A stray long ball peters to Onana with a striker closing in to press him. Onana takes a touch, appears to launch a long ball only to do a cruyff turn and bring the ball back inwards. After sitting down the striker, Onana casually plays a pass to Bailly. The striker gets up and starts chasing at Bailly's direction. Bailly gets the ball out of his feet and gestures to Hojlund for a long channel ball. Instead Bailly does a cruyff turn and sits the striker down again. Bailly then casually passes to Onana. This happens for another further 20 times until the end of the whistle

Bailly is definitely fun to watch when is not messing up. I don't remember him being dispossessed whilst dribbling a striker.

I will not go in debate is he better than Maguire but he is surely better than Evans. So, if he is in the club and under contract than why not play him? He is not shit player.

Completely agree. He's a much better option than Maguire and Evans. If he's part of the club, then he should be playing ahead of them.

Is he? Based off 3 years ago? All we have seen in the last few years is questionable ambition, injuries, red card and unwanted by any team he's been loaned to

In what universe?

In what universe Johnny feckin Evans or the walking meme named Harry Maguire is a better CB than him? Or a passive defender like Lindelöf who gets bullied constantly? Bailly at least has the athleticism. If he was on the pitch yesterday, we wouldn't have conceded that second goal.

At least the Eric fan club are no longer claiming he's the best CB at the club, which was still being said even a year ago.

You deserve to watch Evans & Maguire stinking up the place really. I know it's popular to shit on Bailly but the sad reality is we don't have anyone better at the back. No, Lindelöf is not a better CB than him. Neither Evans or Maguire.

Varane, Martinez, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw and even probably Evans are better options than Eric.

Because Eric's a fecking loon that no manager seesm to trust. Is he even fit right now?

Wouldn't surprise me if he's injured.

You are really underrating Lindelof who never gets a run of games but constantly is in and out of the team to cover for other players and always puts in a shift, great defender and perfect squad player

You're deusional to say the least.

He was never fit, did some crazy stuff on the pitch from out of nowhere, not to mention his silly way of heading the ball which looked like he was falling down, not jumping. When did he play last time anyway.

Its a strange form of stockholm syndrome to start considering Bailly a viable option.

He can't be worse than Evans but looks like he has no place in ten Haggs plans.

When not being mental he can put in some game winning performances.

I think he is better than Evans.

His variance is really high and when a manager is down to his fifth center back, they take a more steadier player in Evans than gamble on Bailly. Ten Hag has especially been very complimentary of how well Evans has trained since rejoining the club and he puts a heavy emphasis on that.

If you really believe 35 yo Jonny Evans is a better CB option than Bailly, then there's no point in discussion.

I'm sorry but thinking Evans, Maguire, Lindelöf should play ahead of Bailly is the definition of delusion you're talking about. You see the evidence on the pitch but are in denial.

Couldn't Marseille afford him full time? They signed Aubameyang in the summer so wages can't be an issue.
It's weird, everybody thought it'd be an easy and straightforward deal. I remember reading an article in L'equipe around 3 weeks ago while on vacation about Marseille transfer targets, Bailly was listed and was considered as good as done since all 3 parties wanted the move. Marseille also reached back at the end of the window but nothing happened.

Come of it.
Where's the evidence on the pitch? When did you last see him play anyway?

We are talking about Bailly right, the same player that is almost 30 years and has played a whopping 200 games in his career? He played 17 league games last year, which is a clear improvement over the 4 the year earlier, 12 year before and 4 before that. In fact, the last season he played a decent amount of games was 7 years ago.

Total failure of the club that he is still there. It's beyond ridiculous. Our outgoings are a total farce and it makes you wonder what Murtough actually does. He seems to lack any proper connections in the game, so the manager ends up having to go to player he knows already from his previous clubs. A real indictment.

He's better than Evans but that's not a compliment to Bailly.

It's a moot point though because Evans wouldn't have re-signed if there was any way back into the squad for Bailly.

I just do not get the Jonny Evans thing. Is he a Club Ambassador in waiting? I thought it may be because he was left-footed, but he isn't, really. Bailly looked fantastic for 15 games or so, then I have no idea what happened to him. Very strange.

No you are deluded mate. Your opinion on Bailly is based on a very small sample size.

Bailly is capable of performances that Evans, Lindelof and Maguire are not. But they are few and very far between, he's had maybe 15-20 outstanding games for United in his 7 years at the club. Outside of those games (on the rare occasions when he's actually fit) he's been Reckless, Crazy, Shit or a combination of all 3. These games account for about 95% of his United career.

You can't play a guy like Bailly hoping you get lucky and he has one of his 2-3 good yearly perfromances. There's a reason Mourinho, Solskjaer, Rangnick, the Marsielle manager and now Ten Hag don't trust the guy. I'd actually be surprised if he manages to find a club when his United contracts up. There was zero interest in him this window despite being availble for basically free. That says it all.

feck off, seven years my arse! He's not been here for seven years ffs.

...fecking hell, he's been here for seven years? Seven bloody years? How?!

No one knows, one of the mysteries of the Universe.

As far back as 2018-19 I though he was done and certain to leave. Somehow he's survived 10 transfer windows since then.

Apparently he has an agreement with Besiktas and they are pending for United to release him

I honestly think you are being very generous here. He`s had some moments here and there in games where he looked like a top level CB but rarely full games. Less than 10 full games where he is been solid and reliable throughout is my guess.

I agree about Evans and maybe Maguire, but Lindelof should always be ahead of Bailly.

Yeah maybe I am actually. He used to pop up with 2-3 great perfromances every season, though to be fair he probably hasn't even managed that since 2020.
