When can we start GPS tracking his private jet?

I must admit I don't know a thing about him.

Can someone educate me, is he any good?

How do you say his name? Is it really as simple as Eric Bailly (Bale - e). I have a feeling that his name sounds nothing like how I imagine it's said..

A highlights clip I watched had it down as "bay-ee"

Is it just me who is instantly put off any player like this as soon as I realise they'll be going to play in the ACON every other season?

You need to show some respect mate! It might not seem important to you but they're representing their countries. I'm sure Rashford would tell you to piss off if you started whining about him going to play for England.

It's just the way it is and we should just deal with it. It's not the player's fault and the clubs should not be putting pressure on them when asked to represent their countries no more so than the European players. I'm sure they understand that they might lose their place but that is their choice and the risk they take.

Shouldn't even be an issue. If Bailly's good enough then sign him.

He said nothing wrong and didn't disrespected anyone.

It's ridiculous that the ACON is played every two years. I think it's a bit of a problem that it's played in January, but you can't get around that and obviously Africa has to have their own continental tournament. But it should be a 4 year cycle like the World Cup or the Euro.

Ok. Now breathe. Better?

fecking hell, this forum has got some of the most ridiculously over the top posters around at times.

In fact, im not even sure you remember when, and how often, the ACON takes place because almost everything you've said is utterly, completely, irrelevant.

I think a lot of people on this forum need to show some respect! I can't believe the lack of respect at times! It's really disrespectful!

True however through club need to take that in consideration and weight whether it's worth the hassle of losing a player in such crucial part of season. I believe saf once said that the African cup was the reason why he didn't buy alot of African players in the first place

Are you for real?

Yup it should be every 4 years for sure. I have no idea why it is every 2 years

I totally see why clubs take the tournament under consideration before signing African players. Although ultimately if they are good enough they need to accept it as part of the package

It's got a silent y

That's how Jose won Woody over... he promised to deliver Bale

Whatever man! Why is it a problem that the guy's gonna be playing for the Cup of Nations??

Because he'd be gone a month mid season, and who knows if he'd be fit after that. That's a pretty valid concern

He could be missing 6 weeks and we don't know what kind of shape he'd be in when he returns.

Simples...fecking don't sign him then! close thread!

Yep. Close thread. Or, you know, continue to discuss the positives and negatives of the situation, which happens in every thread on the internet, ever.

That's a fair point.

The AFCON does a lot for improving infrastructure in a lot of African stadiums as well as improve local tourism and economy plus put African players on an international stage that can better their careers.
It's no where near as glamorous or even cared about as much as the EURO's or WC, so to compete and generate anywhere near as much money it needs to happen more frequently.

It just seems really badly intergrated. Change it to every 4 years and then combine it with one of the 2 week long international windows in European club football and maybe shift it a week or two earlier in the calender and yoi could keep disruption to a minimum.

I assume its every two years to try and enhance the profile of African football? But its a shame because it has the opposite effect.

Is that a serious question?

I'm just saying we all know it comes with the territory. So we either sign him knowing he's going to be missing and make provision for it or steer well clear.
