No one knows anything, but you can't have a clear out but keep the guy who has been the most clueless in the job and has played a part in our shit season still here next year.
They would know the extent to which he's been handicapped more than we would to be fair.

It's not really, several of those players were already earmarked to leave before he cameand most of them weren't regular first team starters.

Whether he's spent that money well or not is questionable, but this idea that this squad is his is just nonsense, he's brought in half a team of starters combined with frees and loans to make up the numbers in the rest of the squad.

No it isn't at all, Ten Hag has had the control, time and money to shape this squad in a way I don't think any other post SAF United manager has had.

60% of this squad has been signed or promoted by Ten Hag. He doesn't need a 100% new team/squad to get us playing decent cohesive football and/or at least coming 4th/5th.

But why did we get Amrabat on loan? because we fannied about and overspent on Mount, Onana and Hoijlund, (I am not against any of these three players but we over paid and took too long, especially with Mount) then Amrabat a former ETH player gets targeted, Evans just happened to be here training when some injuries hit and in fairness has been bloody good, we missed out on Kim again because we fannied about, but ETH is in this, he is not outside of this and having things thrust onto him

in regards to replacing Martial, he started with Martial, his plan was to use Martial he even said as much! pushing the previous season's much maligned 30 goal man out of position onto the right wing, where it has already been established by Mou and Ole he is next to useless, so demoralising him, not saying Rashford should not shoulder the responsibility for his form this season, but I know if I had just bagged 30 goals and then effectively got demoted to play in my worst position in preference of Martial, when it has subsequently been established that Garnacho thrives on the right wing..... I got to say if I was Rashford it would have knocked me back.... I mean how did ETH not know that A Garnacho was super effective on the right and Rashford is only really effective on the left?? how does he not know that after a whole season training them?????

Massively weak scouting, planning, back up options, and a weak coach who doesn't even know how to evaluate his own squad or players he has previously managed

People need to stop making excuses for ETH, there is a bad season riddled with injuries, which I can appreciate and forgive, and then there is the train wreck we have been served up by ETH, nothing that has been out of ETH's control has forced him to play a stupid system which the players available to him cannot adapt to, 100% on him and 100% why our season has been much worse that it could have been

It should be noted Amrabat is a player we were chasing all summer and wanted to sign permanently. But because of McTominay not leaving and FFP we had to settle for a loan. Though because he's not worked out and Ten Hag has barely used him it's now being painted as an emergency signing that's been forced upon ETH.

Wonder what he thinks about Onana, Martinez, Antony, Malacia, Mount etc all being put up for sale?

Must be embarrassing for him really...

Maybe he can do us a favour by buying a few of them next season.

Sorry that's not true at all obviously it wasn't forced upon Ten Hag but it was always suppose to be a loan and actually we paid bigger loan fee to ensure it came with buy option not an obligation .

And It wasn't because of FFP because amount we paid as loan fees and his salary would have have had similar effect for this year even if we had bought him outright .

Just caught up with the news about more upper management leaving

More convinced now that Ten Hag is done. They seem to want their own people in place asap

Ten Hag‘s signings long term are Antony, Onana, Martinez, Malacia, Mount, Højlund and Bayindir as backup goalie.

Every other signing has been a temporary one. As in, needs replacing in near future.

It is a stretch to call it Ten Hag‘s squad. Cheaty is Pep‘s squad and Arsenal is Lego Pep‘s squad, we aren‘t there yet.
This is the perspective that I take with the squad. I’ve heard some claim this is Tens team when it’s far from it for me. The fact those 7 you mentioned above have had various degrees of success has also tainted the view in my opinion to maybe.

The overall in balance in the team/squad from previous managers has also effected how these players have settled, but all of them can of course still improve. After the news a majority of the squad is for sale in theory I wonder who will get the chance next season.

Says who?

We were strongly linked with him for most of the summer as a permanent signing. Would be quite the coincidence if that was bullshit paper talk only for us to end up signing him on loan after we couldn't shift McTominay.

Moyes got 2 windows and 2 players spent 64m.

Van Gaal got 2 summer windows and spent 260m. Shaw and Martial are probably the last of his signings still knocking about.

Jose got 3 summer windows and spent 365m. Kicked his toys out of the pram when he couldn't get more and went into a meltdown. Still a few of his there.

Ole got 3 summer windows and spent 370m. He bought in players who just didn't fit what he was trying to do and he paid for it. Still too many of his signings at the club.

ETH so far has had 2 summer windows and whilst he spent money, he's really only bought in 7 out of 16 players for fees. Now those 7 players cost a lot of money +400m, but let's not pretend that filling the rest of the squad with makeshift frees and loans is an ideal situation.

100% that money could have been spent better and I really think if he loses his job, he only has himself to blame and I have no issue with that. But you can't honestly sit there and say this is the squad he would have wanted at this point, because we all know he wanted to replace Maguire and McT and who knows how many other players.

Everything about recruitment around the club has been a mess for a decade, one of the most expensively assembled squads in the history of football and this is where we're at. A total patchwork of mismatched players who as a gorup don't suit any particular style of play. That's mostly on the structure around the club for not having a proper plan in place for 5 or 6 managers at this stage.

Doesn't matter to me if ETH stays or goes, it all needs gutting and starting over.

