I hope he goes from "we need right kind of players" to "we should get anyone over these incompetents"
A very good game today. I thought after the first half, our progress is nowhere to see. But the second half, it’s a really good performance and it’s obvious to see the ETH brand playing style right there but we gave ourselves a mountain to climb. It’s a bit too late. Seagulls have been well drilled in their position playing. You can see it when they are on offense and they are so fluid to apply it as they are born to play that way. In contrast, we in the first half after ten mins, are completely lost and it’s reasonable that we have not yet been able to do that in the real competition. Time will get us there.
I feel more optimistic now.
It won’t take years. I assume you watches the second half. If we keep going, no more than two months, we will be playing very good games consistently. To be honest, why are people surprised? This was always going to take years to fix. It was never going to happen this season. No matter who we sign, we are never getting top four this season. Accept it.
The gulf in quality between the two leagues is huge. The PL has more technical players, it’s more physical, it’s faster paced, the managers are better prepared…God, it really does make you realise how much faith we've put in people who've performed well in the Dutch league. The bloody Dutch league....
Ten Hag, Martinez, Malacia ... even De Jong has disappointed since he left Ajax.
Didn't really appreciate just how risky this is until now.

That's all on the players and their mentality. Been happening for several seasons. Don't know why we're not utilising a sports psychology department. Most of them are useless under pressure. It's a big problem. He needs our full backing but I didn’t see a shred of improvement in that 1st half performance and that’s all I was hoping for, regardless of the result.
At no point did they ever look as bad as that first half against Brighton. This isn't a dig at ETH but expecting players that produced last season's disaster class to suddenly start becoming competent footballers is madness. Be different if there was just two or three but the majority of them are still there.
Gotta disagree with this. Not one EPL club are out on their feet after 30 minutes of ok pressing. They didn’t even press that much, just passed around usI don't even know if people are trolling or not.
The 2nd half was obviously better as Brighton players were toasted and couldn't sustain their level of physicality throughout the entire game, there was no brand playing or anything like that, just more spaces and a bit of extra motivation after a very lucky goal.
The recruitment is worrying me.
He seems to want only players he’s either managed or played against in the past.
1 player.I agree, this is very worrying.

Absolutely. No reaction to the first goal then we conceded again. Not even a half time sub.Worrying that he didn't substitute Mctominay after about 30 minutes and let him play for more than 70 minutes.
Seriously? So what’s the excuse for Rashford, McTominay, Shaw, Sancho and Maguire?
They were all (bar Maguire who played ok) dreadful today, and they’ve all came through the English football system.
What if it isn’t up to him?He needs to realise before the window closes that a good number of this team aren't up to it. I'm a bit worried for him and us, if he doesn't. Because lets be honest, its glaringly obvious.

I know from your reply you don’t pay attention to playing style. Potter and ETH both play positions playing (modern, vertical version). It’s not that they can’t sustain the intensity but we execute our play in the second half a lot better.I don't even know if people are trolling or not.

What if it isn’t up to him?
Disastrous start.
Brighton H Lost
Brentford A
Liverpool H
Southampton A
Leicester A
Arsenal H
Palace A
That next 6 fixture list looks a nightmare for this squad. Good chance he won't have a win from the first 7 games.
Targeted an Ajax defender, and when he couldn't get him he went for another Ajax defender.1 player.
Martinez
This myth has to stop.
You can’t count Eriksen because he only trained with Ajax for a few months.
1 player.

Ronaldo won’t be a guaranteed starter this season. We are addressing the squad depth issue. Being patient is the best we should do. ETH needs us back him. I am sure he won’t abandon his idea and concept no matter what.We still have no consistent goal scorers. Ronaldo is moody. We still have a bunch of dross that are going to play because there is not a choice. The signings will take a long time.
I don't think there is any chance we get top four - Fernandes, McTominay, Wan Bissaka, Dalot, Shaw, Rashford, De Gea, Ronaldo need moving on. I think that is at the minimum, but that is going to take years to fix.
I did see the second half, but we didn't actually score ourselves. It was a mess up by their goalkeeper. We didn't create much and that is going to need a lot of work. I also doubt we would be consistent with that style of play.
