Erik ten Hag | Currently unemployed

I wish the club agreed with us but with Pochettino seemingly available we have got a dose of impatience now

I don't get the impatience, its not like pochettino can make us win the title this season. And this same board had tonnes of patience towards ole when we were getting rolled by all and sundry.

Easy for them to do it when the guy in charge was an ex Utd player though

I feel the board would need#TenHag2UTD trending to even know who he is

Over half of the CAF want that to happen too but Utd board got Woodward a hard on for Pochettino and are too bloody impatient to wait for him
It's always fecking Woodward isn't it. This man will not be content till he fecks over our club into oblivion.

Looked at the Eredivisie table; 40 goals scored and 2 conceded in 13 games. Madness.
bUt BUt buT it's the Eredevise. Every team can achieve those numbers there

It's not the impatience, it's the lack of planning. I remember during martial arts class, our teacher would always drill into us: During moments of pressure and panic your body resorts to doing what is already familiar.

It's the reason why Poch is number 1 right now. We don't have a plan. No interim and they want to salvage the season somehow. That's why they resort to the already familiar candidate: i.e. Poch. And by they I mean fecking Woodward.

Do we have any dutch here?

Does Ajax have an assistant coach who could take over his job? Or someone to continue the philosophy and not feck up the title?

I mean....they are 9 points clear at the top already. And they seem to be doing it with ease.

I do get him - he wants to finish the job and leave as a title winner, leave with a closure.

Unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of waiting, especially now that Poch came in the picture. There is still so much at stake on our side. Top 4 isn't ungettable, CL football still to play for, FA cup.... it's not like our season is done and dusted.

We will miss out if we don't get him, but i won't blame the board if they choose Poch now instead of Ten Hag next season.

Erik - come on, its your chance for a life time of worship from millions of us desperately waiting for a crack at the title.

You could be immortal.

It's about what they want too.

Poch (if the stories are true) isn't exactly in love with PSG. It's a difficult club to manage, there are reports of difficulties with Leonardo, his family are still living in the UK, etc.

Whereas Ten Hag actually enjoys being at his current club, is surrounded by people he trusts and feels some loyalty towards and is managing a team he helped build over several years. And he knows if he doesn't end up at United he will likely still get a shot at a different elite club at some point in the future. So hardly the same impetus to leave mid-season.
Damn it!

I think we're only getting him if we wait until next summer

I'd be happy to do that but expect the club won't and will go for Poch

Sadly it's about the CL. He wants another shot at it. Would be ironic if he face off against Poch's PSG though

And i wouldn't blame them.

We need someone now.
We can't afford to keep Carrick till the end of the season.

We need a manager. A real one.

but if we appoint the wrong man now it's another 2/3 years of waste, and another 2/300m spent

and who knows if we appoint the right man after that either

personally, if it means getting the best candidate I don't mind waiting

Why do I get the feeling we are destined to meet him in next round IF we manage to get out of this group. They knock us out with Pochettino in charge and we will say should have waited, however if it somehow went the other way we will say the decision was right.

Except nobody here owns a crystal ball and knows for a fact who that mystery "right" man is.

Yes, it could be Ten Hag. Looks the part.
It could be Poch. Certainly isn't a bad manager and has his positives in knowing the PL.
For all we know, it could be Potter.

What we do know, its not Carrick.
So, we need someone now. Asap.

We still need to salvage something from this season, i don't want it to go waste just yet.
We've done that far too easily last couple of years to be honest.

If deciding the manager was the right appointment was really based on this scenario then there is something seriously wrong.

I don’t watch much football outside of United these days so I’ll admit I know very little about Ten Hag, other than being talked up as the second coming. Just feels like a massive bandwagon to me. Not saying he isn’t the real deal, he may well be and I wouldn’t mind if the club took that punt on him but he’s just as risky as Poch or even Rodgers. Certainly not a banker, nobody is really.

Well, that's some belief in himself and the team.

Do they really have a better team now then they did 3 years ago with DVB, de Jong, Ziyech, De Ligt....?
Isn't that exactly the man we want at United then? The man who believes that his team can go all the way? This what we're missing out on.

If he becomes United manager, I'll change my name to Bobby. I'm quite taken by my own name, so this is a pretty safe bet.

