Only thing I didn’t understand was bringing Maguire on for Martinez so late in the game, funny call for me that one.
He will need to sort out Midfield issues or else the midfield will throw him under the bus really.

We will break the 44 goals conceded barrier ( our second worst in the Premier League history) this season but we should be below the 56 record of last season.

I think if that would work it should be our first try. But, I honestly believe the Premier League care about the product, and United struggling and falling back into a top 4 race is far better for them, and that will be how they instruct referees. I wish I didn't believe that, but even when United aren't involved it feels like that to me.
Whereas, putting that number out there in the public space will force some kind of action. In the end, this is an entertainment product and therefore that's the strategy we sadly have ot use.

I just think that refs are mentally weak and know a decision against united isn't going to cause the shit storm a decision for United will cause. So you get a casemiro red and no penalty, instead of a casemiro yellow and United penalty which would be main sports news for days
Why would this be beneath us? SAF used to whine a lot about referees and their decisions. And you know what? No referee would do this blatant shit against us because he knew he'd get called out immediately. Look at Klopp - he does the same fecking crap and Liverpool always gets away with the most ridiculous things you could think of. Look were our timidness has gotten us. I totally agree. I tried and failed to start a thread about what we should be doing to get the rub of the green, not sure why. It should be as much a strategy as any other part of the sport. It sucks that it has to come to this, but these last few months have been staggering in terms of 50/50 going against us.

Just as well the teams immediately below us don't seem to be consistent enough for Utd to drop out of the top 4, the team is playing without a bona-fide striker and now missing two influential midfield players in Casemiro and Eriksen, also the team looks like it is running on empty, roll on the summer and hopefully Ten Hag is given whatever is necessary to strengthen.
I know it's not easy to play with 10 men for so long but I don't understand the way we came out for second half having dominated them at the end of the first half. We basically gave them the ball and refused to press or even attempt to win the ball back. That's unacceptable at Old Trafford. Can't use a single point from this type of game and Southampton were there for the taking.

I will criticize him for keeping on Sancho far too long, and not bringing on Fred. I thought our team was crying out for Fred in that second half.
Playing Bruno in CM was asking for trouble. Can only assume Fred wasn't fully fit.
Hopefully this pulls the team even more together. It was only a point but the manager and players did well to get that. I’ll be absolutely delighted and super happy if he wins us a second trophy this season
Might just be a weird feeling based on nothing, but I feel that we look especially poor when down to ten. We were hanging on for dear life at Old Trafford against Palace recently too. I reckon there are a few other sides that would have continued to dominate against the likes of Southampton and gone on to pick up the three points.
It was clear they were going to devise a plan in HT to utilise their advantage better. It was logical to take the sting out of the game and not play it so open and then go for it in the last 20 minutes.
Where we struggled was that a lot of our front players had an off game. Rashford should have done better with his chances, Sancho was poor except one moment, Antony was frustrating as ever. We lack the cutting edge in most games and need a few attacks in usual games before we get the goal. With the red card so early today, it was always very likely we would not do that. We still created a few really good chances that could have ended up in the net on another day.
I think EtH thought they would bombard the penalty box with crosses late game

Lets see how the FA deal with this. Few weeks ago Arteta called it out with no punishment. I bet Ten Hag gets some kind of retaliation.
Our attackers should have done better, no dobt, but I blame EtH for the tactics. Imagine Liverpool, Arsenal og City getting the same red card in the first half at home against Southampton (like that would ever happen) and I guarantee, they would take the game by the scruff of the neck and put up a better challenge than we did. Southampton were there for the taking had we decided to press them.

Can't remember what Arteta said, but he didn't go after the ref, he just said he didn't understand why VAR didn't act.
I expected us to continue doing what we did after the sending off in the first half: attack. To me it looked like the players were told to sit back and soak up pressure after HT and I don't think that's what other top teams would do in a similar situation.
I expect us to play on the front foot, rather than just hoping to make the most of counter attacks. We just don't control games well enough. Especially so without Eriksen, but even with Eriksen. It's early days though and hopefully that will come.

I don't think we could have afforded a loss at home to a bottom side given what happened last week. I think those instructions(if true) were fair.

The one thing you need to play on the front foot with 10 is players who can take really good care of the ball. Otherwise, you will be open to a lot of counters and can be done easily. Arsenal & Man City have those players. Unfortunately, at this stage of our evolution, we don’t. Of the players that were on the pitch in the second half, I trust Varane, Martinez, Shaw, Antony and maybe Rashford to not lose it in dangerous areas. Bruno, Sancho (has the technique but it so weak), AWB, McT, DDG is just one too many to play like this when you have a man disadvantage. On the bench, we had Fred who also is so erratic. If we had a De Jong and a competent RB we could have probably thought about it.
