No doubt. I'd be very happy so far if I was an Arsenal supporter though. Equally, I'd be very happy if we went the same route, at least there's a clear plan.
I rate Arteta personally and I was one of those in the Arteta thread defending him when they went through the bad spell because I thought it was fairly obvious you could see what he was trying to do.

I also think it’s no coincidence either that he’s going after a lot of young players because they are a lot more receptive and mailable. He deserves credit for taking over a bad situation and really steadying the ship and taking them forward.

Although I am a fan I think he might be a bit limited as a coach though and will end up holding them back but time will tell in that regard.

It’s not too dissimilar a situation to what ETH has inherited either. His handling of the Auba situation was really good too, some parallels to Ronaldo in a way etc.

The difference is that the structure above and around him at Arsenal is drastically better than Ten Hags current situation.

Also worth mentioning because I've seen a few people say he's had a short-term impact, Arteta has been there for 2 and a half years. He shuld be having an impact after that long.

Ten Hag isn't a god and he can be blamed and criticized.
Maybe so, but criticism should be well informed and balanced, where possible supported by coherent proposals to solve the problems identified.

Without any of the above it’s just hysterical mud-flinging from behind a keyboard.

So you agree there is a budget? This was a redundant conversation then.

You cant complain you have a very limited budget when the only reason why it's very limited is because you're saving 70M for a player who's not coming.

There is Varane. Since you mentioned AWB, I’m going to throw it out it, hilariously, AWB switch to cb and varane go into RB which he has played in but it would obviously be a fecking bizarre tactical move.
There are 2 CB slots.

The players are 100% the issue.

But how long before this bunch turn on him like they did Ralf?

He's already ripping into them, saying we need good new signings and cancelling days off to make them run 13.8k. Players are going to turn on him very soon.

Extra training doesn't mean shit. These players are so mentally weak that you will probably see them going thru' motioj until they are sold. Maguire, Rashford, AWB, Bailly, McTominay, Fred, Lindeloft and many other. Sancho wished he is back to German league. We will probably see at the bottom of the league in Sept and probably climbing out relegation in Dec. I think I will stop watching games. It really spoilt my day when you see your favourite being outplay every week by lowly opposition.

If Erik is to succeed here , he’ll ship out DDG , Rashford before start of next season. They just dont have the technical and mindset. He gets my support till December 2023, he should show a clear path to trophies by that time.

posted this before the game and still believe to be true. DDG and midfield then think about Forwards.

How the feck does that stuff get leaked to the press?! ETH is covering his arse, trying not to feck up his future job prospects. Just accept you’ve got it wrong in the first two games and have made less than zero impact in your time with the club.

What a complete and utter circus MUFC is!

I agree with this. Where was the fury before now? He has been backed, it's just that we he spent the money poorly (Martinez) and not at all (FDJ) they are 100% on ETH. As for the Ronaldo circus, he seemed desperate to keep him for some reason. He had his chance to let him leave when he asked.

So when Ten Hag goes full Rangnick in a month or so do we just sack and ignore him as well or are we actually going to do something about it this time?
As long as we are not in a relegation scrap he should stay if he’s in the bottom 6 he will be sacked no doubt

Murtough spin - dont judge me until I've had 5 years in the job.

Little Woodward sock puppet.

The players need to be aware that even if we go down he stays, no matter what the only people who will be affected by them not playing well is them. Everyone else is exempt

That's where we need to step in and stay on code. When the players start leaking shit - drag them all over Beyonce's internet.

It will happen next week, post Liverpool game when they go into survival mode and PR teams start gearing up for a long season. The only think United have in their favour is that most of these frauds are out of contract next season

And this.

Just needs to happen.

You know what, let him get in more of his players - whether they are mid table or what. He needs to create some loyalty in that dressing room.

Such.a shame, in this very hard economic periods for fans, You have to be working around these privileged guys. I sympathise with the pressure of playing for current United, but that shouldn't mean you don't put in the effort and try to execute the manager's instructions. It's an insult to the manager and us the fans.

I agree with you. As you said they won't be challenging anytime soon but they're restructuring the team and blooding in youngsters. With us every approach seem to be worse and worse and it seems like we won't to get back on top too quickly without a plan. Maybe we should start from the bottom so to say, throw a couple of youngsters and see how it goes. If anything they'll catch the way ETH wants us to play quickly and we can start from if not scratch close to it.
At this point we don't have anything to lose.
Other than top flight football, how things are going at the moment.