Do we have the players here at the moment that would buy into his brand of football? From what people are telling me VDB and Sancho would be very nice fits but Bruno, AWB, McFred, DDG, Ronaldo?

The transition from SAF/Moyes to LVG to Jose was not ideal in terms of managers inheriting players suited to a brand of football.

Yeah no one knows the future

But we do know who our first choice is

So I’d be happy if the club wanted to wait until next summer to get whoever that is and appoint an interim manager in the meantime than get the 2nd/3rd/4th choice now

Think the interim is only a realistic possibility IF we fail to land Pochettino in the French league winter break

I for one wouldn't.

I want a manager now.

Seeing Carrick until the end of the season would be so uninspiring.
I don't want an interim, i want a proper manager.

Just show him briefcase full of cash, force him to make a deal with the devil!

I don't think system managers , unflexible work in man united

Well, that's a bit concerning. Throwing players under the bus in the media is very Mourinho-esque.
Mourinho was throwing players under the bus after losing games, whilst ten Hag is doing it after winning games 5-0.

Carrick is caretaker manager, if we’re waiting for next summer we’d appoint an interim instead

Though, I doubt this is going to happen anyway but yeah Carrick until the end of the season would be a disaster

He's the one I would pick if we could get him now, but I don't know why people take it for granted that he'd be a success here. There's still a big question mark about him. He has never managed or even played for a big club, or anyone outside of the Netherlands except for a brief stint coaching the Bayern reserve team. He has done very well at Ajax, but it's also well-known how carefully structured their entire club system is and how much of the work has been done by VDS and Overmars. Quite frankly, we have no evidence from which to predict that he'd do well in a different and vastly tougher league, in a club where things are a bit chaotic, and without an entire club hierarchy collectively in tune with a long-term plan that everybody has a well-defined role in. There's every chance he wouldn't do well at United, and while I would give him the chance, it's a big gamble.

While it's obviously not necessary that a manager has played at a big club in one of Europe's top leagues, those who have done so will at least be familiar with what it's like at such clubs. When hiring someone who has never set foot in a top-tier club (which United still are, in terms of size, legacy, finances and media scrutiny), it's always a gamble. We see plenty of players who are immensely talented but just don't fit in at a megaclub, and managers are frankly no different. Some only excel in the kind of environment that you'll find in a smaller league and a club that operates closer to the ground. Perhaps he would prove to be the real deal if he came here, but those who say that we're missing out on the next big manager are saying so on a basis of nothing whatsoever. Countless managers have impressed at the helm of some smaller league's #1 club only to fall short when a big club gave them the chance.

His Ajax side has done very well in the CL, but they haven't performed miracles. People tend to overstate his accomplishments. He hasn't achieved so much that there's any reason to feel certain that he's ready for what may well be the toughest manager position in the sporting world. I'd still take him, but there's no basis for saying that we're missing out on the next great manager if we don't. That's a very big Maybe. Until we've actually see how he does in a highly competitive league with a squad of superstars and constant pressure from media and fans, we can only speculate that he might have what it takes. He's more of a gamble than Pochettino in that regard.

United will 100% regret not getting this guy even if it means waiting. I think he would still come to united even if they don’t make top 4 which is looking more and more likely. Possession based like Pep and attacking football like Klopp at times. He is the last person I want to see at united. I hope your board gets all panicky and hires either Poch or Rodgers one of which will just end up costing you years.

Our board probably have this belief that he could still become a Utd manager in the future, however will admit I don't share that confidence.

I have a feeling that the Glazers or Woodward don't really know who Ten Hag is because they don't watch football that much.

They know Pochettino from his time at Spurs, Rodgers from his time at Liverpool/Leicester and Zidane from his hattrick CL wins at Real Madrid.

Yea well hearing pundits like Carra and the rest sprouting crap about the board not being prepared in case Ole got fired to me is a smokescreen. No one who doesn’t want united back at the top wants this guy anywhere near Old Trafford. No one is worried about Poch or Rodgers or Zidane for that matter. Conte maybe but that’s done. This guy is different though. Trust me the footballing world outside of united would love to see the board being pressured into anyone else but Hag
