Lousy defending for the 2nd.
You need to watch it again. Mbappe getting it meant Bailly could have got it.
I must have been watching a different game if people think he did well. He's even less reliable than Phil Jones.
Solely responsible for Mbappe's goal.
Yeah, and Di Maria putting in inch perfect cross is practically the same as Mata hoofing crosses and Lingard not being able to convert a proper forward pass.
Biggest difference between Bailly and Silva tonight is that one played against Mbappe and one against Rashford.
Silva didn't have to defend a single dangerous cross where an attacker was in a position to score.
Every ball him and Kimpembe cleared was from a hit and hope.
Of course he could have got it, but we are talking about split seconds here. Apart from one moment he was not too bad.
Bailly isn't much of a passer really. Smalling would have been a better choice tonight.I'm pretty certain that if Smalling is in there he would've covered that second goal. But then obviously you lose the ball-playing ability so we lose out on that sense.
I like Bailly's effort but defensively he's never really struck me as being top top level. A lack of awareness and rashness a lot of times.
If he was garbage where were the other defenders? Mbappe was behind Bailly while Lindelof was watching him all the way into the box, where was he?Has nothing to do with that, his defending was garbage for the goal. He is ball watching instead of running towards the goal with Mbappe behind him. Last ditch tackle makes it look like it was impossible. It was a good pass by Di Maria, but a good defender clears that. Bailly isnt a good defender.
What?
He staggered his run for no reason when Mbappe had put on his afterburners.
Bailly I'd quick himself and had a starting advantage over Mbappe who was the only runner the 2 CBS had to track. He should have easily spotten the danger and cut off the cross. He couldn't even get a toe in at the end.

Yeah Lindelof isn’t fast enough and let’s put the blame on Bailly, when Bailly was the one being exposed by an attacker running in from behind to finish a ball Young wasn’t able to prevent, in the meantime the CB who should have followed through with Mbappe gets the easy ride.Meh, Lindelöf cant get ahead of Mbappe, he isnt that fast. Bailly is the one who is better positioned and he could have cut it out, he is in front of him and only needs to make a run, but since he is sleeping and has no awareness, he wasnt in a position to clear it. Lindelöf isnt a top CB either, but Bailly is just not reliable. I would have said the same for Jones. Going by the performances this season, no surprise really. He has been a liability most of the time he played anyway.
Silva standard is not anything to aim for, very overrated by many. Often shaky in important matches. Good positioning and good in the air, but nothing spectacular.Still doesnt mean Bailly couldnt have done better. I mean thats the standard we want to reach.
That’s poor defending because there is only one place that ball is going and any top defender should know that. I could understand the stutter if they were deeper in the box waiting for a cut back but they weren’t and he knew Mbappe was on the run as personally the first part of it he does wel, he’s given himself the space and has started the sprint quite early, Mbappe just has ridiculous speed and that combined with the slight pause and a good ball has led to that goal.He staggered his run because Mbappe was well behind him and there was a big chance of a cut back, he couldn't run too far ahead of him. By the time Di Maria played the cross Mbappe was at full speed and Bailly had no chance.

I have probably seen 150+ matches with Silva and can tell you he is not a top5 CB. He is well known to break down under pressure, that is his biggest issue.Top 5 CB in the world is nothing to aim for? Thats news to me. If anyhting, he is underrated. Leading a defense of Kimpembe, Bernat and Kehrer isnt easy., but he bossed it.

First I thought he had no chance and that he stopped to see where Mbappe were running. but now after I have seen it a few more times I totally agree. Dont think there were much else Lindelof could have done either. Maybe shut down his run but then he would have risked penalty or/ card.Ive watched the goal like 20 times now, Bailly never once looks to see where Mbappe is. The stutter he does basically makes the goal. If he continues at the speed he is running, he stops the goal.
He is considered one of the best CBs in his generation by people who actually understand football.I have probably seen 150+ matches with Silva and can tell you he is not a top5 CB. He is well known to break down under pressure, that is his biggest issue.
Being considered to be one of the best CBs in his generation is part of being overrated. He is considered one of the best CBs in his generation by people who actually understand football.
This is rubbish, he's been the best defender of the decade... easily at that.Silva standard is not anything to aim for, very overrated by many. Often shaky in important matches. Good positioning and good in the air, but nothing spectacular.

Sergio Ramos has been. This is rubbish, he's been the best defender of the decade... easily at that.
No way, cause he scores important goals?Sergio Ramos has been.

Really, you think he is the best defender of a decade? On what merits? This is rubbish, he's been the best defender of the decade... easily at that.
