I want to see some improvement next game: we couldn’t play the ball out from the back through the midfield and looked vulnerable when defending. Our midfield needs sorting.

All teams lose points, but it's about HOW you lose points.

Statstically we dominated
Injuries to our key players
Unfortunate with the own goal
Playing every 3 days

These things happen, and we're a pretty good football team these days!
Leeds literally caught us sleeping in 2 moments and punished us. We dominated the game in every aspect after that.

It's frustrating, but that's how it is sometimes. In other seasons we wouldn't have pulled it back from 2-0 so that is pleasing.

For the 'make a sub' people too, he got that spot on also.

You know that teams can improve over time right? Why post a dumb opinion like "EtH will never be successful" if a certain thing happens when there have been multiple mitigating conditions, and the progress has been clear to see despite that? It's just dumb.
And you can quoute when I said this? Never stated he won't be as a fact, I just said I personally would become worried that he won't be, and I really don't care what people say or if you call it dumb I think it's a valid opinion.

He definitely redeemed himself with those subs. If only one complaint, I think he should have done it sooner but the subs did in fact save us a point.

Was the right subs at the right time. Do not get me wrong, I am perhaps one of those "make a sub people" at times as he can wait an age to make them but he got it 100% spot on last night and it turned 0 points into 1, It probably should have been 3 but that is on the Players and not him really? Leeds made it difficult and that is not a bad thing, was a good game to watch.

Sunday it will be a big 3 points I am sure.

Subs were good. We were unlucky not to turn the game around sooner. In the end we rescued a point from a bad situation.

It's valid in the sense you're entitled to an opinion, it's just that everything we've seen so far under ten Hag goes against that opinion. You say above that you can see how much he's improved the team but if you actually believed that then you'd think he could be successful. Wouldn't mind but he's quite literally got a fecking cup final at the end of the month.

People seem to forget how barebones we are at the minute because we've actually handled absences very well, we've played the entire season without a striker. Now that we're missing our entire first choice midfield and half our attack, yes, we are dropping points but it would happen to any team. The most important thing to take into consideration is that we actually should've beat Palace and Leeds and were very unlucky to lose to Arsenal. If people are actually unhappy with how things are going then there's no hope.

Yes but that is the point, what I said is just an opinion and I never stated that I think it is a certain fact he won't be. Just said I don't think he'd be any huge success, he might win a title here and there but the heights of winning the PL and CL, titles we aspire to win I'm not sure. On the other hand there is a chance he might win everything no one knows but for me personally in a season like this he needs to show he is at least capable of getting CL qualification or I won't be overly impressed.

The thing is even if he didn't I will still give him some room because this squad simply isn't good enough. He has already made a very good impression on me in terms of being ruthless with certain players. He's got rid of a lot of dross and I hope next summer he will follow the same path and get rid of at least 8.

My worry is that for a manager who demands certain high standards, we have struggled in certain games to raise our standards and he has either reacted too slow or not at all.

We had games like Brentford and villa but we seem to not have learned anything

I know Bruno ended up losing the ball for their first goal but it was clear they were squeezing. That's where he should step in shout at either verane, dalot or David to go long.

And we come back in the second half and start in the same way as the first half.

His reluctance to change things early is also worrying

Will be interesting how he adapts for Sat. He made changes after the Brentford loss, although we have injuries right now

In 2020-21, Manchester United went 29 away games in the Premier League without defeat. Over 580 days. That remains the Premier League unbeaten away record to this date. During that time the club also set the record for most points collected from a losing position.

Yes we had good comebacks under Ole (fairly regularly unfortunately) how did we do last season?

I don't know the stats coming back from 2-0 down isn't that common.

Oh, give it a rest. That was the no crowds season.

16 games in the PL left, and we're averaging around 2 pts per game currently. We look on track for mid to high 70's, with low 80's a possibility if we finish really strong. If we manage to win a cup on top, it's definitely a successful start for ETH.

Most important is the difference on the pitch, the morale in the squad and the right recruitment for once. Trust the process.

Probably also set a Manchester United record for the most often we’ve ended up in a losing position…

After the 2000s, yes. The entire point of my post is that we have a recent history of coming back from being under.

I do register that the team falling behind is not put on Ten Hag, which is a refreshing change of focus.

The guy has instilled so much confidence in us, but, realistically, he's ahead of the curve. They'll be more shitty results ahead, but it is so promising.

This is such a spoilt view. Our schedule is more packed than any other team and we’re missing multiple crucial players in this current run of games. You could see the lack of depth on the bench tonight.

The players are tired and we’ve come up against one of the most energised and anti-Utd teams in the league. This can happen. We still should have even won the game so have some perspective.

I wouldn't feel so frustrated had we shown that bit of ruthlessness to get second against Palace or if the equaliser came too late to score a winner last night.

Recent-ish. It happened very rarely last season (if at all?) I presume that was what was meant by whoever sees the comeback last night as a sign of progress.

He should have brought on Jadon at half time last night, however do understand him giving the same team 10-15 mins to turn it around but they failed dismally on that and leaked second goal

Fair enough @BlueHaze . I think I quoted you as you said things have fallen his way. Maybe I misread.
Anyway, yeah, reading this thread is so weird especially those who were just waiting for us to not win our first game in a while to have a meltdown.

I type a lot of weird rubbish sometimes out of frustration after games like that but many latch onto a certain thing in some posts and make a lot more out of it than it really is. Paint the picture like one said he's a rubbish coach or something which clearly is not the case.

So far I really like a lot of things about him.

Maybe starting Weghorst last night was one of the few tactical blunders he has made recently. Rashford through the middle caused them all manner of problems. Maybe that was partly because we gained the ascendancy, and maybe Leeds backline tired allowing space, but there was such a contrast between when Weghorst was on then pitch and when he was removed. Leeds still play quite a high risk style and maybe Marcus was the better option to exploit that.

This is all hindsight though. There is also a case that Rashford is doing well on the wings so why not leave him there?

The contract was not just Weghorst though, Garnacho came off at the same time.

Malacia instead of Dalot was also probably the better option in hindsight. Mainly though we needed better performances from Fred and Bruno in the midfield and Garnacho and Wout in attack. Still managed to score two and not lose in a game where a lot of our key players were well below average so at least the bottom level has been raised.

What I've learned from this forum since last night: GifLord belongs on everyone's ignore list.

Yes, it is hindsight. But that's how football is. You make a decision and it either works or it does not, and as a manager you get judged against an outcome. The outcome seemed to be that Wout did not work at all well and Rashford was devastating through the middle. It's not totally unforeseeable. The manager has made more difficult decisions than this to combat specific opposition (Shaw v City springs to mind) so as much as you get immense credit for that, there is the possibility for critique when things don't work.

One of the most form teams about, I don't get these posts.

Since first 2 games dropping 6 points we have pretty much matched arsenal.

I think he learning ok.

Only way your point could be right in your mind is if he has a 100% win rate

ETH playing strong teams in the cup games will come back and haunt this team. Utd look shattered. Drop points on Sunday, top 4 is going to be a dog fight. Those games against Barcelona might be the final nail in the top 4 coffin.