One of the biggest mistakes was not making players acountable for form or performance. I get we had injuries but sometimes putting a less experienced - or even inferior player - in for someone for a few games is a sacrifice you need to make in order to make a point and prove to the player you'd dropped that there are standards and expectations that need to be met, regardless of who you are.

Play crap, automatically start the next game. It has a corosive effect on performance, standards and results. Very quickly you'll get performances that reflect the fact that each week nobody's evidently that worried about losing their match starting bonus for the following game
Now imagine doing this when your instructions are the reason the players are underperforming.....

Cost of firing and lack of clear replacements will not be the reason he stays. If it is.

From what I’ve seen United haven’t committed to him. I’ve heard that they don’t want to sack him as they want him to choose to go back to Ajax, so we don’t have to pay him compensation.

Ineos keeping ten hag. Next season is over before it starts.

We are not elite anymore.
 There's no way he stays. The new regime is not more incompetent than the previous one. It can't be.

No manager after 2 years will have gotten everything they want but I'd say this is not far off where he'd want the squad by now. Remember he's had control over targets and spent a shitload. Yeah he wanted rid of Maguire and McTominay but ended up relying on Maguire and Scott is his go to guy now. Prefers him over most of his own midfield signings.

Malacia, Martinez, Eriksen, Casemiro, Amrabat, Mount, Antony, Onana, Hojlund. He's promoted Mainoo and Garnacho as well. So I think we're at the point where we can safely call this his team.

We've only about 10 senior players left from when Ten Hag took over. So if that's true then that's on Ten Hag as much as anyone by this stage.

Yep we def dodged a bullet. We wanted him on a permanent basis and gave up because we didn't have the money.

IF he does stay, I just hope he’s on very thin ice and will be gone at the first sign of a repeat performance, because having to watch us play like this all these months has been awful.

Personally I think they’ve already made the decision (sack) but they’re briefing the media to downplay it and make it seem like it was a mutual parting of ways after the FA Cup Final. We got grilled for how we handled LVG’s last few weeks.

If he stays I will back him, but a whole new structure feels like the perfect opportunity for a total clean sweep and fresh start.

Or...

He got rid of De Gea because he was deemed not good enough on the ball, yet he has Onana pumping long balls up the pitch and hoping we win 2nd balls. Percentage football. It made no sense to bring in a ball playing GK and utilise him this way.

Amrabat would have been praised as genius loan for a good overall fee of £29-30 million had we signed him permanently. Now he's been relegated to just a loan signing due to ten Hag giving up on him early. It's an expensive loan at £8.5 million. You don't loan in a player for that fee if you're not planning on signing him.

Maybe ten Hag should have prioritised a CB over Mount.

I have zero sympathy for ten Hag. He hasn't gotten enough value out of the players he brought in.

For the De Gea, you just need to watch the FA cup final to understand why he wanted Onana.

With Amrabat i didn't want him, as I wanted someone with lots of pace, but I also think he was thinking that he'd have sold Maguire and replaced him with pace in the CB position.

For Mount he wanted him, because Liverpool was sniffing around - I also said months ago it was to phase out Bruno

Yeah but you want a fresh start with the right guy. I'm unsure if that guy is Ten Hag but I'd rather wait for the right person to be available and give him another season than blindly punt with candidates right now. I don't really see anyone standout.

So why did he bring in Martinez who is small and not pacey?

Who would that right person be? I see this a lot but I don't see how waiting for a year changes anything. It's never going to be a perfect candidate like Pep. We can attract most managers right now and those who would possibly be available next year like Alonso will choose Real instead anyway.

What if we give Ten Hag next season and we continue playing terrible football that we've been playing since the cup final and then we have to sack him mid season. It will be far harder to find a replacement then and we'll probably have to go with an interim. If we don't believe Ten Hag is the man to take us to the next level, now is the best time to move him on.

So why did he bring in Martinez who is small and not pacey?

Because its his first season and needed battlers - I think a lot of fan forget how much Martinez is needed in this team.

That's also one thing I like about Antony, he is our twat.

Me thinks it has nothing to do with "battlers" because then why sign Eriksen who is anything but that? But because he worked with him at Ajax like most of his signings...

I hope we don't stick with him just because they don't see another option. But if they genuinely think he's the right guy to take us forward, fair enough.

To be honest there's no manager out there who looks more ready to take on this job than Ten Hag did when we hired him.

Hes had a very bad season but he's not suddenly a very bad manager just because of it. If INEOS think he's been handicapped from implementing his style then he clearly hasn't been given a fair shake and it wouldn't make sense to get rid of him for a manager with less pedigree than he had.

Be a horrible reflection on Ineos competence if they waste another season of football for ETH.

Especially after not wasting a season giving second chances out to other people who clearly didnt deserve them.

I'd say Ineos have serious doubts if he's the right guy as well. And if they do they'll move him on this summer and look for the right guy now, or at least a guy they think could be the right guy. They can't keep a failing manager they have little faith in (after a season like this), in place for another season in the hope a manager who is a guaranteed success falls into their lap.

The vast majority of manager hires don't work out in football. 100% of them are a risk, you never know if you've got the right guy until they're in the job. It's a case of right guy, right place and right time.
