And it’s all his doing. He’s signed 3 midfielders who are all poor passers of the ball from a ball retention and composure perspective. It’s crazy. And what’s worse is none of them (and the players already here like Fernandes) seem any better at keeping it as you say. Extremely concerning.
Must have had 70 percent possession today

Very nearly let down by the players, shocking start but managed to claw it back and get the 3 points. Plenty to work on but relief to get the win and should have been more comfortable, never should have been 2 down within 4 mins.

Seriously man...
Well what good was in that match other than coming back to win against relegation fodder as we ought to? We had no composure, we were all over the place, and they had better chances down to 10 men than with 11. What do you see that suggests ETH is the man for the job?

Really? You think if we went two down in five mins under Ralph or even Ole we would still have won? Have you forgotten how bad we were attitude wise?

I feel like we had plenty of comeback wins under Ole didn't we? Don't have the stats on hand.

Edit: Never mind, answered above. This issue with the player's losing their heads has persisted through multiple managers. Hoping ETH somehow finds a way to get on top of it. Thankfully we've turned it around and clawed our way out with a big three points.

Literally finished 6th before he came in
He said we wouldn’t have come back like that before n hag was manager nothing about league position. I seen we’ve come from behind once with ten hag as manger and I remember doing it multiple times with OGS as manger. Just pointing out what he said wasn’t true or was pointless saying it and repeating it

Ole was literally the king of comebacks for most of his time here. People would say that the attitude was not right to go down first in the first place. Make it what you will.

Yes, we came from behind many times under ole and only once with ten hag

Blame the players but never the one who bought some, coached them, and set them up to nearly lose.

Yeah, the pen, the first two of our goals. We were throwing caution to the wind and went all guns blazing, when teams like City and Arsenal would stay calm and trust their style of play. We don't even have that and can't control a game against 10 championship level players.
We controlled for about 80% of that game. We just happened to be 2-0 down at that point. Created chance after chance. It should have been 2-2 at halftime had it not been for the Casemiro miss.

I don't understand the individual moments. All 3 goals came from constant pressure.

We didn’t finish 6th by being a good team?

Ok and? So why is it that we did today something to complain about

Are you reading what's being said to you? Where did I complain about anything? I, like plenty others here, simply said your "pre-EtH" talking point doesn't stand under scrutiny.

Forest were parking the bus, but in no sense were we actually in control. By the time of their sending off and we went 3-2 up, they pinned us back.

Our midfield actually looked balance with Eriksen instead of Mount. And Rashford was a lot better with on the wing. Imagine if we’d sign Tonali instead of Mount.

The goals aren't on him but some of the tactics really baffles me . Why is it Antony and Rashford the last man defenders for our Corners ? Shouldn't that be our full backs ?

Why is Onana rooted to line always ? Think it's a tactics and he is being asked to stay back.

Fecking coach the team to keep the ball . Transition is all good but you need to also know when to keep the ball.

Even with prime Pep we would be a shit show! Until the Glazer’s leave we have no chance of success
We are unlikely to compete for the league with the glazers but we would be miles better with pep in charge. Eth seems to gave relished responsibility for transfers but choosing dross like Antony he has worked with before and mount to play 8 is really poor. He also seems confused in what he is trying to achieve

Casemiro, Bruno, Ericksen , Rashford, McT, Wana Bissaka, Dalot, that is half of your team.

You can't recycle the ball with these players.
How this is hard to understand?
It's a shame he hasn't had hundreds of millions to spend on players to rectify the issue

I am seeing what people are saying but its not the same as today. We may well have came back from a losing position many times under Ole, but I very much doubt many were from by two goals in the first 10 mins let alone 5.

It staggers me people still look back at the Ole period with rose coloured glasses.

Tonali I was sceptical about simply because he was apparently so reluctant to leave Italy (hence potential ADM situation). As a player profile, though, he' would have complemented the midfield really well, and seems to have quickly accepted that he's going to be in the PL for at least a couple of seasons, so he might as well perform...

A poor 5 minutes followed by a decent game and people still complaining.

it wasn’t as dire as the negative nancies on here are saying but certainly wasn’t smooth sailing after the first 5 minutes.
After the 3rd went in we were crap.

Needs to let Onana loose. Being rooted to the line is killing us.

The team showed great character to come back from 2-0 down and win the game. Two mistakes by Rashford in defensive transition and from Wan Bissaka when he turned his back on the ball, cost us two goals. But otherwise I thought we played good and played the majority of the game in the opponent's half, hence we scored 3 goals.

The issue ten Hag needs to address is that the team is lacking in athleticism in defensive transition. And add another midfielder who is comfortable operating as the first receiver. But whether the Glazers sanction funds for two more signings remains to be seen but that's what we need and its difficult to point out the profile of player that is required to raise the technical and athletic level of the team.

Jurgen Klopp's tactics are centred around a high level of physical and athletic capabilities. Without him signing those types of players his tactics wouldn't work in the EPL. Klopp's Liverpool have been successful because his teams have been able to control defensive transitions which has allowed his team to play in the opponent's half with a strong rest defense who are capable of containing opposition transitions in larger spaces. Hence the forwards can press more effectively due to the control the players behind give them out of possession.

Guardiola himself has realised that he needs to pay more attention to controlling defensive transitions and also being a bigger threat in transition himself. Hence the likes of Ake, Akanji etc were signed to control the defensive transition and Doku to be a threat in offensive transition.

Hojlund and Mount isn't bad to raise the level but we need more players.

No you’re not reading what’s being said to you - it’s evident. People have contested your “pre EtH” talking point because it doesn’t stand under scrutiny.

You have now equated people contesting that to “complaining about today” and “looking at Ole period with rose coloured glasses”. Either because you’re simply one of those people that can’t admit when they’ve said something erroneously, or because you have poor reading comprehension.

Sooo.....we weren't in control but, still scored 3 goals. Gotcha!
Yeah, slightly peculiar. We did relinquish initiative after going ahead though - partly due to Sancho not being able to hold the ball up, retain or move it on quickly enough, and defence settling into holding pattern without sufficient intensity. SAF or even most of the better managers in PL right now would have been setting us up to go for the throat, especially with a man advantage, at home, to lower-end side.

I still ask the question why we haven't signed a midfielder who can 1) defend and 2) pass the ball. We will NEVER win anything with this midfield (even if Mount comes back).

He isn't the one taking us into the promised land, but think he can steady the ship.

Needs to be taken off the transfers, and start planning for our longer term future.

Good fight from the boys, but pathetic how they gave the control away again after the 3rd goal, vs 10 men, at home, against Nottingham Forest. That is really far below standard.

Let's see whether we survive and are able to compete against Arsenal and Brighton. Arsenal are looking average, but will raise their game vs us.

We played them off the park after 4 minutes. Everyone having a head wobble needs to get it together. He doesn't even have his major signing up front in the side yet.

Has he even steadied the ship?
