VdS, Oversnickers and ETH and give them carte blanche. We'd obviously never do it.

Without some of their key men is an understatement. It's a B team with 7 changes.

I don't understand the excuse either. The only structure he has to work with is the current players we have and any future recruitment. These group of players right now should be good enough for his system.

Reminiscing of the old Fergie days. I still remember before a cross into the box we would always have 5-6 players waiting to pounce.

@AjaxCunian Thank you for sharing the view, but think its time we take out Pogba from that fantastic players, we have been trying find that elusive "player" who is going to unlock his potential and now it gets to that manager. This is in my humble opinion

Yeah I tend to agree. I’ve been kind of following this line about structure but I don’t see it myself. Our managers manage in spite of our structure not because of it. Surely so long as our manager knows how to coach and manage the man management of the players, the structure is just a bonus? If he can have a say in who he brings in, that’s important. If he can have a say in how our academy functions, that’s important. But that’s exactly what Ole got. So I don’t see it changing. We may not be the shrewdest operators, but we’re not like PSG where players are forced onto managers and owners and presidents pick the team. Our manager still gets a lot of control. And generally they’re funded. Surely that’s all Ten Hag needs to be a success here. And I don’t see him having major problems with egos either.

It's mostly because of competition and injuries that he didn't play more and develop more. First Ziyech started playing in his spot and now Antony. But Ajax are lucky to have a player like him on the bench. Very skilful and unpredictable player. Probably leaving in the summer, only a year left on his contract then.

Tagliafico is similar, lost his starting place but is still a good leftback. That's the difference between this Ajax and that of a few years ago, more squad depth.

They haven't been at their best, obviously resting a few players, but there's still so much to like about their tactics:

6 or 7 players joining in every attack, opposition box packed.
Stylish, fast interplay with non-stop off ball movement. Always a passing option available.
Really well drilled team press.
Even a couple of really creative set-pieces.

We are also playing with 3 original CAM's / Berghuis a RW. It is not really a balanced side today. Nowhere near Ajax' best, but still a well drilled side.

I'd like to add the 50/50. I noticed that Ajax players(and not just in this match) are very adept at winning 50/50 chances or even winning the ball back quickly after losing possesion. I wonder if it's a coaching thing. I always thought it was down to the player's mentality.

I think Pochettino is a very good manager. A worthy candidate for the job. Though I can't shake the feeling that we'll be making a mistake by not moving for ten Hag.

That's the way I look at it. Poch is good, but Ten Hag can be great. A club of United's stature shouldn't be satisfied with good.

There's a clip on YouTube that you may find interesting. The channel is United View and the guest discussing Ten Haag is wetalk Ajax. It's an opinion from an Ajax fan who seems pretty knowledgeable.

City will be in for him to replace Pep if we don't get there first. He's definitely the more exciting option between him and Pochettino.

Pochettino has never shown the level of capability when it comes to coaching a proactive brand of football that I'm seeing from ten Hag in the Champions League. The transitions both offensively/defensively, with the midfield forwards/backline in such symmetry is a joy to behold.

Pochettino was fortunate he ended up at Southampton, after they'd been scouting Coutinho at Espanyol and spotted a opportunity to get Pochettino. There's a number of coaches in Germany who IMO are at least on the same level as Poch or even better but have never got the opportunity at a big club.

Thanks man, yeah I watched that one. Very insightful. Love the way Flex is bringing in oppo fans to the show. Really helps give a more balanced view and makes it feel a lot more communal. Thanks for the tip.

One more thing I'd like to add is how he manages to turn around the situation in the second half.

They were a goal down against Dortmund, second half they came out a different side and didn't let up till they got the result they wanted. It was a similar story tonight.

His substitutions seem to be most on point as well.

Hopefully with Mortough having a bigger input, we might stand a bigger chance of getting him.

West Ham "flop" Haller joint topscorer with Lewandovski (9 goals).

Imagine what ETH could do with our boys

Haller is ahead on contributions as he has 2 assists to Lewandowski's 1.

He just needs a new GK and a CF and we are pretty much the perfect team for him to manage.

I was ridiculed on here for being one of the guys who thought he would be a good signing before he signed for West ham. Can't say him scoring goals is all that shocking.

If there is a chance of getting Ten Hag just go all out for that Ed before you bugger off.

Any shred of us being linked with a proper interest in this guy?

He’s the man, I can feel it in my bones I tell thee

What I'm hearing from this, is that he hasn't got a fetish for only making subs after 60 mins and annoying 85 min subs?

If you had to pick between-

1. Poch now
2. Carrick till the end of the season and Ten Hag guaranteed

-which would you choose?