They won't like this one bit. Expect them to ignore his instructions against Liverpool and put in even less effort. We all know by now their fragile egos can't handle criticism
If they do that then it is time to put the youngsters ( Laird, Garner, Iqbal, Savage, Garnacho, ) in. They can do no worse and at least we will have energy

It's on the board to get the players he want and they're failing big time.
Also do you think 2 games is enough to treat a new player like a poor acquisition?

I've heard that their day off was cancelled but was it actually to run 13.8k?

As long as this time board will be behind ETH and not the players it's fine. Sad thing is I think board will be behind the players again.

Player quality is an issue but it's more the mentality. Each of them individually wo up ld improve elsewhere. Together it's like a collective PTSD and the only way to shake it is break it apart and change the group completely. We missed our chance at it this summer. A bunch of players left this summer, but not enough. We should have got rid of another 5 at least before pre season started, and brought in another 3 or 4 before pre season to send a positive message. Sometimes all it is is the message you send, and the message we send is we don't care about the shit season last year and we won't do anything extra to change that.

It's more about greater needs in other areas such as just about every other position on the pitch, I said when we sig Ed Martinez that we were already well stocked with average centre backs and we shouldn't be blowing 50m on another one, the guy looks championship level.

Don't forget he wanted Arounotivic, that's 100% on him. It is also 100% on him that we have spent all summer chasing FDJ with no sign he even wants to come, that's also on him, not the board.

Maybe he told the board to try and ship out DDG, Dalot, AWB, I dont know, if he did and the Board haven't done so then yes, that's in the Board. However it seems that he thought Dalot and DDG were competent, hope he now realise that they are not.

ETH is a moron for having prioritised Martinez over a central midfielder, there is no other way around that. He chose to start the season without signing a central midfielder and he is now reaping the consequences of that decision. There is no hiding behind the Board on that as far as I am concerned.

And you think buying Martinez and malaria is enough backing. Stop spewing nonsense and reason.
Waiting for fdj till window close and getting him is worth it.

He is used to coach a dominating side and maybe came to us with the strange idea that we are still that. Things like playing Eriksen deep and bringing in players like Martinez underline this. He was not really aware of what the daily routine in the PL might look like and that there are no more teams we are able to swipe away. Pochettino probably had a more realistic take on things in the interview, but the board did not want to hear this.

His facial expression yesterday gave me the impression he realized which kind of job he took for the first time.

I can understand why he made this step out of the comfort zone. He seems to be someone who is convinced by himself and his success at Ajax supports his opinion. But often someone is good at his job and familiar surroundings and sees himself ready for bigger challenges just to realize he would have been better off staying where you are.

Still early days and he surely has qualities so he can turn it around as far as he acts more ruthless and pushes for what he really needs.

It doesn't matter who the manager is with this group of players. It's as simple as that. People forget that Conte pretty much threatened to walk in a post match presser if not backed. They've signed 9 players this window. Hell even Forest have brought in 9 players.

I'd expect Ten Hag to make some mistakes in his first season and in the transfer market in general, but we should of radically overhauled this team in order for it to play the style of play required. We didn't and as a result Ten Hag is doomed to fail this season. I would back him regardless of the finish because we've shown relegation form since February, let 8 players go and brought in 3, without addressing any holes in our team.

United board are now coming out saying it could take 5 years. You know what that means in code? "We're doing feck all different and don't intend to, and we're not going anywhere either."

There has to be dramatic protests that piss off money men in order for their to be a substantial change at the top. I don't have high hopes, and my interest in United is beginning to wane.

Love this. Do it after every game.

I think we’ll see record speed tool downing this week. But maybe this is the only way to get through to them, they obviously don’t feel shame any more so they need to physically hurt instead. The issue with this is they’re going to come out and say we got battered by Liverpool because we were all knackered from running during the week.

It'll at least be interesting to see how the season progresses with him. How many players get cut or dropped after these drastic failures. There's no way we just persist with the same shit given last season, he'll have to sift through them pretty dramatically and assertively to send a message IMO. Would be interesting to see next games lineup, but it's against Liverpool so that's a hard one anyway.

And we the fans won't be buying that. They can't be tired as they haven't been doing any running since last season.

Fans need to let the players know that this is not working. As I said, I understand the pressure they're under and it's not nice with the scrutiny they face, but the least you can do is put the effort in for a job you are well paid to do. That's the minimum.
