Bruce was pretty much a dad man walking by that point anyway. Only reason Mike Ashley hadn't sacked him was because he was a cheap bastard. They sacked Bruce within 2 weeks of the takeover

I am giving the benefit of the doubt.
He's doing a perfectly good job and you're telling us that you're giving him the benefit of the doubt. How kind.I knew it. F... Google lying like that. Anyway Shaw is quality (thanks LVG) and I really hope he is our starting LB for years to come. In all honesty the guy survived a potentially career ending injury that looked even worse than the 08 Eduardo one. Dudu was never the same player after that but Shaw recovered just fine. I guess it helps being a bit bulky sometimes. But this is a ETH thread and to top it off this is clearly the second time he is experimenting. I said he kind of has "shades" of LVG and was pretty much attacked around here (when he played both Shaw and Malacia who are both left footed and natural LBs on two back positions). Now he has put Shaw in a position where he has to play against players like Heskey. ETH obviously doesnt think height is a thing in this league but it is and sooner or later its gonna bite us in the ass.
Before I get crucified around here I do know its his first season and he is working with players he doesnt want or rate so this season I am giving the benefit of the doubt.
Yeah it says 1,85 m which is ok I guess (he is not short but not imposing either). It just rubs me the wrong way when the manager plays someone out of position rather than playing one of two actual CBs at his disposal.

Why is the tone necessary?Yes that tone is necessary and being aware isn't the same as being involved.
They aren’t doing the same job. This conversation is literally revisited every 6 monthsYou're the one bigging up Fletcher in this technical role so surely you must know what his tasks are?
You have the following as sporting directors:
Michael Edwards
Michael Zorc
Txiki Begiristain
Giuseppe Marotta
Who are vastly more experienced in their roles and you're telling me a club like United won't look for this wealth of experience in such an important role? Hence the question by many, what is Darren Fletcher's credentials in such a position at any elite club and how has he landed in such an important role at the club? What experience does he have?
This man is no less than a bloody genius
It’s time to string a series of wins, in order to show we make the real progress! Let’s say a ten-win stride in the league.
Many are cup games. We need league results and I feel we could do it.Tbf we have won 7 of our last 8 games.

That’s the only way to show we can challenge the league title next season. This season by now, the longest win stride is four wins. The loss to Aston Villa disrupted our winning run, a setback. Now, after two wins, need to give it a serious try. It’s time to show the belief, spirit and togetherness of the team.Maybe, 10 games in a row in the Premier League is a lot (our most ever is 12).
Let's hope so.

Good question remaining from at least summer 2022. The difference is we don't earn club's big money to do our job scouting, negotiating and making right decisions for everyone inside the team.Who could realistically come in next month in order to make it deadly
Very kind of you. Before I get crucified around here I do know its his first season and he is working with players he doesnt want or rate so this season I am giving the benefit of the doubt.
Why do you keep pushing this nonsense self created narrative that the first act of the owners will be to bin off the manager who is (hopefully) the best we've had since Fergie?
Very kind of you.
How many clean sheets was it again this season so far?
Yeah exactly, and that what weirds me out about that other posters comment. It basically suggests Ten Hag is being naive in his approach to his defensive setup by underestimating the importance of player height, but you'd expect that nativity to play out now more than anything. Things obviously went wrong right at the start of the season but that wasn't because of player height, and since then, it's been mostly quite good.Thats the impressive thing for me. We suddenly look like a team that can defend again and it's happened really pretty fast too.
Frankly CL qualification would be a wonderful achievement given I thought there was a betting chance of us being relegated this season, especially at the start.
Some sort of cup perhaps, but not the league. That takes time.Well I didn't. I expect utd (after spending tons each year) to at least have a fighting chance for silverware. The transition argument gets used a lot. Teams like Real or Barca or Bayern never are in transition. They always compete and that is a fact.
This window started the moment the summer window closed. Every club with a semblance of a proper structure in place has been planning for months.I still refuse to believe there's no smart deals left in this window, which didn't even started. If we could let Gakpo go to Pool, the only positive conclusion is that we have someone other in mind. This week looks all about speculations, but when actual window starts something has to happen.
Maybe, there are exceptions imo (Leicester, Montpellier, Lille, Monaco, Ipswich Town 1962, Nottingham Forest 1978, Kaiserslautern 1998, Wolfsburg 2009, Stuttgart 2005) I'm sure there are a lot more examples of teams that were never expected to win the championship that won it.Some sort of cup perhaps, but not the league. That takes time.
I honestly don’t think he’d be half as good. He would divide opinion, whereas ETH seems to lead and bring togetherCan tell he’s a top coach. He’s improved players and put a style of play in place. Wonder how poch would of got on if some fans had there way…
Didnt watch the game yesterday but I was taken aback when I saw the defence line up. We literally had one CB and three backs. I know he doesnt rate Maguire (despite obviously playing better for England than us but so does Shaw) but he also has Lindelof (who didnt play the WC and is a CB despite my low opinion about him). Having three short men at the back doesnt seem like a good idea but we were playing Forest so how did we look? Forest had a goal ruled off so we obviously were not bullet proof

Exceptions are quite different from expecting. To expect us to compete for the title this season is delusion.Maybe, there are exceptions imo (Leicester, Montpellier, Lille, Monaco, Ipswich Town 1962, Nottingham Forest 1978, Kaiserslautern 1998, Wolfsburg 2009, Stuttgart 2005) I'm sure there are a lot more examples of teams that were never expected to win the championship that won it.
Utd fans need to get rid of that small time mentality. When hundreds of millions are spend, you need to perform.
Spot on. This is why Pool getting interesting players in winter period despite lesser budget, even though signing Darwin should heavily tax them, they still looking for good occasions everytime. This window started the moment the summer window closed. Every club with a semblance of a proper structure in place has been planning for months.
We'd have been well away from the top 4 race. We've had the rub of the green with cup draws so I feel we'd be in the same position regarding the cups. Can tell he’s a top coach. He’s improved players and put a style of play in place. Wonder how poch would of got on if some fans had there way…
I read this quote on a Dutch football site, so I assume this is what he said recently.
Is it a realistic target? Sure but it comes across to me as if we should celebrate that. I remember when everybody laughed at Arsenal fans for being happy with the "4th place trophy". It seems we caught up now.
When Leicester is able to become champions and Newcastle is able to make huge progress without significant signings and Arsenal is able to go from 5th to being leader over the course of a couple of months then a utd manager shouldn't be happy with just 4th place.
