To be honest, I could see him getting another big club gig eventually simply because the likes of Real and Barcelona make weird hires all the time. But I wouldn't expect him to last very long because those clubs have actual standards and quickly rectify any hiring mistakes they make.
there was a rumour that Dortmund were interested in Ten Hag a few weeks ago

Seen enough now, about 200 posters saw the damage in midfield coming after taking Marino off, and he can’t?

Mentally weak manager too, lets his team get away with low intensity pedestrian performances week after week,

Also… fecking Antony FFS
No wonder we're shit if we have Dan Marino playing in midfield

He will be successful in a league where the team he coaches is miles in front of the remaining group from a financial perspective. If he has competition like we have in the PL, he will be shown up to be the fraud that he is.

Perhaps, although the Ajax team he took over hadn't won the league for years, nor have they been anywhere near as successful since.

Besides, even if you're right, the same argument can be made for Pep, so there's clearly a market for managers like that.

If you could read you'd be in danger of making a good post someday. The only thing I care about is Man Utd succeeding, I'm just not blind enough to expect that getting rid of yet another manager will cause that to happen given the state of the rest of the club.

To be honest, I only quoted you just to prove you were lying when you said you would put me on the ignore list few days ago. You are so amusing.

ETH performance today
good - subbing off antony early

bad-
starting antony
subbing off Mainoo and bringing in McT
not bringing in gore or hannibal once eriksen lost his legs
reguilon left and dalot right should have started, awb has lost his pace since injury
but the biggest, why can't our players make a simple short pass and find their teammates, there were so many missed passes right into forrest players.

He was lost there, gotta admit. It’s just a poorer version of Ole ball.
Where are the fans claiming he relied on individual brilliance? It obviously isn’t that easy to have attackers shine through like that

Does he understand the game enough to recognize these things?

Is there another person in the INEOS sporting structure that is watching these games and can report to Blanc & Brailsford?

That seems the only way something immediate takes place. It would need to be a damning report showing the past xx results and how the manager played a big role in them, imo. Unless someone like Brailsford is that clued up on football, or is a reactionary killer type.
Our problems on the pitch are not hard to see. Whether or not he is clued up on football itself, I would imagine so. I doubt Ratcliffe would trust him with the role he's given over INEOS Sport as a whole if he couldn't. I would imagine the main reason he is there is to be a face of the takeover. The football INEOS people involved with us will be watching too, no doubt.

Really? What's Ole's current job? What did De Boer get after the Palace disaster? I don't think you understand how damaging a bad coaching job can be for a young manager with little to no pedigree. Jose and LVG relied on their pedigrees to land them good jobs after United. Ten Hag does not have anywhere near the same reputation.

Ole had multiple job offers, he just didn't take any up. That's been reported about plenty.

As a counter point to your suggestion, just look at Emery. His reputation was in tatters after Arsenal, and now he's at a point where plenty on here want him to take over from ETH, because he moved to a club that wasn't a circus and rebuilt his reputation.

I am shocked things have gone wrong to this extent, given his excellent first season, but here we are. ETH has been very unlucky with injuries and he’s been forced to deal with a circus off the pitch, but the fact is no United manager can survive these results. Most of his signings haven’t worked. It looks like the end is nigh, and it certainly looks like many of the players have given up on him.

If even one of his signings from the summer worked out he could have survived, but they've all been duds. There is literally nothing we can point to right now that gives ETH an advantage from your average Joe, in our current situation. The best managers dig deep and find solutions. He's just digging and digging another hole for himself on an almost weekly basis.

If the sub is done on purpose, it means ETH sabotages himself. oh well, he is asking for the sack.

They haven't gone the same way with every manager. We're likely to finish bottom half if we give him the whole season.

They absolutely have gone the same way with every manager. With Moyes it took a few months, with LVG a season and a bit, with Mou it took 18 months or so, with Ole it took a couple of seasons, with Rangnick it took about 45 minutes, but the wheels always fall off, and each time we appoint a manager with a contradictory style and then wonder why there's no consistency or method, rather than just madness.

Times up I reckon. He just seems to be throwing shit at the wall hoping it sticks. We can't sustain any sort of consistency. You would think after watching that 2nd half performance against Villa that we could kick on but as usual it's back to square one.

Have to say managing United is quite a handy gig.

You can do extremely shite and worse than the guy you replaced but still you're given millions of chances more to continue than you've actually earned.

If other top teams like Real Madrid found themselves in our situation for 10 years straight they'd probably have had 3 times the managers we had because they don't accept failure.

Made me aven fecking madder when fecking McTominay left us wide open for their winner

Hopefully he takes McT with him. He’s absolutely terrible. I rage every time I see him pretend to get involved. It’s all meaningless bluster. Yellow card. Falls over. Fouls over and over and loses the ball over and over. DM for Manchester United??? Fred was an absolute beast to get us second beside that travesty

I've been wanting him to succeed here and I still do but if you can't get your team to play attacking football without the opposition playing a suicidal high line like Villa did (which plenty of people at the time said was absolutely ridiculous from them) then it's not going to work out here.

It goes back to those stupid DNA comments from him and about making the team the best transition team in the world. Nobody but NOBODY wanted that here, nobody wanted a continuation of Ole's blueprint. Most people wanted you to implement what you did at Ajax and if it meant ripping the team apart and starting again to do it then so be it. What a waste of time if this project fails, which it is doing. Again, i want him to do well but patience is wearing thin.

Emery had a very good pedigree before Arsenal
He will be fine because he will manage a much lower club.

And ETH had good pedigree before us, excellent even. Arsenal were a mess from top to bottom then, and clubs recognise that as a factor in why Emery failed, and he made mistakes too. We're also a mess, and other clubs will recognise that, he may not go directly to another European giant but he'll be managing around the top level for years to come.

What I don't like is we looked bothered to score only after conceding.

Tbh Emery hasn't managed a top team since failing at Arsenal either and he was better than ETH

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live after the loss against Nottingham Forest: "First half performance was OK. We invested to do less in the final third. I think we should have created more.

"The second half we had moments when we conceded goals. Then we come back in the game and I think the game was ours and we went for 2-1 and then we conceded. We had our moments but it was not good enough to win here."

On the need to be more consistent: "We know that. We have to make our performances consistent and have to do better. A game is 90 minutes and we have to invest from the first minute on.

"We are hopeful that many players will be back in the new year and they will strengthen the team and the squad.

"We know the reasons why it is not working. No team can deal with so many issues and injuries we have gad. We should still have done better and we have depth in the squad. When you have so many injuries, the depth is not enough."
I'm not reading that. What he says and what he does rarely match up anyway.

I really, really wanted him to do well. This feeling is shite. So shite that I've broken out the Ferrero Rocher.

Time for Erik to move on. He has got all the resources to put together the team of his choice and ended up chosing mediocre players from Eredivisie.

I would be glad to see him leave and take his soy-boys Antony, Malacia, Martinez and Onana with him back to Netherlands.
