In Fergie's own words at a racing meet here in Ireland last summer. He said we needed someone to come in and take control of the club. Well just look at the results of that. All his big decisions have been great. A proper disciplinarian. Give him control of transfer. No problem. Signs superb players who work in his system. The real deal. Thank feck.

Nonsense.

Alison actually worse playing out from the back these days, literally kicked in a goal the other night that started the collapse.

Elerson literally giving goals away too on the press.

The sweep keeper aspect to be honest is prob the most overrated aspect of keeping at the moment. We seem to be doing ok with a "dinosaur" in the nets. From 3rd game in of the season we won more games and points than any other team.

For whatever he lacking in that regard, which I don't think is that bad, he making up for it with the shot stopping in a big way.
It’s not overrated, every manager in the ilk of ETH prioritises a keeper like that, it’s a necessity, just look at even the collective improvement of arsenal once they replaced Leno with ramsdale

Curious how people think Poch would have done in these 8 months in comparison had we not taken ETH

There are alot of people here who wanted Poch and Conte.

When you actually step back and think about it, its an amazing job that Ten Hag has done, think about where we were, how many managers have tried.

Any other manager, we would be 5th and been relatively happy with it but what Ten Hag is doing is special. I am so glad we have him as manager.

If we were scouse, we’d have definitely written some long as feck poetry about him and a couple of weird culty photoshop jobs after last night.

Is aim now is to try and get better performances for 60/70 minutes and then eventually for the full 90.

The best thing he's managed to do is make this team lovable again.

For a long time, we had players who were half invested, with questionable mindsets, getting away with mediocre performances. Our away fans singing: you're not fir to wear the shirt.

He's come in, brought in winners with elite mentalities, and laid down the law. Anyone who is half arsed can feck right off.

In a matter of 7 months, he's managed to undo so much of the shite we're endured for a decade now.

I was hoping we would appoint him, but i wasn't expecting such a quick turnaround. Can't wait to see how far he takes us.

I remember how Poch frowned upon League cup and the like as if he's too good to try to win that. Instead of understanding you need to create a habit of winning within the team.
ETH instilled that mentality into the team, he wants to win everything he can.

I'd already seen the other day that, compared to the rest of Europe's top 5 leagues, United

Have played more games than any other team

Have won more games than any other team

Are the only team still in 4 competitions

And I just discovered, have more goals (19) scored by substitutes

I think the CAF was quite unanimous in wanting Hag appointed. Sure there was a poll.

I can see a few negative posts but my response would be:

We are playing so many games, its almost impossible to be at it 90 mins of every game, especially when you are playing 90 mins.

Its also games that matter, every game for us is a must win, a final after Barca followed by FA cup and Liverpool. Big games keep coming, for me its all about results at the moment.

I have enough faith in Ten Hag to improve our play come next season when he has more of his players and another pre season.

First real test against Newcastle. Even if he passes that, his actual real test will be making Maguire play like Varane.

I literally can see no justification whatsoever for anyone to have anything negative to say about ETH so far - given the state of the club from top-to-bottom just 6 months ago. Everyone is entitled to an opinion obvs, but reasonable opinions are generally built on evidence. Could anybody genuinely have expected more of any manager at this stage of the season? Anyone that says otherwise must be an oppo fan in disguise.

EDIT - that's not to say that he is above criticism and can never make mistakes - he is a human - I'm talking the big picture.

Another lacklustre first half and comeback in the second.

Under other managers this was said to be unsustainable.
There was a talk about some shocking takes from first few weeks of his tenure, but as I see there are some really bad takes even now, in February, this being a prime example.

I think we'd have been in a dogfight for fourth with the odd decent performance. There's no way Poch could've completely changed the character of the team the way ETH has, it's been a total revolution.

I was of the opinion that we should've gone for Conte at the time we got Ralph in. Thank the lord we didn't.

There were definitely a few Ole fans who were very quick to pass judgement on him in the beginning. After 3 years of 'he deserves more time to turn things around' as well :wenger:

A big thing is personalities.

Last season it would have been Lindelof and Maguire at the back, Mctomminay for Casemiro. Plus a moody Ronaldo up top. That whole spine has changed into winners.

(Not that Ronaldo isn't a winner, just he wasn't the right person to carry a team of wet blankets).

We are looking to be a very good team. I think as long as ETH is around, we will be in top 4 for the next few season. He wants option on the bench and he has quite a few now with Sancho, Garnacho, Antony. He can move Bruno anywhere, he can play WW as a striker or a no.10. He can move Rashford from left to central. He decided to put Shaw and CB. What he has done is amazing. With a few more quality buy, we will be one of favourites for the EPL and Champion league next season. All I can say is "wow".
I don't see how you can predict this, especially since we did not play well for periods of this game. Unless these buys are Mbappe, Modric, Haaland etc. City splash the cash every season and struggled this season. Chelsea too.
