So ETH staying after finishing 8th is better than winning the league under Fergie? WowI've not been this happy since the Glaziers took over. Get in there!

The freeze frame just is a basic level approach of summarizing this video that Jamie Carragher (yes Scouse, but he knows his football) explains well.

I'm sorry but saying that he has a hand in developing Amad is utterly scandalous. Amad should be looking for a transfer with this news.According to Romano's latest tweet, sounds like ETH's development of the young players was a major factor in INEOS sticking with ETH. I'll give him credit for that. The development of Garnacho, Mainoo and Amad towards the end of the season have been positives. Hoping to see Amad getting more game time next season and maybe introducing Harry Amass to the team.
We're Man United, we'll do what we want etc.I've never heard of a season review that included considering and sounding out replacements
Is it really that stupid to look for and find potential reasons for a Ten staying? Is there not some logic based on the factors others have mentioned even if you didn’t want him to stay?
To write of transfers, departures tactics and basically the whole season before a ball has been kicked is pessimistic even if it’s based on the poor previous season.
Hopefully we have a season of improvement like the first under the current manager and he can show that he hasn’t told the midfielders to not track back or be sloppy with passes. Or to lose concentration and not mark when their meant to.
Rather than react to every media report as though it’s fact I think folk will be happier if they stuck to reliable sources if that. Normal reviews take 2 weeks at least which this one was conducted within. To me this is evidence of a measured approach rather than reactive, contrary to declarations that it’s proof of future ineptitudes.
I feel like I'm in the bloody Twilight Zone.
The difference is Van Gaal's football during his last season was by far the dullest I've ever seen as a United fan. As season ticket holders, we received calls from the club asking if we were going to renew because almost everyone was fed up with the zombie football we were paying to see. As much as Ten Hag's kamikaze football has pissed off supporters, it has been a hell of a lot more tolerable than Van Gaal's 'philosophy'.It boggles the mind, LVG got sacked for way less!
Nothing to trade off with this tactic; we hardly scored at all in the 35 Premier League games that this tactic was employed.I'm aware of his criticism. I'd dismiss it as him being stuck on Benitez catenaccio, shit on a stick football. Dropping a midfielder back would cost us goals - the reasons why seem obvious. The trade off of having teams counter you sometimes isn't a problem in itself. We dont execute the tactic very well but having your back 4 on the edge of your box vs 3 attackers is probably a situation you'd expect them to manage
Sure, but then concluding that keeping was the best decision based on developing youth bla bla sounds dodgyWe're Man United, we'll do what we want etc.
TBF we were left with basically very few options with Greenwood last season. We were in a disadvantageous position and probably begging clubs to take him.Getafe will receive 20% of that fee, yes that was part of their deal to take him on loan, that they would receive 20% of any future transfer fee. I think it was Romano that broke that news. I would fire Murtough into mars if I could.

Nah. You're just totally wrong here. The difference is Van Gaal's football during his last season was by far the dullest I've ever seen as a United fan. Also, in 2016, there was Mourinho waiting to be snapped up. Currently there is no available manager screaming out as an obvious upgrade on Ten Hag.

