Yup.
When you really contextualise the job he's doing; you see that the man is basically performing miracles. He walked into a club with some talented players, but one that was at rock bottom. Last season was absolute nightmare fuel.
It is a long time since we have had a manager with as much passion for United.
And despite my early doubts, EtH is most certainly an elite coach.
Astute, knowledgeable with a relentless drive for improvement.
Of course he is different from the great Sir Alex. No one can compare.
But he has some similar characteristics and the players obviously react well to his methods.

He's a cnut until we beat them in the 2nd leg.
What a great game yesterday, took me back to the old days and sort of reminded me of the great away games we played against Internationale and Juventus in our treble winning year, that fight in those matches I will never forget.
It is really impressive how well Ten Hag performs against the top teams in his first year with a lot of players that were really shit last couple of seasons. He is so good in his man management and his tactical ideas he wants to impose on the team.

Since Fergie, we haven't had a manager who has got us to the level where we can go to places like the camp nou and compete, while attacking and not hang on waiting to concede.
He's doing an amazing job. I hope we can cap this season off with the trophies that will reflect this progress.

I love how focused he is on each match. He said the team will be travelling home straight away so they can get recovery and focus on the Leicester game. What a man!
I get why you say this since Weghorst is not scoring but Rashford on the other hand is an attacker and displaying ridiculous form. I would think the attack functions pretty well at this moment.
We are vulnerable, that's the main issue. It all depends to much on one man

a functioning attack for me doesn't rely on one player, and if Rashford gets injured we're fecked
whereas in defence, we seem capable of losing a player or two and still performing at a good level.. because the structure is good
Absolutely, we can moan about Glazers and the like all we want but one of the big reasons we've struggled so much over the last 10 years is appointing reactive (albeit decent) managers when the game has demanded proactive, attacking coaches, especially in the PL. We've been waiting for someone like ten Hag since Sir Alex retired.

It's why it baffles and angers me when people on here have a go at him after a game if we've dropped points or even just not played great.
Have they forgotten how fecking depressing last season was? It was a complete and utter shambles, awful results, even worse performances, I started to hate virtually the entire squad. We looked finished. The season was basically over by early March.
He's doing a ridiculously good job, he's basically had one proper transfer window, with another window being reduced to trying to find players on the ultra cheap, and look at the difference in us.
A lot of people were far too quick to pass judgement on Ten Hag and Martinez. Going to end up looking very foolishYeah

Cracking manager. Doesn't indulge in drama but can handle it with authority and professionalism when required. You can tell he just wants to focus on the football, the player development, the tactics and ultimately building something great in the long term. Considering all the shit he's had to deal with I don't think anyone could expect more from him
Aye, the nit-picking is absolutely infuriating.
I mean, look at some of our play last night; it's honestly like watching a different sport than the one we played last season. ETH has come into an absolute mess, and to have made such huge progress in such a short space of time, is absolutely phenomenal.
I have a feeling that under ETH we will be a bigger force in Europe than we ever was under SAF!

We were one of the very best in Europe for many, many years. Ultimately we just didn't quite do enough to win as much as we should have. A few dodgy ref decisions and one of the all time great teams got in our way. If Ten Hag gets us back to that level I'll be thrilled. Think he's capable tbh
We were definitely up there among the best, however we struggle to dominate games or we always have problem with spanish teams for example.
Just imagine that the goal at the end of the road is a football side able to take the game to any opponent on any pitch. We will measure ourselves up to our own ability to go with Plan A not only when we can, but at all times. Keep the performance at Camp Nou in mind the next time we go through a rough patch of form, and remember that, this time around, there's a bigger picture to focus on and hope for.
There's obviously still room for improvement but what he has accomplished so far is incredible really. It just goes to show how important it is to get the right manager with a clear vision for modern football and man managing skills to support that. It's also quite damning for our previous managers who - for the post part - had us playing like shite while insisting they needed half a decade to make us competitive again.
As previously stated, ETH is doing some excellent work... making players better, a tactical awareness which is changing and many times, positively effecting games.. his work with Werghost is a great example of how to get a limited player, assess his role, and see how it has improved his game and the wider team.
It's really good to see the impact of good management, and a good coaching staff, and I again, commend him for bringing in McClaren, because despite his record as a manager, McClaren is a proper Man United fella' and he is all about players having a good attitude, and that, for me, personal view here, is what is so important, because it is what we lacked. And I actually think the players now want to play within such an environment, a better, more professional, focused attitude. Playing these games mean something now, and I love that.

