True. I thought 3 out of 9 at best. Credit to him we're playing well now that we have some important players back.Don't think many on here gave us much chance of getting 9 points from West Ham at home and Wolves/Villa away.

I can speak for myself. If you look back on my posts after the Villa game at home, I was on the fence regarding ETH. I wanted to see how we did with the returning players, Casemiro, Shaw and Martinez, and some extended game time for Mainoo in the middle. That's when I wanted to judge the team and his coaching. Which is what my focus is, which is where my posts are.
So this is where you contradict yourself.
Martinez is again missing and Shaw was subbed at half time.
Yet you’re here complaining.
So which is it? You want to give some time when the main players important to the system are fit or you don’t?
I don’t understand how that’s a straw man. You insinuated we are a great team because we were able to win despite being outplayed. We’re not. We were a bit lucky. In fact, given our goal difference, we’ve been outplayed in most games this season in the league. We have a negative xG for the season and we’re 9th in xG differential. This is from multiple sources, mind you. If Arsenal or City or Liverpool play poorly and win, I grant you the “great” status. A team that’s 6th in the table and 13 points off the top of the table, no.I don't think you get to lecture me on nuance given the ridiculous strawman you had to resort to in your previous post.
We were turning the ball over, but we're noticeably much better against a high press when we have our more press resistant players on the pitch, a back four that includes Maguire, Varane, and Lindelof is never going to be brilliant when pressed no matter who is coaching them.
As for the xG, it's not enough to tell the story of the game, we had Rashford on the ball in the 6 yard box but he passed instead of shooting and so that's automatically 0 xG.
Your last line is very reasonable, and I agree, he may not be the guy to take us to the top but he has made some definite improvements and if someone else takes over they'll be inheriting a much better team than the one ETH inherited.
Shaw played the first half, where we were already struggling. Casemiro and Mainoo have been playing regularly.
If it's the case that he will need every single one of the first XI to see the real football he plays, how often is that going to happen?
? Did we handle Villa’s press well today? What adjustments did Ten Hag make in positioning his fullbacks, Casemiro, Mainoo? Seriously, were we watching the same match? He hasn't coached a team on how to play through a high press? What bollocks is that
100%. Don't say it though, you'll get accused of not been happy that we won.Another 23 shots against us though, this is unsustainable. We do not control any games with arguably our best front 6. It’s a coaching issue that ETH still hasn’t sorted out. I don’t think he can coach control in the Premier League.

He had 50% of his first choice defence fit, and in spite of that, yes we did fine. We did get caught out on a couple occasions, all involving Lindelof who was a CB forced to play as a left back.? Did we handle Villa’s press well today? What adjustments did Ten Hag make in positioning his fullbacks, Casemiro, Mainoo? Seriously, were we watching the same match?
You said yourself you wanted to give time for Casemiro, Martinez and Shaw to get on the pitch together and see an extended run from Mainoo?
So you’re happy you’ve seen enough in the two games that happened to make your mind up?
We absolutely were not struggling in the first half ffs it was a really even half where I thought we played well.Shaw played the first half, where we were already struggling. Casemiro and Mainoo have been playing regularly.

Villa 56% possession 23 shots 10 on goal 10 corners 3 saves xG 2.68Because XG innit.

Just the usual lot who have an agenda against the manager no matter what the result is.Couldn’t tell if we won or lost in this thread.

Martinez is the only one missing now. Yes. The rest returning is enough to see improvement. So you want me to hold off on judging his coaching because one of the injured players is still injured for another 2 months, never mind the fact everyone else is available?
And then we came back in to it before half time again, hence why it was evenAfter we scored, you thought we were even with them? They kept coming at us, while we didn't do anything. How is that even?

Villa 56% possession 23 shots 10 on goal 10 corners 3 saves xG 2.68
Utd 44% possession 17 shots 5 on goal 8 corners 8 saves xG 1.99
It’s funny how you ignore results when defending Ten Hag in a loss, but point to results when we win.
‘Nuance. We can simultaneously be happy for Ten Hag and the team, but still be unconvinced that he’s the answer. If intellectually you can’t comprehend that, there’s nothing more to say.
Good win for the team. If we can rip off 3 wins over Luton, Forest and Fulham, we should be even closer to top 4.
You do you. If you don’t like Ten Hag just say so.
So long as Mctominay doesn’t get more game time I’m sure you’ll be happy.
And trophies are for egos right? He is right. Performances are more important than results. Poor poor performance against an out of form villa
And then we came back in to it before half time again, hence why it was even
There's no chance he's getting 13 points from the next 5 games.
And trophies are for egos right?
To get 4th/5th performances will have to be better. So they'd go hand in hand really and he'd keep his job.Would people keep him if we finish 4th/5th? Or would it require Fa Cup win as well?
Well, it could be worse. Against City at home they had 22 shots letting only 2 against them.
I agree RE Villa, really good side. However this is not isolated. They’ve only lost twice at home in the league, they are 6th in the league. It was never going to be an easy game. City got trounced when they played there.