The football has been tosh under ETH in both his seasons. Nothing like what his defenders say it is.The difference is Van Gaal's football during his last season was by far the dullest I've ever seen as a United fan. Yeah, they were in the market and nothing else appealed more /enough to fund the change. Any spin around reasons is just that really.Sure, but then concluding that keeping was the best decision based on developing youth bla bla sounds dodgy
I did say in the PL
Which is why i wouldn't go more defensive. I think if we did what carragher says we would have been even more dependent on Rashford and Hojlund for goals and we would have still made too many unforced errors to really benefit from sitting back. I mean we were pretty bloody awful at sitting back late on in games, there was nothing to suggest it would have worked well as a baseline tactic imo.Nothing to trade off with this tactic; we hardly scored at all in the 35 Premier League games that this tactic was employed.
Fair play mate. Agree to disagree.
I hope ETH proves me wrong, I really do. I just can’t see it based on the evidence presented to us in the last 16 months.
What? What kind of weird insult is that supposed to be?!Because he actually has friends
Woodward would have sacked him by Christmas. The new structure being more inept than the previous one was not on my bingo card. Surviving 8th, negative goal difference and getting embarrassed by Galatasaray and Copenhagen Would never happen under Woody and co.
Was tosh for much of his first season as well truth be told but we were getting much more consistent positive results to pepper that over. The football has been tosh under ETH in both his seasons. Nothing like what his defenders say it is.
Talks are underway to extend Ten Hag's contract according to the BBC, so there won't be any financial savings if he bombs again next season and has to be sacked. For me, it doesn’t make fiscal sense to fire someone in the final year of his contract, there is still a good chance we get a new manager next summer.
What part of what I said was wrong?Nah. You're just totally wrong here.
I'm no 'ETH defender'. There's no need to split the fanbase into two camps. I've been dissatisfied with what I've seen over the last 12 months, however I was responding to a poster who said Van Gaal was sacked for less. He really wasn't. Van Gaal's football was worse than what we saw last season. The football has been tosh under ETH in both his seasons. Nothing like what his defenders say it is.
Meh. The alternatives were dire. Hopefully there is massive improvement next season and triggers are pulled promptly if not.
I'd say our midfielder was forward as often as not in season 1 and the bigger change was our defence being 20 yards further forward and making challenges, rather than dropping back to the edge of their box. Different defenders and those available this season are much better suited to doing that. Rashford's form probably makes up most of the difference though to be fair. What if I told you we actually scored and created more when we did “drop a midfielder back” in season 1 compared to season 2 where we committed that man forward.
Posts like that are designed to take us all for cnuts. We've just watched the same season they have and now it's time for history to be rewritten.Agree. Give him credit all you want for Garnacho and Mainoo sure, but Amad’s handling has been pretty abysmal.
You've just repeated what was wrong with what you said. The only manager that's been worse than ETH in terms of play style is Ralf. What part of what I said was wrong?

Amad got progressively better in his cameos. At first he contributed nothing at all.I'm sorry but saying that he has a hand in developing Amad is utterly scandalous. Amad should be looking for a transfer with this news.
I disagree. LVGs football was mind numbingly boring, but it had a purpose and you could see evidence of some coaching. What part of what I said was wrong?

No. Amad showed quality in every appearance he made last season. He was also coming off the back of a great season in the championship. He was then shunned in favour of Antony and Forson who are genuinely nowhere near the required quality for months on end until he forced his way into the team in the last couple of matches.Amad got progressively better in his cameos. At first he contributed nothing at all.
Did you, and the rest of the people that desperately want him to stay, forget the absolute travesty of a season he just served up?
Like, did yous just blank out:
4 - 0 v Palace
1 - 1 v Burnley
3 (4) - 3 (2) v Coventry - after winning 3 - 0 at half time and not losing in the final minutes by the virtue of VAR.
2 - 2 v Bournemouth
4 - 3 v Chelsea (after winning in the 90th minute only to end up losing)
1 - 1 v Brentford (scoring in the 90+ minutes only to immediately concede)
1 - 2 v Fulham
0 - 3 v Bournemouth
0 - 1 v Crystal Palace
1 - 3 v Brighton
Or the absolute disastrous Champions League campaign.
Or being dumped out of the League Cup 0 - 3 at home to Newcastle.
Or struggling to beat Newport in the FA Cup.
These results alone should have seen him go months ago.
But wait there's more you must have blanked out:
9 games lost at Old Trafford.
14 PL games lost this season.
19 games lost in all competitions.
85 goals conceded in all competitions.
58 goals conceded in the PL.
57 goals scored in the PL.
Negative goal difference.
Lowest ever position finish in the PL.
Highest number of shots faced in a PL season.
Bottom of our CL group.
You can't chalk all of this up to "injuries". The buck stops with him. Do you think that's all going to suddenly change next season?
I feel like I'm in the bloody Twilight Zone.
