The funniest part about this gif is that the guy who greeted his dance was also him. ETH is such a joker.

OMG I just noticed that… So funny!

It’s also a slightly awkward watch but incredibly powerful… I mean he even has the influence to get his team on board with some of the worst dad dancing moves I’ve ever witnessed…. It somehow encapsulates what I have noticed about him so far… quirky, almost slightly awkward but authoritarian and Curious.

Hearing and seeing some basic management and coaching this week and the excitement it is bringing tells you everything about what has been wrong these last few years. It’s so refreshing and encouraging for the years ahead but highlights so many of the basics that have held us back.

For anybody interested. Good watch.

Good video on some of the reasons to be optimistic to be sure, this and United view are definitely the better channels on YT imo, one for rational coverage and the other for a bit more entertainment.

Surely the main reason players have been fearful and uncertain in possession is because their teammates have provided so few options for them thanks to standing around like statues?

From the very brief training clips that have been posted, it looks like much emphasis has been placed on off the ball movement.

Our movement off the ball last year was non existent, nobody showed..

Yeah you can guarantee ETH won't be putting up with a lack of movement. You could tell when VDB came in that the lad was confused having come from a team full of movement to one where you took the ball still then did everything individually.

"Youre in front of the goal and you keep fecking passing it. SHOOT!"
Ten Hag: "You pass in the middle, then he lays it off here (*points left*), then you pass through to the next, and start again. More intensity and quick".
Ole: "Teeemaa you dribble past 2 players and you SHOOT. You're 18 yards out SHOOOOT"

Chad ole: shoot

Virgin ten hag: p...p..pass the ball, how are you?

This seems to be heading way off topic but,

a) Ole was criticised because he wasn't good enough. I loved the bloke as a player but he really wasn't up to the job of United manager.
b) Elite sport requires far more than fitness training. You can't just send them out and say do your best.

For a) Let's agree to disagree.

As for b), You didnt catch what i said. Training is mainly for conditioning and improving decision making. What i said is very high level and if you break it down further, there are fitness aspects, skill drills, team movement etc. But individual improvements are strongly dependent on the player's natural intelligence and instincts. In other words, the player must already possess some capabilities to make decisions, in order to improve further. In the end, its about how the manager can tactically adapt the players he has as not all players will improve.

Anyway, I am looking forward to ETH's tactics more than the training methods, as he has shown himself to be tactically flexible at Go Ahead Eagles and Ajax. He is both detailed and also tactically versatile, which makes him a rare breed. Tactics will be the key battle against the tougher teams, so i am very excited to see how he implements them.

Ole did not win a trophy but he did everything else possible to make the team compete against the clubs with top managers. The reason why Ole was not favorably looked upon by most of these pundits is due to his don't-give-away-anything approach during press conferences and that his tactical style did not focus on a detailed gameplay.

Anyway I find the focus on training approaches overestimated. Training is necessary to keep the players in good condition as well as to improve on their decision making but the player's attributes and natural intelligence will strongly determine if the improvements can be made. Ultimately, the manager must assess their attributes and be tactically flexible to make use of these players. This is the case for all types of managers at any club.
Well that clearly hasn't been happening at United ever since Jose was appointed. We've regularly featured in the Least Distance Covered stats as well as having end of season collapses nearly every year. Ole called the players out for it towards the end of his first season, but never fixed it. Neither did Ralf.

So let's hope it's different this time.

Even if it is its everyday parlance up and down the country its just people trying to score points on the internet, either that or sheltered feckers from Surrey who are so scared of women they worship them.

Keep my county's name out of your feckin mouth! :D

Seriously, what is wrong with Surrey?

ETH has two problems coming his way. First problem is the inaction of the board in getting the players and facilities he wants. This is the main reason Jose left. His biggest problem though is Ronaldo. He has him for one season and he may not play every game, therefore he will have to blood a new striker and /or revitalise Rashford and hope Greenwood stays out of Jail. A top four finish would be excellent but I suspect top six is more likely.

Yeah, that was totally his decision

Near sure Jose was sacked, and got lots of money chucked at him as well

From watching this again it’s very intense and high tempo. Quite interesting and definitely a new approach. Plenty of Ajax drills.
Think it is great that he has had most of the kids to work with this week. Players who are not stuck in their ways and whose brains are still wanting to take in new information. Enjoyed the video, hopefully it will mean lots more one touch, quick football instead of the stodgy stuff we have been seeing over recent years. Agree with presenter that it will take time.

Are you fecking joking?

Can they get 3 sorted for him in the next 7 days is the big question, don't see any chance of Martinez/Antony happening before we fly out

Antony for sure -- he is injured and expected to be out till August.... unless he is pulling a fast one on Ajax by doing a stealth strike.

Melissa Reddy (Manes girlfriend) getting leaks from the dressing room already after only 1 week of the players training is concerning (and not what Erik Ten Hag needs you don't see Liverpool or Manchester City leaking like a sieve like Manchester United). Yes they are positive with the 1st week of training but it's still a leak she has received from one of the players. Let's see if the training ground leaks are positive next week or after when the big hitters (and egos) waltz through the door.

The 3 most important questions for me that will determine if Manchester United will have a successful season under Erik Ten Hag;

1. Can De Gea can play or be coached to play as a sweeper-keeper without making loads of mistakes?

2. Can Harry Maguire play or be coached to play high-line football?

3. Can Rashford, Ronaldo and Sancho actually press or be coached to press as part of a team?

If 1 of those above is a no then the whole TenHagBall and philosophy fails. It's a machine and all cogs need to work for the whole system to work.