Most people didn't even think we'd get top 4 this season (not saying it's nailed on but it would be very surprising if we bottled it given how we're looking at the moment). He's made us a force to be reckoned with already. Sensational turnaround, especially given our start to the season. So happy we got him.
I’m really looking forward to the game at Anfield now. I can’t see us cowering to the crowd or sitting back hoping for a break away.
Getting the right players in is the managers main accomplishment.
I was thinking about this last night, if we made a top 5 list of of United’s best post SAF signings. Most would be his, and/or players written off who he’s gotten the best out of.
Best post SAF in no particular order:
Casemiro
Martinez
Fernandes
Varane (ETH got the best out of him)
Shaw (ETH got the best out of him)
In 10 years and over £1b and god knows how many signings it’s pretty remarkable. Also I think Malacia is already up there and will become very good, also Antony could surprise with a blow up like Rashford.
That’s the thing, only 2 Ten Hag signings started last night (don’t really include Weghorst) and one was Malacia who wouldn’t play if Shaw wasn’t moved inside .He’s got the entire squad humming
Weghorst is as limited as anything and yet Ten Hag found a way to make him impactful. Guess what would happen to him under Ralf, Ole, Jose? he'd be way worse than Fellaini in my opinion.
I disagree. While I love Martinez and Casemiro, I don't think his recruitment has been particularly good. Eriksen has been good. Jurys is still out on Antony. Malacia is ok as a backup. Weghorst doesn't do much. A mixed bag really. What's more impressive is EtH's ability to get the players at his disposal to play good football. He has improved Rashford, Shaw and to some extent AWB and yesterday, we went toe to toe with number one in La Liga with Fred and Weghorst in the team.
The signings of Martinez, Casemiro and Eriksen alone mean his recruitment has been fantastic. Antony has been good but the fee means he’s being harshly judged, Malacia was always a young lad with potential but he’s been solid, and Weghorst was never going to set the world alight. Sabitzer although a last minute emergency has looked like he’s going to be class too.

We can mix it so many ways at the moment, we are operating like a top team.
I love him, best thing to happen to us since Fergie went. Don't even feel like need to question his decisions as he knows what he is doing, why frustrating sometimes when people are nitpicking looking for issues be it subs too late, or maybe playing a player they think shouldn't start.
The subs one a weird moan, as I think we are top of table for points gained after subs, or late in games so hes been mostly spot on in that regards. Hard to argue with what he is doing. He has total confidence in the team turning it around.
mixed bad- really?, the impact Martinez and Casemiro have made has been incredible, you are criminally undervaluing Eriksen's input. He has been excellent, yes he started to tire before his injury but we were overplaying him. Malacia for his 1st season has been very good as a back up. Weghorst was a last min loan signing in Jan, so unfair to use that as a stick to beat ETH with re signings. Be interesting to see Sabitzer line up with Casemiro after he misses one more game, I think this could be a very shrew pick up. Antony is a work in progress, you can see why ETH wanted him though. ETH wants to move to a more pressing, possession based team, 2 aspects Antony is good at. Out of his 5 bought signings, 2 are arguably the best in their position in the whole league in Martinez and Casemiro. If that's a mixed bag, I can't wait for the next bunch of transfers.
Erik ten Hag does not need to prove anything. He has proven with Ajax in the Champion‘s League that he is a top manager.

You must have insanely high expectations then.
Martinez, Casemiro and Eriksen have been superb. Antony gives us a shape we lack when he's not there, and at 22 has huge potential. Malacia has shown he's way better than a mere backup - just look at some of the woefully average backup full backs we've had since Fergie!
