He's just so good. To think none of us had any clue when we first signed him, thinking he'd be backup to Smalling and Blind. Mou sure knows his CBs.

What an upgrade from Blind he is! Just shows we don't need to sign just world class players just the right players

A teeny, weeny bit rash, notably when trying to deal with Deeney in the second half, but I think it's just part and parcel of his game. He's generally great and comes out on top regularly enough for me not to worry.

I have a feeling one or two people are going to suggest he had a perfect performance. If so, I don't agree with that as he did have one or two moments where players caused him problems just like our other CBs have had. However in the vast majority of things he did, he was dominant and in control. He was mostly solid, aggressive and hungry to win the ball. Long may it continue.

Agreed. He was actually perfect through the first 65 minutes and then he had a bit of trouble handling Deeney for a stretch of 10-15 minutes there where he rolled a couple of times and him and Valencia allowed him to get between them on a few long balls. Very good performance, but those are a few things for him to iron out, which at his age at the level he's already showing I suspect he will.

Balling looking good..
Balling reminds me of this:

Seriously though, he's been really good since he came back to our lineup. His presence is clearly noticeable when he's on the pitch. His balance and ball control is stellar, and he's really good at passing the ball out from the back. His style of play is quite reminiscent of Ricardo Carvalho, but with his athleticism, I think he can better Carvalho if he cuts out his rashness and overconfidence.

Thought he would struggle a bit after his move from Villarreal because he had some down periods in La Liga (even though the Yellow Submarines have been phenomenal from a collective defensive standpoint for a while now), but Bailly's been outstanding in most of his matches at United. Hard to discern any weaknesses in his game as a central defensive stopper - he just stonewalls everything. Determined, quick, brave, strong in the tackle, really good marker - essentially everything you need from someone in that position. Could stand to improve his aerial ability, and polish his passing to become a more complete centerback, but that should come with time - probably the best young defender in the entire league (and one of the best defenders overall), and should be a long, long term fixture in the United XI. Still not sold on his fit with Smalling, though, a more composed center-half alongside Bailly would be better for the team.

Think he will settle down with more experience in the Prem. But the guy is a monster physically and handled Deeney pretty well. Can run and pass on the move (unlike Smalling). He was really really good today.

this boy is a star in the making, hard to believe he is only 22, sometimes he makes little mistakes but i guess that's well expected due to being so young and adapting to a new league.

Hats off to whoever scouted him.

He gets a bit too rash and panicky in certain situations when he's be better off standing on his feet and ushering the opponent to a less dangerous area. Plus, he struggles with the high balls as you mentioned yourself.

However, those two weaknesses can be suppressed if he keeps working on his game and matures defensively.

He was fantastic today. Only 1 little error against deeney but dominated apart from that. Loved how calm he was on the ball today too, made a big difference.

100% aerial duels won. Not bad for a guy whose weakness is rumoured to be winning the headers.

He's a blend of Rio and Vidic. I'm not saying he's the best of both or the quality just yet but his lanky athletic style and the way he dominates on the ground reminds me of Rio and the way he relishes a challenge in the air and almost goes out of his way to go up for an aerial dual reminds me of Vidic.

Yeah, those were the kind of weaknesses that gave me pause at the time of his signing, particularly since Smalling also has a propensity to be rash and doesn't have the best decision making in some critical moments. But to Eric's credit, I think he's improved on those facets of his game from his Villarreal days (where he came across as more of a loose cannon and would needlessly get dragged out of positions), and that's after only a few months at United under Mourinho. Could become a downright scary prospect after gaining invaluable experience, and more training under the modern-day Catenaccio master.

Absolutely, he's still a young player and that will come with age.

So quick and agile. Narrowest turning circle I've ever seen an a CB.

I genuinely think this guy is the best signing we've made since SAF's retirement. I think he's got bags of talent and is what, 22 years old? Sky's the limit for him.

I forget he's 22 at times. Guy is ridiculous, just a human brick wall.

If he stays injury free he will be better than both in my opinion. Talent wise one of the best centre backs I've seen.

Huge shout. I hold Rio in huge esteem.

God he's a beast, such a complete defender. Easily our best, his skill and composure on the ball is amazing. Made Smalling look really average today. If we keep him fit we will be hard to beat this year.

So do I. I think Bailly brilliance has not really been picked up by the wider press and we ourselves are more focused on whether our attacking signings are upto scratch but Mourinho has pulled a worldie with this signing.

If you had to create the perfect modern day CB it's very hard to look past Bailly. I just pray this knee stuff doesn't crop up again and I hope we get in the CL again because this guy would get into World XI in few years.

Pep watched a lot fo Spanish football. Should have went for this kid. Pissing on John Stones now and potential wise from a great distance. He is so good on the ball.

It feels like every couple of weeks I come into a different one of our centre backs thread to say they've nailed down a place in the team  But Bailly really does deserve to start every game he's available for, he looks absolutely quality. Has the tools to be able to deal with any kind of striker and is so relaxed in possession too.

Could be premature as it's too early to say whether Bailly and Rojo's form and Jones fitness can last but I don't think we need a new centre back in the summer as it stands.

He is streets ahead of any of our CBs.

He's just slotted back into the side as a complete monster.
