He’ll be working Ronalod to the bone...Something's not quite right with that earlier photo...
While that is true, there will be a lot of pressure on ETH should he fail to qualify for CL. Despite what is being said now, a lot of the fans will turn on him if we fail to make the top 5 and the media will be not shut up about it. Reaching a CL qualification in some way will surely mean that he is allowed to continue managing the team and retaining the financial support we need.
I don't view top 4 as a trophy but I still acknowledge that we will have a new manager with new mentality and way of implementing his ideas, mass exodus of players and staff, new signings and a higher up management that seems to want to run things differently. Those are of moving parts that must come together and overcome a way of thinking and doing thing which has been predominant in the last decade.
Not necessarily. We can say with almost 100% certainty that the top 3 clubs are set in stone, even if their actual standing in the table is not. Several teams are below their level and I'm not expecting the smooth sailing with ETH that some of the other posters seem to. He had issues in his first season with Ajax and was under a lot of pressure, this is a new and tougher league, new country, new and higher profile players (despite what their performances might suggest). Taking all of those things and the other teams into consideration, it could be an uphill battle.
Have you seen Chelsea recently? it seems not. they are also losing a number of top players.
the top two is locked in. The rest up for grabs
Please list what responsibilities you think a player should have in a football club.
It only takes a massive injury to VVD and one of there front 3 to be injured for them to slip up unless they buy acceptable back ups. Couple seasons ago when VVD was injured and a couple others they crumbled.Fingers crossed that Liverpool is on their way down too, as they have a lot of players around 30. Not much hope as long as Klopp is still there though, by far the best manager in the world. I think we can finish, easily, in the top 4 next season. Why not?
Because he thinks he can help the players somehow and offers something different when clearly he doesn’t… he’s one of the only ones left from the ole reign and should of gone with carrick and McKenna. Why doesn't this guy gracefully leave the club?
Because he's one of the few among the staff with actual PL experience? Why doesn't this guy gracefully leave the club?

Yeah we have seen in recent time how much of help has been his PL experience.Because he's one of the few among the staff with actual PL experience?
I remember reading somewhere that it is the board that wants him to stay. I assume to help the new guy settle inYeah we have seen in recent time how much of help has been his PL experience.
We have no idea how impactful Phelan is on the squad so to say he needs to go for the sake of going is silly. Surely the people he works with are better qualified to make that decision?Yeah we have seen in recent time how much of help has been his PL experience.

Motivation also gets mixed up with activity, and then coaching/tactics comes into it as well. If a team is poorly set up, then players won't know (sufficiently well) what do do and things won't move smoothly. That's ultimately connected to confidence which you brought up already, but just to add that there are many things that factor into how 'motivated' a player appears on the pitch.Be professional and disciplined. Regarding your previous quote, motivate is generally a substitute for giving confidence and it's definitely something that comes from the coaching staff and sometimes some leaders. We tend to use the term motivate and it's a bit risky because people end up assuming that players are unmotivated.
Half way through this.
ETH on Jurrien Timber:
"He's another great leader that was trained at Ajax, besides his football skills he has the personality to become a captain"
Interviewer: "Please don't take him with you"
ETH: *sheepish laugh"
I'll be very disappointed if they're not calling him Erik Ten Rag already.Have they come up with a nickname for him over at Bluemoon?

‘Pep Guardiola is my idol’Have they come up with a nickname for him over at Bluemoon?
Hm, what about Ole's great coach for corners? He is still hereBecause he thinks he can help the players somehow and offers something different when clearly he doesn’t… he’s one of the only ones left from the ole reign and should of gone with carrick and McKenna.
He’s that crap forgot he was there… meant actual coaches… this guy doesn’t do anything.Hm, what about Ole's great coach for corners? He is still here

Actually quite goodI'm guessing something like bent rag
Yep, I totally agree. You are right, doubts are part of a potential lack of confidence. The point being that a manager is key when it comes to confidence aka "motivation". That's why the backbone of a Real Madrid team that has won multiple CL in raw, looked lethargic under the likes of Benitez, Solari or Lopetegui, no one is going to seriously suggest that these players lacked motivation or are unprofessional.
It's absolutely not impossible. Teams do it all the time. It's not like people are expecting a title challenge or a full squad overhaul. Everything else outside of the squad overhaul is possible over a summer. We have playEd really poor-average football for the last few years. We are inconsistent, we don’t work hard and we have really struggled to beat teams at every level in the PL and Europe. We have looked basically incompetent against Everyone but Leeds.
just because we are Man Utd...the name means fuk all at this stage. ETH has a huge job on his hands and I fear for him if fans are not more realistic about the size of this challenge.
- overhaul squad
- improve fitness
- improve attitude
- implement a new style/set of tactics
in 2 months?
im not saying he won’t do it but would love to hear why you think we should expect it?
That account was created in 2011...Started already. 74k subs.
Another Fergie influenced decision which was terribleFor all the good Phelan has done, is he anything but the oddball uncle hovering around the squad at this point?
Congrats @MobyApparently we’ve hired Michael Stipe and Moby to manage us next season
